  2. These tuners came from a JMJ Roadworn Mustang but I assume they will fit any Fender with a similar post size and screw pattern. They are full size tuners with a wider post unlike the Gotoh version that was made to fit the MIJ Mustang basses. I’m sorry I don’t know the model number. They have been lightly aged so wouldn’t look out of place on a vintage Fender needing a better quality tuner. They come with mounting screws and ferrules. Pickup preferred but I can post at buyer’s cost UK only. Thanks
  3. Lovely basses but I sold mine due it not getting enough use. I have a 2012 2 eq EB Ray under the bed if the need arises. Ian
  4. I'd love the OP to come back and explain what he means by his question. 🤔
  5. I've used roundcores on that type of bass. I found the secret with a headless and round cores is to put a Z bend in the string after it has gone through the head string clamp - but before it is actually clamped. Just a hard left and right bend is enough to stop it unravelling and then clamp it. Doesn't have to be a long Z - just do the bends as close to each other as you can with pliers. That gives the wrap something to bind on. When cutting the excess off leave the Z bend alone so it's always there. With the effect of the Z and the clamp you can even then take the strings off and put them on again later without them unravelling.
  6. I don't think it's right. You can use 'it looks a bit thirsty' for a lot of things, including wood. But I don't think I'd say it needs a drink.
  7. GL M-2000 Tribute Bass neck in great condition Bought for a project that never happened! Fitted with decent Gold Finish Machine heads -- Truss rod works fine. Any inspection welcome or can Post at Cost --- Heel size in photos
  8. Funny thing: many grunge and indie guitarists of that time started playing Fenders because they were available cheaply. Especially their offset models (Jazzmaster, Jaguar, Mustang) were available at pawn shops all over the US for silly money because they were either deemed too finnicky / complex or silly 24" student guitars that no serious player would ever want to own. It's what set off the Fender offset craze, first fuelled by Fender Japan who started producing them again and since the late 90s there are many US and MIM models too. Might be the same with the basses: came back in style because influential bands could get their hands on them cheaply when they started out.
  9. Damn I really wish you were closer... I too had a Tech Soundsystems 4x12. A religious experience when cranked!
  10. I'm heading to the Peak District in September so could take it should anyone that way be interested. Cheers.
  11. Thanks (sorry for the late reply - I've only just seen your response). I've still got my eye on getting a Ray 34 Purple Sparkle: I've got to admit though, it is almost entirely down to the paint-job that I want one. I've always wanted a purple sparkle funk-machine! (What's more funky than Purple Sparkle Stingray? Nothing!....well, apart from perhaps a Purple Sparkly Bootsy Space Bass, but I don't think anyone apart from Bootsy can pull off that level of funk!) My main 'wants' for a Bass = Light, Passive, front facing jacks, headless, Purple Sparkle. ....so it seems that the paint job might make up for the other things!
  12. IMHO £3-4K or if you actually want to sell it £2.5-3K, but if its that beat up less, but thats my opinion of course (i repaired some dings on mine it's not as big a deal as Headless USA will have you think, with the right stuff)
  13. Great wee thing I literally just bought new, because I thought I was going to use it in my workshops with primary schools, alas…everyone likes the double bass better, so I’m selling the Kala. I was amazed at how good this sounds, especially since I pair it with Flatwound strings (that cost me £65!)… only tiny imperfection is a hairline mark that does not even go through the varnish (photographed). Comes with original foam bag, in original box, with the original round wound strings shoved in the bag as well, in case you prefer them to flats. postage no problem (UK only).
  14. Non-standard tuners on mass-produced basses, that I can't simply drop a Hipshot XTender in without drilling (looking at you, Squier!). Pickup selector switches - give me a blend or two volume pots I prefer maple fretboards because I like the look - I don't buy into maple sounds brighter and rosewood sounds darker Boutique curly maple tops that look like the instrument has been smeared in poo (Cort GB Modern) When people say "it plays like butter". Sounds horrible to me - all greasy and slimy!
  15. I completely agree. This fella is a committed criminal who continues to offend. He’s a scumbag. I am playing in a band later with someone who was convicted of robbery. He was more a victim of circumstance and it was 30 years ago. Guess you have to believe in the capacity for change. My dad’s house was repointed by a childhood friend who went to prison for attempted murder. A lovely fella who had a breakdown and did something entirely out of character.
  16. Ned was clear late 1980's that it wasn't going to work long term I have a beat up L2 April 1983 no leg rest or head piece string adaptor whats the $ value now? i paid $2200 NZ in 1993(?)

I need to find some more demos.

  19. *** I case anyone is confused by another similar ad, these pickups were sold but the buyer misread the dimensions and the purchase had to be reversed, however by then I could not re-edit the original advert. Hope this makes sense! *** These pickups were used just once but didn’t suit the bass that they went into, so they are ‘as new’. A new set of these will set you back £150 from Bass Direct, I’m asking just £100 delivered free in mainland UK. Classic J-Bass pickups give you enhanced treble response and narrower apertures for incisive attack and focused sound without harshness. This added treble definition vastly increases the tonal range available in active or passive instruments. When you dig in, they are responsive and growly. When you pull back, they are clear and sweet. And they’ll take any slapping and popping you want to give them. The Classic Bass series is popular with progressive, jazz, gospel, and metal musicians where articulation is critical. They are sweat-proof and won’t crackle and thud when you touch them or hit them with the strings. If you play a wide variety of music, you know you need some pro-level pickups, but you don’t want to do a big upgrade project, Classic Bass pickups are a great choice. They are passive and will work with your current electronics in most basses. These dual inline-coil pickups are hum-cancelling even soloing the neck or bridge pickup, so they are well suited for studio or stage. These are Fender 'American Standard' size
  20. She isn't fit to lace his boots Tumshiebonce.
  21. My bass and acoustic pedal boards are pretty linear, but for my electric guitar pedalboard I use a 4-cable multi-core and a Bright Onion patch box so that I can easily switch pedals before and after the preamp.
  22. @SpondonBassed - do NOT respond to this comment in your usual manner. 🤭
  23. The Alex Blake bass part for the tune '(You Must) Meet Benny Bailey' from the 1985 Grammy Award winning 'Vocalese' album. Great arranging and some great bass performances across the whole record but this one swings like a mofo! https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/you-must-meet-benny-bailey-the-manhattan-transfer/
