Bassassin started following an Antoria-built Elektrasonik

Nothing to do with Antoria, nothing to do with Japan. These Jag-style basses are from 20 or so years ago, pre-dating Fender's own versions & appearing with various cheapo brands. I quite fancied a 'Stagguar' as a project but never found one for the £50 I'd have been willing to pay.

That's unusual for you guys @martthebass. Sometimes it happens and like you said, just move on to the next one and enjoy the festive gigs cause Glam is always a fun Xmas party night. Dave

As new and in pristine condition, this was intended to replace my old H4n but in the end I bought a second H4n and an F3. 🙄 This is NOT the new 'Essentials' H6e but the significantly sturdier original unit which they now market as the H6 Studio. It's been used maybe a dozen times and is fully functional. Original packaging & documentation.

A new voice to my ears, Jorge Roeder in duet with vocalist Sofia Rei performing the tune 'Rosa' from their album, 'Coplas Escondidas'. Recommended. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/rosa-sofia-rei-jorge-roeder/

MyNameIsMark started following Simple exercise “make 8th’s on the root feel good”
-
Hello! I have a playlist of 60’s soul songs I like to revisit/warm-up/practice to. This weekend, instead of playing the lines, I replaced them with 8th notes on the root of the chord. I have in the back of my head advice from an unknown pro “make it feel good” & actually amazed how difficult that can be! I have so many inconsistencies… which finger I fret with, attack of the single picking finger, my second picking finger is a disaster, heavier swings are all over the place! Such a simple exercise with such a simple goal. I feel like I’ve skipped years of foundational stuff, hiding behind ghost notes & the void of syncopation. Maybe this’ll help others, let’s hope it helps me! 🫠

Bassassin started following 1980's Aria RSB 5 string £400
-
One of those was the very first 5er I ever saw/played, in Denmark Street Rose-Morris, probably 1985. I had the 4 string RSB Deluxe 2, and wondered if I should've waited & got the 5 instead! That looks in great condition for a 40 year old bass and that's a very good price, considering how few of these you see.

I'm genuinely curious when this running gag started?

The 2nd episode was definitely the least interesting of the three. -
That would be sacrilege, but then Rob T owns Jaco’s bass of doom and has played it at Metallica shows.

I've never really had an issue hearing myself on stage. I have some monster cabs that I have pretty much retired as they are too big/heavy for the car and most venues. I created a Frankenstein 2no...2 X10 cabs all housed in an old Ashdown ABM 4 x 10 cabinet and for pubs etc it works really well. It has 4 neo celestion speakers ..no problem with phase and it's so light and compact compared to my Marshall DBS cabs. I play in a rock/metal covers band but on Friday we giggled a local venue. I had my amp (crown xls 1500i running in two channel mode) flat out..dimed. my preamp pedals on the floor were running pretty hot and the floor wedge had run out of headroom.....and I couldn't hear what I was playing clearly... .the speakers were crying...despite their rating...300w each. They are pretty efficient. The whole thing was loud enough.... Just couldn't get the clarity out of the cab. At sound check I was running the system at about 75% and it sounded amazing..( normally does) but once the rest had got going I had to turn it up just to hear. I'm not a fan of in ears... I have them but trying to avoid them. I'm looking for speaker suggestions with enough Headroom that can deal with this. If you need more specs of my rig happy to get them. Anyone got any suggestions.... I told the two guitarists and drummer to turn down but they ignored me..😂 Cheers

I watched the lot yesterday. Really enjoyed it. There were appearances from other bassists that weren’t listed (Adrian Younge, Mark King were just two…) Could’ve done with a couple more episodes, hopefully we’ll get another series because they really barely scratched the surface… -

They didn’t say “to play”, though, did they? -
For context, last night I went to see my new band play their last gig with the outgoing bassist. No lights, no back drop. It's rock/pop/indie covers playing pubs/clubs/functions. I'm going to grab this as an opportunity but have no real experience, it's always been other people in all the other bands I've been in that do lights. So, where do I start? Plug and play, portability compact being the priorities, I guess.

Watched all the second episode last night, I had never heard of the featured bass player, her style of playing did not interest me and heavily distorted bass tone does nothing for me, good to listen to the comments of the other bass players though. -

FS: Eden CXC-300 Solo Series FET Bass Amp, £90 o.n.o

Hi Folks, Am having a bit of a gear clear out, so up for sale only is this Eden CXC-300 Solo Series FET bass amp, that was taken from a combo of the same name some years before I bought it. It's a properly made, high-quality piece of Eden bass gear from 1999, but I'm only asking £90 ono for it as it needs a bit of TLC... Here's the background as to why. So, I bought this amp on Facebook about 4 years ago, as a bit of a project to be honest. My thinking was that I'd tidy it up a bit and keep it as a back up amp in the car for gigs. But, as often is the case, other more pressing life stuff got in the way, so it's in pretty much the same state as it was when I bought it. So, the good bits about it are that: Hand built in the USA, it has that quintessential, David Eden 90s era sound; full, fat, warm bass tones, comprehensive, 5-band semi-parametric eq, on board compressor and the 'enhance' control knob that makes it so easy to get a fab tone quickly. And it delivers 300 class A/B watts into 4-ohms, that feel properly loud and punchy to me. What's not so good? Well; (a) some of the pots need a good clean, as they're crackly and squeaky (not sure if that's an acceptable industry descriptor?? ), (b) the fan is a bit noisy, so if you're only going to use this for home practicing, then it could do with being replaced. And, (c) as it was once part of a combo, it would really benefit from being housed safely in a decent rack case. That said, I did use this amp on a recording project with a Genz Benz 112 cab a couple of years ago, and it sounded great! Here's a link to what this amp probably looked like when it was part of a combo: https://en.audiofanzine.com/bass-guitar-combo-amp/eden-amplification/cxc-300/ And here's some sales blurb from a Reverb Ad from 5 years ago abiut a CXC-300 210 combo : "This US-made combo from 1999 is a true thump machine that cranks out some huge low end tones with ease! Features include two 10" speakers, a very nice 5-band parametric EQ with 3 sweepable mids (!), enhance control, an effects loop, DI out with independent level control, a stereo pair of 1/4" aux ins, and a very well-built enclosure with top and side handles. Very nice! In solid shape for its age, with normal cosmetic wear and tear throughout. Works as it should. From Eden Amplification: The CXC-300 produces 300 Watts @ 4 Ohms and 175 @ 8 Ohms The discrete preamplifier section, with its enhance control, powerful quasi-parametric tone control system, and gentle autocompression circuit allow you to achieve a wide array of sounds." I've included photos of the head itself, sitting on top of an old Trace Elliot combo, plus some generic pictures from a quick Google search so you can see the head as it once would have been. If anyone's interested and would like to test it out here in Potton, Central Beds, then you'd be more than welcome. Am happy also to do a meet up somewhere within say 30 minutes drive from me.. And although I'd prefer not to post this, it's also an option too if that's absolutely necessary. Any questions, please ask and thanks for looking! Cheers Nik
