Greetings! picked up the bass last month and @Deep Thought recommended this page as I have recently fell into a band and I’ve been bugging the fella about equipment. I’ve a couple precisions, a squier sonic and a Harley Benton PB-20 (initially as a back up but lately I’ve been using the HB more often) Currently looking for a head & matching cab that can keep up with my fellow bandmates so I’m keen to see if basschat can help. A bit of a backstory: I’m part of a 4 piece band called “The Blinders” with myself on bass along with 1x Guitarist, 1x Keys, & 1x Drummer of course. We were originally just a small jamming group in which I had originally joined to play guitar but recently it was decided we’d be a band so I have stepped in and decided to handle the low end side of things. I am after a head & cab that’s suitable for pub rock which doesn’t bring the bank to its knees (mind you I am after a good quality set so understandably I’m not trying to budget too much!) if anyone could advise and help out? Many thanks in advance !

So it was back to plan A which was fit the EMGs into soapbar cases. The neck pickup was a tight fit length wise but the bridge one wouldn't go in at all due to the tubes (?) for the screws to go through. Luckily I was able to snap one off right at the top of the underside and still had enough room to get a screw past it to go into the body. I am very happy with the result - looks more or less original (with the exception of the extra pot hole) despite having EMGs and a BTS system EQ fitted.

Surely the answer for pinks sound etc would be to use what pino used in the 80s - what made him famous? -
Need some help on the wiring for a BFM Omini 10.5
neepheid replied to rwillett's topic in Repairs and Technical
I replaced the large, white resistor a few years back, because it actually physically broke apart - it ejected its legs. I briefly discussed it here - https://billfitzmaurice.info/forum/viewtopic.php?p=294776 and I quote Bill - "When it broke off the only result would have been the tweeters shutting down." That leads me to think that it's the red square - if the main driver was connected at the purple square, when the resistor broke apart, it would have taken out everything, no? If not red square, then maybe above it - can 3 wires fit in one hole of the connector block? Now that I think about it, there's a vague memory of swearing and trying to get three to play nice, but I might be misremembering... -
Well the foam didn't work. Unlike what I assume is the foam from Fender pickups above, EMG just has plain rectangles

I don't think it actually goes where the red square is as there is very little gap at each end. However logically it might do. -

The other speaker wire goes to the other side of the choc block next to the red square. Rob -

Hi. Time to replace the tops for my band and I was recommended to have a look at these. Seems a good deal with a 5 year warranty? Is anyone using these and can comment? Cheers

help with working out how much wattage i need!

That would be a combination of hearing the subs in a big venue, and boundary reflection cancellations in the rehearsal space. -

I was going to say Manson. There must be JPJs out there but you never see them second hand.

Love that pic @BaggyMan 👍 And in answer to your question..... Modulus Sonic Hammer Fretless Ric 4003 Lakland Decade

An old friend of mine had an Ibanez Ric back in the ‘70s.

It does in Texas, but not in the way a Brit would likely imagine. 😁

Aw no, that's too bad! I wish I could remember how it went, it's been a while since I was in there. Where is the other wire from the speaker going to? -

Only bought this a couple of weeks ago from another Basschat member, given it a run out at a couple of rehearsals but just isn’t my kind of sound so I’m listing it back up for what I paid for it. Rat based distortion with bass and treble eq controls, can do the lower gain thing but really shows what it can do at higher gain sounds. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers!
