  1. Past hour
  2. Just picked up 2 Barefaced One10's. Oh well, there's always 2027!!
  3. Well, this is a way I haven't been insulted in yet.
  4. Ok. I'm in. Stop sniggering at the back! I only failed on two basses, an amp and bucketload of other gear last year.
  5. Hi Phil, I think, about a year or so ago, you commented that the D-A/A-D on cheaper mixers was noticeably inferior to that on dedicated interface units. Where do you feel the Flow 8 sits on that line? I have the option of 'upgrading' to a Flow 8, or connecting my analogue Alto ZMX862 with my Steinberg UR22C interface to achieve the same functionality, so I'd value your (and anyone else's) feedback. David
  6. I’m not sure that six abstained out of about 20000 members really constitutes a statistically significant “not everyone” - have you considered a future in Government?
  7. Generic set of non branded pickups taken out of a project bass. Measure at 7.1k and 7.2k. £20 collected or will post for £5.
  8. What a beaut! Good luck with the sale
  9. OK, I got the WX52- and I have been pretty impressed with it, tried it tonight in a practice, really good sound quality and a solid build.
  10. Mine runs my AVII scarily close for tone and may have the edge for playability.
  11. I have a fender one and it has been good, which is a surprise as every other fender cable I have had has been junk. Maybe it was a lucky accident.
  12. A pair of 5 String Delano Pickups that I took out of a project bass. Humbucker MC 5 HE/SL https://www.delano.de/mc_5_he_s/mc_5_he_s_details.html and Jazz Neck JC 5 HE/M2-AS https://www.delano.de/jc_5_he_m2/jc_5_he_m2_details.html Collection from Chelmsford or postage at buyers cost/risk.
  13. Not terrible, but a couple of centimetres at least, coupled with high winds, with more to come. It’s not necessarily the conditions, rather other road users, with a lack of respect for the conditions. Stay home, keep warm, have another JD.
  14. Admitting it is the first step to overcoming your affliction. Well done.
  15. And how much does it weigh?
  16. It started off as me trying to find a sound something between Tony Levin (circa Thrak-era King Crimson) and Justin Chancellor, which gradually morphed into its own thing to accommodate my tastes and playing technique. I used to be a fairly heavy-handed player, but I'm playing with a far lighter touch these days but I still want things to sound big, so I'm using two compressors in series, Levin-style, to control the dynamics, then, in terms of EQ, notching out that boxy-sounding 800Hz frequency range and gently boosting low and high mids. I also mostly play a 6-string these days, so I've had to adjust the EQ and compression to accommodate the high C so it doesn't sound brittle compared to the others. I also have an alternate version of this sound for fretless where I don't dial out the 800Hz range, since that's where a lot of the "mwah" lives in the frequency spectrum. I'm currently using a Headrush Flex Prime for effects - not a popular choice for bass (it doesn't have many bass-specific effects, amps or IRs), but it's small, powerful, easy to use and does everything I need it to do. It also came with the ReValver amp modelling software, which I used to model my previous Zoom B3n-based tone, directly from the pedal, so I had a good starting point to go from there.
  17. 2 for £10? I'll take those. I have a signed cassette of Cocktail Cowboy (Peggy was delighted... said no one ever asked for it to be signed before) and a pirate tape of Gladys (featuring the brilliant 'The Riverhead' which I still haven't quite figured out). Pm incoming.
  18. That makes sense: sell the item into its home market, and people recognise and favour that brand, and pay a premium for it. An update: I spoke with the seller, and asked him whether the pedalboard was indeed a Midi item. "It's Midi, and it's not Midi". I think that he saw anything with multi-Pin connector, which can be plugged in, as a type of midi. I have put it down as a lack of expertise, rather than willful deception (although he used to run his own music shop, so he should know better). The item is unused - it is New Old Stock - and had a retail price of about £300. Given the above, I am happy to have the item to either resell, or to retrofit with a midi module. (Or even, shove it up in the loft for my children to rediscover when I am dead!) 1. Doepfer midi module https://www.thomann.co.uk/doepfer_mbp25_elektronik.htm 2. 19. Yes, but in a passive system, changing the volume does actually change the EQ, not just the perception of it.
  20. I try to get a balanced, full tone riding on the edge of overdrive so I can did in for a bit of grit. Ideally new Roto 66s but for longevity Fender nickelscthat aren't as bright.
  21. Fair enough. A name pre-dating the Internet, I've no doubt.
  22. So you swap flexibility for predictability, which is a wholly rational choice if that suits your needs.
  23. It will be very evident which frequency range you need to give over for the sake of a clear mix.
  24. That happens this time of year , but in the months leading into Christmas I’ve noticed that things that would have instantly sold , have been sitting. Especially in the US , but to a lesser degree our local market on kijiji as well. Things are unusually slow.
