I wish you the very best with that and sincerely hope it works for you. None of my responses are aimed at you, Mr Mandrel. I am hoping that casual readers would get a handle on the dangers and the clear strategies for negating that danger. From my own personal experience, I would not be taking the risk for the cost of 3 sets of strings (or less if you use TI Jazz Flats!). I am not telling anyone what to do with their lives. However the reality is that when it goes wrong suddenly all sorts of musical endeavours we take for granted, both listening and playing, are no longer possible. Hearing damage is progressive. Ironically mine tipped over into permanent tinnitus during a rehearsal with a harp. I can no longer play that subtle stuff that requires me to respond to subtle playing changes because I cannot risk further damage by playing unprotected. This is all totally avoidable.

This amp reminds me so much of the Ampeg Combo my uncle loaned me when I first moved from Guitar to Bass in the early sixties. He played an upright Bass into his Ampeg Combo, in a local Rock n Roll band. Thinking back, the amp portion came out at the back on some hinge unit, then you clipped it onto the top. Have not seen any pictures of that type of Ampeg Combo yet, also he must have been earning some money to afford one! I can still see him in my mind, getting onto a double decker bus, sliding his upright Bass under the stairs in its brown canvas cover, then rolling the Combo in and packing something around it to stop it rolling out! He progressed from using local bus services, to building a two wheeled trolly to pull along behind his push bike. THEM WERE THE DAYS! Anyhow, on closer looking at this Combo, from the serial number, it was made in China for the UK market 2009, (21)DYUUVA0006. Reading on the web, one of the issues this model made in China has had, is the With Horn / Without Horn sockets at the back. Apparently, there was some confusion regarding the earth on the Without Horn socket between Loud Technology and China when they first started manufacturing, which led to a lot of the Amps being fried, if you unplugged the cable from With Horn to Without Horn. This combo has it plugged in the With Horn and that’s where it is staying. The chassis is loose from the cabinet on the RH side, which I will take a look at when I get time Apart from the chassis being loose and finding a way to verify the horn (without frying the output) this amp is a keeper. Sorry about the long read, but these things keep coming back to you when you get to my age. Got to go now, can hear the misses waking up. Pete

I've used Interparcel for years and recently I've used PF as I don't use their insurance (I take out 3rd party) and I've had no issues with almost identical items. I did have a thought last night; I dropped this off at my local post office and when I did so the teller asked me to stand the box off to one side of the counter (public side) as they didn't have room for boxes of that size (there was another cuboid large box already where she indicated). I do wonder if that is where their claim is coming from. I think I'm on safe ground as that PO was the nearest suggested by Interparcel on the booking site and the staff member scanned in and accepted the package. I could be wrong and it might be unrelated. I'll update as and when. This is probably more of a warning to always photograph your package before sending it (luckily the recipient had the box I used, so we could prove how it was packaged). -

Complete Christian McBride performance of 'Cry Me A River' from the 2001 Diana Krall album, 'The Look Of Love'. A lovely tune which McBride plays straight. An easy enough read. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/cry-me-a-river-diana-krall/

The more you do it the easier it gets. Same goes for learning lyrics. I can do 2x45 minute sets without and crib sheets , tablets etc but can't remember my own kids birthdays.

For sale is my Vanderkley MNT 112 which was bought New from Bass Direct in 2020. 600W RMS and 17kg. The cab is in immaculate condition and always stored in the Roqsolid branded Vanderkley cover. I’ve recently bought the LNT 210 4ohms version, which renders the MNT112 surplus to requirements. Considering the above, this is Sale Only, and not interested in trades. Collection only from BD11 between Bradford and Leeds.

Wow, great read, learnt a few things tonight re my old bass, big thanks to all the previous posters and information! Here's some pics of my Encore E83 bought from Mr Music guitar shop in Glasgow very early 90s, (I know I bought it there as the strap still pristine, the bass never left my flat as I was a guitarist/programmer and not a bass player). Cannot be sure of the year, looks like an earlier one as the Encore logo is higher up on headstock above string trees, the string trees are chunkier and the headstock style is older version? Might have read some of this wrong. I had a Roland W-30 sampling workstation and a Yamaha MT-3X 4-track with 6 channel mixer and I used get the guys I was in a band with round to flat to record demos (guitar band stooges/bunnymen etc, our own stuff, we supported The Primitives early 90s for Scottish gig). Drummer lived 30miles away so I prgrammed all the drums on W-30/Cubase. Bass player lived in east-end and only turned up for practices/gigs so it was me and singer/guitarist who did most of demos. I used to prgram the bass using Cubase on Atari 1040ST triggering W-30 samples, sounded great most of time but.... I bought the Encore as some songs needed a real bass on them and slides (being a guitarist), and you cannot beat a driving bass line, right, think Lucretia My Refecltion heavy-duty. Took me hrs and usually aching bleeding fingers to get a good take... 😉 My own fault, got better at bass when kept it simple. It's all stock (even the strings are factory as I do not ever remember changing them when I found out how much a new set was back in day 😉 ), not really an issue if it's only ever picked up now again. Having said that I set it up last Christmas as I'd set up my other guitars over holidays and felt bad for leaving it out, truss rod is a pain as need to remove neck however it plays way better now than it ever did back in 90s 😉

I'm not sure about the UK but this phenomenon is known in NZ planning as 'reverse sensitivity' and is not generally recognised as a valid objection to nuisance.
