  1. Past hour
  2. I saw a suggestion to use light oak wood stain so might give that a try.
  3. Since you're round the corner from them in MK, is there any news from Blackstar about whether there's updates coming to the Unity range? As I mentioned in my little "review" earlier in this thread, there's lots to like but a load of little niggles (no mute/standby switch, fragile toggles, effect controls being on the back, only being able to get the full 700W out of the U700 head into 2.67ohms) - these all seem like relatively simple things for them to address. As I mentioned, I have a Unity combo that I use at home every day and I love it for practising. I'd be far more inclined to invest in the bigger rig if they could address these relatively small issues with it. Oh, and ditch the cloth grilles. I bought a bass amp, not a scratching post!
  4. They both look pretty good 👍. Seriously tempted.
  5. Just got mine to replace the Mooer Bass Sweeper and I'm blown away. I love how nicely it couples with Emma Electronic DiscumBOBulator. See, Disorder has a CV sockets - including ENVELOPE OUT, and DiscumBOBulator has a SIDE CHAIN INPUT. The DiscumBOBulator is an autowah by default, but if you connect these two, DBB becomes an envelope follower, controlled by Disorder's envelope even if Disorder is turned off; as long as it's plugged in to power source, the envelope - along with its sensitivity knob - works! They could be stacked too, of course.
  6. I find there are two core sounds with my DB, how it sounds acoustically and how it sounds amplified. I love it with Gamuts, makes my soul sing, but sounds very average amplified. Stick some Spiros on it and while it sounds average acoustically, it’s much better amplified. Might be worth some experimentation?
  7. Once at MacSorleys with the now gone Markbass 4 x 10.
  8. Grumpy middle-aged men winging about their First World problems on the General Discussion page of a Bass/music forum? 😂
  9. Well I'm 1962. Life is cruel to us when it comes to year of birth basses...
  10. I will be down at the Leeds/Bradford Guitar Show this Sunday with Vintage Bass Room, assisted by the quite magnificent @AndyTravis so if any of the Basschat massive are local and at a loose end, come and give us a shout and try some of the plethora of basses im bringing down. Should be good fun and if the start align theres going to be one hell of a Bassist popping into the stand for a bit too. Its not a huge show but should be worth a pottle around and its only 7 quid. Some of the info below - The LEEDS BRADFORD GUITAR SHOW returns to Pudsey Civic Hall on Sunday 14th September 2025 from 10am to 4.00pm. Admission £7. PAY ON THE DOOR. (Accompanied under-12s free.) FREE PARKING. Train station nearby. Now in its 17th year, the show is the only large-scale guitar show to take place in West Yorkshire and is highly anticipated and regarded by visitors and exhibitors alike. Hosted by Northern Guitar Shows Ltd, the show has all their trademark features - an affordable entrance fee for visitors, sensibly-priced exhibitor costs with no added extras, free parking for all, good transport links including proximity to the motorways and even a nearby railway station. New, vintage and pre-owned guitars, amps and pedals will be available to buy, trade and sell from a host of retailers, distributors, manufacturers, luthiers, boutique makers and private collectors. Plenty of special show bargains and on-the-day prices will be available on a wide range of products, both new and used. As with all NGS events, workshops, demonstrations and live music will be available in separate areas throughout the day, with superb guitarists performing in an intimate setting. 11. My brother had an expensive hike tent in his basket and was uhmming and ahhing over it for weeks. They randomly reduced it to 85% off. Free postage too!
  12. Magic - Olivia Neutron Bomb
  13. I've said for years - purple sparkle is THE colour!! No idea why companies don't do more models in that colour.
  14. Thats was a close second!
  15. Thanks for this thread. It’s prompted me to take out my custom build by our own @Andyjr1515. Boutique? Maybe, but if so it’s the only boutique thing I have in my universe. Suit courtesy of Oxfam.
  16. Sorry to hear this. I really don’t know what is happening to customer service in the UK. I have a couple of fairly simple things that need sorting that rely on other companies and their woeful customer service. One of which involves money owed and the other retirement planning. In one case 10 months have passed without resolution, the other getting on for two months. The legwork and staggering incompetence involved is depressing. Thankfully I have a little time and am not financially strapped or the impact would be far worse. I feel your pain. Customer service is a race to the bottom in the UK. Happy to take your cash but very slow to provide any service and getting cash back from them ….
  17. Small cab, lightweight, but as discussed on many posts, produces a surprisingly big sound for a 10" 200W speaker (8 ohms) Some tolex peel/shrinkage, mostly visible on the back, but otherwise sound This version has the fabric front, so marginally lighter (6.7kg) than the one with the metal grille Roqsolid cover is as new Pickup preferred but I can courier this at cost if necessary

  18. Anyone need a PA amp? Usual excellent Crown quality, this amp has only had light use and comes in a Chord carry bag. Not sure what the total weight is, but the amp on its own is under 4kg, so very portable XLR inputs, Speakon outputs for most users, plus various other options as per photos As well as standard Stereo, the amp can be configured as follows: Crossover Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on Channel 1 and a HighPass Filter on Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. LowPass Mode (CH1=LPF, CH2=LPF) – this mode enables a LowPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 1 at the frequency chosen. HighPass Mode (CH1=HPF, CH2=HPF) – this mode enables a HighPass Filter on both Channel 1 and Channel 2 at the frequency chosen. You can also put it into 'Bridge' mode for seriously high levels of output (according to the spec 1.5kW into 4ohm) Pickup from Uxbridge area, or I'll courier to you at cost.

  19. yeeee.... how accurately observant of you, im just in there @ 1964 🙂
  20. Absolutely gorgeous! One of my dream basses, if I wasn't restoring a Moon PGM right now I'd have this.
  21. Today
  22. Oh dear. Been trying hard to make the Krivo work. The G worked well, which falsely led me down a convoluted trouble shooting path, before realising (a quick google alas would have told me this) that my Evah Weichs don't have enough metal content for the mag pickup. Wrongly assumed anything 'non gut' would work. I cannot reopen the quest for strings(!) and so back it goes. Seriously toying with idea of the Nadine. Wondering if worth playing around with a basic dynamic mic on a stand, ahead of spending more.
  23. Hi D D and welcome, can I suggest you give us a bit more information as to what your trying to do and we can definitely help you
  24. For those aware of the saga relating to my car, at a hearing in July to discuss setting the judgment I'd obtained aside, it turned out the dealership may not have been getting their post so their defence was reinstated, and we were firmly encouraged by the judge to try and sort it ourselves before coming back to court. The dealer's director collared me after the hearing to say he'd call me to discuss a settlement, but after nearly two months, and an email and two voice messages from me that haven't been responded to, I've still not heard a dicky bird from them. So I'll be down another £180-odd for the trial fee and off to court we go again in October.
  25. I might keep an eye on it. AliExpress tend to have random sales so if it gets down to around about £150, it could be worth a punt. Especially as it seems to have an built-in headphone amp.
  26. Aha, fantastic. Yes, if you could get the actual measurement that would be amazing. I have one of those full sets but it is in a shipping box in a warehouse so not the most accessible to try different ones. The metric ones I can get work for the height adjusters but not for the locking screws.
  27. Or maybe he got fed up of the earache he was getting.
