  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks Gezza1.it really is a cracking bass.😊
  3. Both a good example of how far the batteries can discharge in a low-current application and still function (the Precision ones were probably below 8V before they failed completely). It also hints at the rapid collapse in voltage when the batteries fail.
  4. When mine was converted to passive, I opted for a master volume / master tone / pickup pan. Did this because I needed to mute quickly at time, and having two volumes made it a bit harder. It’s been a bit of a learning curve, but as I’ve got older it’s been beneficial to my hands. 😄
  5. LFSys or Barefaced will be good, with LFSys being our very own @stevie
  6. Its a Markbass cab, what is not to like? Pretty much brand new, never been gigged, comes with a cover in near perfect as new condition 15" main driver with horn. I bought this for a stage show project that didnt materialize (well at least not yet) for its visual presense as much as its excellent dynamics, and it's lightweight too. Specifications: Power handling 400W SPEAKER CONFIG 1X15" Impedance 8OHM Tweeter 1" DRIVER W/HORN TUNED PORT (REAR) Its pretty sizeable to ship but shouldnt be too bad as it light. Pickup/meetup is possibe. Trials welcome.
  7. Hi guys, I am looking for recommendations on 112 cabs that can handle a 5 String. I need to downsize slightly and find something that will fit into the boot of my Mazda MX5. Thanks in advance Freddie
  8. I really fancy trying the Diamond Bass comp - what you reckon to it?
  9. I bought this bass a good while back with a dead pre amp and a little unloved. I have gone over it with a fine tooth comb, fitted a generic pre amp which is very good and has a better all round definition than the Ibanez stock one. It works well with either the original BArt Mk1 or as seen here some bloomin' expensive Aguilars (I paid £280 for them as a pair) Its in played but nice condition finished in a metallic Dark grey/black. No huge dints or scratches. Hardware is the smoke chrome type, but the bridge is polished up a bit brighter than that. Great action Loads of fret life left, nicely set up with 1 month old strings. So TWO prices Bart Mk1's refitted: £200 With Aguilars £ 325 which is still cheaper than a new one and has a big upgrade pickups wise.. I can ship at buyers expense or meet up within reach of the M25 for the price of a coffee.
  10. Just bought a DOD Milk Box from Paul. Everything spot on and a pleasure to deal with
  11. So having decided that I'd like to set myself the challenge of having a go at fretless, and wanting to try before I bought, I looked at what was around on the cheap end of the market and my local music shop (I say shop, I suspect it's more the owner's retirement hobby and gear museum/hangout, with incidental music teaching space attached) had this, so I dropped in and had a look. Internet research suggests it was made in the Samick factory in 1994/5 and will have originally been fretted. The defret job looked good to my non-expert eye, the body and neck felt comfortable, it wasn't too heavy, it sounded OK unplugged - considering it had flats of unknown provenance on - and made a good range of tones plugged in to the shop Trace combo. The action wasn't exactly low and I noticed the G string bridge saddle was as low as it could get, but I figured a bit of setup attention could probably sort that. Oh and a previous owner had decided to replace the output jack with an XLR. Anyway though, I decided I liked it, so two hundred quid plus trade-in of a Marshall MB15 I no longer need and it came home with me. Closer inspection and plugging in at home and the imperfections started to look a lot more imperfect. I realised the intonation was badly out and the bridge saddles didn't have enough adjustment (away from the neck) to get it anywhere near right without reaching the string end wraps. And there was a huge amount of interference pickup, which only almost went away when I turned the tone control fully clockwise, which corresponded to maximum treble cut (??). Inspecting the cavity again, the wiring I'd thought looked passable in the shop now turned out to be a right dog's dinner. I started to feel I'd got a dud on my hands. Maybe I should have gone with the safe-but-boring Squier Vintage Modified 4-string that guy in Ashton with the leather sofa had on Gumtree… But then I took delivery of a set of lightly used Elixir stainless roundwounds courtesy of cdog, and went through the setup as I swapped them on, and everything started to make a bit more sense. Intonation came right in a more sensible place and I had to raise the G saddle a little to cure a rattle on the top end of the fretboard, which left the action still a bit higher than I'd like but definitely playable, and the rounds are easier (or at least more like what I'm used to) than the flats. And I've ordered the parts to screen and rewire the electrics and return it to a normal jack socket. So I'm a happy bunny after all. And I do think it looks rather smart in the black. I reckon the fretboard may have lifted a little bit at the top end, so once I've played it a bit more I may get an expert opinion on whether a bit of work would improve the action, but I'll leave that for a while as I'm planning to stick to the fretted until my next jazz jam in a couple of weeks, then play only the fretless and see how quickly I can get used to it. My own intonation is currently at the 'surprisingly good, but still terrible' level so some practice will be required.
  12. It's because of the way the output jack is working: it's functioning with an on/off switch inside, so you won't be able to read the voltage with a TRS jack as it does nothing here except turning the preamp on with its tip. 😉
  13. Anybody no any good music shops in Doncaster, moved to the area from just outside in West Yorkshire, used to be a big music shop on Nether hall hall road, but that went a few years ago. anywhere good for parts strings accessories and generally supporting local business?
  14. Great buy!
  15. Yeah thats great, thankyou. PM being sent
  16. Here i have for sale a well gigged but utterly reliable powerhouse of a cab. These come with wheels and trolley like handle for easy moving and loading. This has done over 100 gigs so has dinted especially in the bottom edges (i have gaffered these to protect them but full disclosure it seen some life). I'll redo the taping for sale i have decent black gaffa tape to tidy it up. Everything sounds great and is ready to go. I had two of these and broke the wheel on one, so have spares that will come with the sale, even though the ones on this one are the originals. Tech spec.. Number of speakers 8 Speaker diameter 5 inches RMS capacity in watts 750 - 999 W Built-in tweeter not needed Speaker output impedance 8 Ohms Stereo function no Bass reflex port yes Wheels yes Colour black Weight about 26 Kg Neutrik style connectors Has feet on two sides to can be set ip tall like the pics or low if part of a stack for example. Bearing mind its roadworn nature i have priced it to sell or trade at £275. Cheapest i can find online is £695 so a bargain to be had. I can ship at buyers cost but would prefer pickup or meetup.

There’s a number of caveats, but for a quick response, I’d put the MXR Octave back on the small board and run with that setup. The Stomp is extremely capable of copping all the sounds you might need. Additionally, I’d be more inclined to dump the DCX (I wasn’t impressed with either side of it) and utilize the Wren & Cuff Fuzz instead. But yeah, kinda largely depends on your type of music/gigs etc. Si
  22. I love a happy ending 💖
