  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks Paul, luckily the 12mm dowels appear to have a grain running across, I'll have to wait and see but I'm optimistic 👍
  3. Have I got news for you..it’s Ian Hislop.
  4. Correct. Great sounding pickup and a great playing little vintage Fender!
  5. The Bicycle Thief (Bob Forrest, Josh Klinghoffer) - You come and go like a pop song. One of my favorite albums. I finally managed to get this album on vinyl. These are pretty scarce as only 500 are made. When offered for sale, the additional 7" bonus is often missing.
  6. It's really a matter of personal preference. Most 12-string players prefer the octave strings above the bass strings. This has become the standard over time. When playing downstrokes with a pick, you hit the octave strings first. But not a lot of players use only downstrokes when playing with a pick. And there are some players who prefer it the other way around; the octave string below the bass string. It is called reversed triplets. When you play finger style you'd hit the octave string first. But the difference is hardly noticeable. Since you really hit all three strings at once. The biggest difference you'll notice between the two is actually on your fretting hand. Pressing three strings down with your finger feels quite different when they are reversed.
  7. That's a truly stunning-looking bass, and I'm glad to hear the sound does it justice.
  8. Wood 'Plugs' would(!) Be better as Dowel will show End Grain, which might need attention before a finish. Or...
  9. Longshots in a pub carpark in East Manchester this afternoon. Bass player with a Capri Orange P and a fridge. Respect!
  10. Thanks, and interestingly I bought not only a hand-held reamer today but also a step drill bit! I'm aiming to use the former but will have the latter on standby. I love the fact that whatever job you need to do, someone has invented a tool. However, there is one major problem - knowing what that tool is called! I'd never heard of a step drill until I searched reamer and they appeared low in the results 🤔 This is the body in question, I'm hoping next time I post a photo it looks a whole lot better
  11. @Basvarken: what's the order of the strings? If I remember an old article right, playing with a pick or fingers defies the order. Is this true? With pick the downstroke hits the lowest first, and with fingers it's the other way around, yes/no?
  12. Fabulous, & as usual in a different time zone 😭😆
  13. 😍
  14. We arrived early and went round the festival before anyone else! Bought some naga chilli sauce which was my level. Tried hotter ones, but the flavours weren’t as good.
  15. added a diy noise maker from holy island it can run of the two solar panel but one of mine is faulty, but it has a back up 9v super simple sounds weird which is what I want
  16. Today
  17. Selling this nice passive DI from Radial Eng. Details here Looking for £65 posted within mainland. Can be collected in Aylesbury. I might have the original box somewhere, will have to dig the storage.
  18. When enlarging headstock tuner holes I’ve used successfully either a hand-held reamer (as suggested by @Hellzero) or a step drill bit with a drill chuck and t-bar handle. Slow and steady by hand………just watch out for chips occurring in the surface coating (poly worse than nitro). If you can locate centrally a washer or coin of the desired final hole size, pre-score around it with a sharp scribe. This will help minimise chips and serve as a guide for the drill/reamer.
  19. I couldn’t play that. The band would be running round trying to find me trying all the chilli products
  20. I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.
  21. Ditch the tort-ure scratchplate? Seriously though if my credit cards weren't giving me daily manxiety i would snatch you arm off, it's a stunning bass.
