  2. Wow, you’re going to get a lot of answers! That’s a great budget, and there’s a lot to recommend. I guess it’s in the ear of the beholder, and my 5ers are all well below that budget, my go to 5er is a Sire V7 that cost me peanuts, and sounds amazing, especially nice B. That said, my absolute favourite 5er that I had was a Kinal MK5, Aero pickups, absolutely stunning….. but if I was looking now, I’d be after another Spector Euro 5. Absolutely outstanding low B, EMGs, totally fabulous. I personally would start there.
  3. Musical tastes can differ and that’s what makes the world wonderful. My dad recently went to watch Appalachian clog dancing.
  4. I'm not sure I'd be comfortable singing into something that looks like a mechanical Facehugger.
  5. Despite my love of the Thunderbird, I've always adored a Fenderesque neck with binding and blocks. I suppose that harks back to my first Columbus Jazz.
  6. Been a couple of times.broadway is great and the standard of musicianship is excellent, saw daniel donato rip it up at roberts as well as the great Porter Mclister but Slick Joe Fick on the double bass takes some beating.I suspect they may be paid a small fee by the venue but supplemented by the tip jar that always looked full to me.
  7. Ok so I’m looking to buy a 5 string can pay up to £2500, what has the best sounding (thunderous) low B and also has quality pickups/preamp etc. Hit me with your experiences/suggestions guys, thanks in advance
  8. As I've posted previously, strapping on a Thunderbird is like magic; it can transform you from a slightly overweight curmudgeonly man in his 50s into Nikki Sixx in his mid-1980s prime. I don't know how it works.
  9. The Lumberjack Song - Monty Python
  10. What a bass here.... looks amaizing,I bet sounds fantastic. 🤩
  11. Looking forward to the build diary for this project.
  12. How does the Dingwall SP1 sound compared to a Dingwall John Taylor? Apart from GAS, I am not sure if the SP1 will fill any sonic gap between my Dingwall JT5, Sandberg VM5, and Spector Euro5. I expect the SP1 to sound a little more gentle than my Spector, but more mid push compared to JT5 (without post eq adaptation)
  13. Today
  14. I Saw You Do It - Russell Malone
  15. thank you, it is useful for me
  16. Hiiii, I come from USA. Can I pm you?
  17. Caline Pressure Tank compressor, excellent condition with original box. Velcro on the bottom. £25 inc. UK postage.
  18. Not Guilty - Georgie Harrison
  19. Not a fan, personally. They sound very bland to my ears and have no sound of their own. They're functional, and that's probably the best I can say about them. You're seeing more and more Nordstrand Big Singles showing up in lieu of the Mk1s these days, and they're a lot better. They actually have a bit of welly.
  20. Well, he only put 20 frets on Precisions originally, so presumably he wanted to keep bassists away from that 22nd fret when the pickup would meet the antinode and the streams would cross. After a while he realised that nobody with a Fender goes past the fifth fret so he stuck those dangerous extra frets on for marketing purposes.

  22. I had a similar occurrence with my Lekato WS-50s when carrying them loose in a gigbag - the slide switch on one switched on and I had a flat battery when I came to use it. I bought a couple of plastic boxes, one for the WS-50s and one for the WS-90s, which have spared my blushes.
  23. Shaping/smoothing out of the area I just routed away. Refinishing of the area I've just been working on. Bridge pickup is on its way from South Korea. After that arrives, pickup installation and wiring (got an Artec SE-2 waiting for the remainder of the guts). In the fullness of time, something decorative on the headstock. If you're super desperate for news, the felt washers for the strap buttons should be arriving tomorrow, but that's really scraping the bottom of the barrel!
  24. Binding and blocks are not the sole preserve of Jazz basses, and thank deity for that!
  25. I know exactly what #7 is but I won't spoil the surprise...
  26. Pedaltrain Nano plus (or Nano+ if you prefer) in good condition. 45 x 13 cm Soft side velcro on the top, and a bit on the underside for mounting PSU/Thunpinator/Buffer/Whatever. There's a bit of scratching on the logo on one side and some residue on the feet, no idea what it is but it doesn't affect performance (obviously). Bag is in good nick, there are some indentations on the base from the feet and PSU. The shoulder strap is a shoulder strap. Great for butter, plays like metal etc etc £40 posted, £35 collected from Bewdley, Worcs DY12 I'm in Leeds 14th-18th August, happy to meet up/possibly deliver if you're near the right motorway. Any questions (about the pedalboard) please ask
