If 4 tracks are (muddle muddle) good enough for Jaco (confusion) they are good enough for us (quizzical look into the middle distance).

Where can I get some decent bass sized straight edges?
Stub Mandrel replied to Marc S's topic in Repairs and Technical
Dremel (or even a file or an angle grinder) and a cheap 2' rule. Mark fret positions and grind notches.- 14 replies

Have you tried just using the two 500mA outlets with a single current doubler?

TimR started following Anyone solder wires into mains plugs? and Fret work for beginners

I have just purchased a cheap kit from Amazon on the basis that my 25 year old Ibanez is ready to be retired and just needs a small amount of work to maybe get another few years out of it.

Yes that's the plan. Re-route for the L-1000 position. I'm new to wood working, but I think I can knock together a routing template. It shouldn't be too difficult to calculate the edge radius of the MFDs and get it neat (he says, with confidence 😆). I'm hoping to share info and measurements as I go, as there doesn't seem to be a lot out there. Let's see how far I get and I'll let you know if the spare MFD is up for sale 😀

Anyone solder wires into mains plugs?
TimR replied to Steve Browning's topic in Repairs and Technical
In any case usually loose wires are spotted when your guitarist/keyboard player keeps cutting out in the middle of the gig. -
No mate, I meant it's absolutely an opinion 😂 I was agreeing with your statement.... Having a rough morning? "and the "I'd say" confirms it as opinion." No it doesn't, it means that it's the truth as far as my knowledge extends. I am a fallible human with a limited brain capacity, after all. Please feel free to educate me and tell my why I'm wrong instead of being facetious ☺️

In very good condition and excellent working order. Great sounding amp with 3 preamp valves and lightweight (2.7kg) Plenty of spec on the web. Comes with original box and gig bag. Welcome to trial here through my speakers or yours. Collection preferred but can be packaged well for delivery if required and you are happy to accept the small risk at cost. Cheers Geoff (WV14 West Midlands)

I've tried getting in there as I live in Cas, but their rates were a bit crap for our five-piece (£200 + a bucket handed round is what they suggested to me). It's a shame as I'd love to have a gig only five minutes down the road.

Hard to choose. If not something by early Chicago with Peter Cetera or 70's Doobies with Tiran Porter I think it would have to be: Guy Pratt on the phenomenal 'Toy Matinee' album:

Basswoy started following Fender Vintera Jazz Bass Fiesta Red
-
I'm scaling down my bass collection and so letting go of this Vintera Jazz bass in fiesta red. Bought in 2024 as B stock from Bax. As a vintera it has reverse tuners and the original strings are still on. It's in great condition, I only gigged it a few times. There is a little mark on the top of the headstock as shown and the truss rod adjustment needs the proper tool so I bought one and its included in the sale along with a gear 4 music tweed case. Cash on collection from either Ashby or Hull area.

I'll echo this for my Z7 5 that just arrived...it also also need a good setting u...., i learnt long ago to throw away any cream cheese allen keys that come with guitars/basses and bought a full boxed set of hardened steel imp/metric keys , you can get these for about £10, these days, they get used and put right back in the case so i don't have to hunt them down to the bottom of the tool box! I have to say i do really like the Sire Z7 - 5 & after a setup/oil and fret polish it's an amazing feeling/sounding bass and is way way better than many basses that i've paid x3-4 more for in the past...the only neg's for me are over all weight and neck drive when sitting (due to the way to short lower horn, even on the 2nd gen)...both thigs mean it's going to be on the 4 sale block over the weekend.. shame because it really is a great bass

RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE started following New Boss GX-1B
-
This popped up on my YouTube feed yesterday . I don’t know who the bass player is doing the demos . She has a lot of knowledge, while going through many basses . I immediately thought of the ME-50 B which hasn’t really been out that long . Similar price too it seems . As a person who practices at home these days and records stuff on GarageBand, this seems good . I don’t know how fiddly this would be to use in terms of menu diving etc. The ME50b is more bulky ( downside ) but seems straightforward otherwise . It looks like the GX-1B would be usb powered like the zoom B3 unlike the ME50 B which needs to be run on batteries or 9v power supply . Does the GX1 B have a looper ? It’s good that both of the units mentioned can be controlled by the Boss apps if that floats . I don’t think I’d bother though as it means more menu diving .

What new gear should be produced?
asingardenof replied to Jean-Luc Pickguard's topic in General Discussion
Indeed. It's like we get it, Jaco did you a solid and gave you the template for a fretless Jazz, but that doesn't mean that every fretless Jazz has to replicate that in some form! I mean, they even managed an unlined fretless Precision in the Tony Franklin signature (which for obvious reasons will always be named the Imprecision in my head). -

Putting "absolutely" after an opinion still doesn't make it a fact and the "I'd say" confirms it as opinion. -
