  2. So it isn't the bass player?
  3. Owing to a change in work circumstances I will be selling 2 of my 3 bass guitars. This is the listing for the first one, an Alpher Hammerhead 4 string in fantastic condition. This is a tremendously versatile instrument with a huge variation in tone available via 2 custom wound Sunbear 51 p dual humbuckers and the 4 button pickup selection This bass has a standard tone pot rather than the 10 way selector switch. I have priced mine at a lower rate to try and encourage a reasonably quick sale. I am based in Wigan. Any prospective buyer can call to try the bass without obligation. However I can deliver free of charge throughout the North West and meet up with any buyer elsewhere by prior arrangement. Thank you.
  4. Back at The Burton in Brixham last night. Our guitarist daughter and BF, along with his family travelled down from Macclesfield to see us. The first set was a bit loose in places, but we got through ok. Our drummer was using his new Mapex kit with an 18" kick drum for theses small pubs. Last time it was fine, but this time the kick drum was moving so I spent the second set with my left foot on on of the legs. I adjusted my mic stand and had to stand fairly still. Overall a good night, and our next gig there has been moved to NYE. My usual rig and Skechers.
  5. Bought when first came out. Really great case, just don’t use it anymore.

  6. A further point in favour of the D4 is that it's likely to be easier to move on should you need to sell it. Its more versatile - could be used for small acoustic jobs and the line out means you could add a power amp and cabs for larger gigs. The Nano is very much a desk top only amp.
  7. You mean you’re not really Dan Dare? 🚀😮
  8. I was up in Morecambe last week to give this a try. Sounded excellent! It's got some proper mojo. I had been concerned about the damage on the back of the neck but you cant feel it at all, or at least I couldn't. I opted to go with a 74 I found at a dealer. GLWTS mate, somebody needs to give this a good home!
  9. I tend to be pretty pragmatic when it comes to instruments. I try [really, I do] to only keep basses that are earning their keep and actually earn me money. I currently have nine, which seems to be the level I always return to these days. I have the Jazzes for anything vintage, like the live tribute shows, and all of my active basses for the more technical trio stuff and duo work. Any sessions I do these days have several bassy options, depending on what kind of sound the folks want. I like to think I have most bases [basses!] covered.
  10. Yes it's wonky, deliberately so to echo the album artwork for Rio 😊
  11. Look, I know we're not supposed to post Gumtree links, so I won't, go look yourself, but there's a very nice, decently priced 1985 one up for £8k in Hounslow. Save yourself a few £££. Look for it yourself.

  12. No, but wouldn't a fake name solve the issue?

  14. Lovely looking bass - especially the colour. I’ve long admired these. I play an early passive BB5000 and am wondering if anyone has direct experience of how these compare? GLWTS CB
  15. Have you ever been in a band with someone so publicity-shy they don’t even want to be introduced to the audience? Asking for an anonymous friend…😁
  16. I also picked up one when they were heavily discounted at Gear 4 Music. I also opted for the extended warranty based on reports of qc issues. Mine seems perfect for now. Hopefully it stays that way! Just got these preset packs which are fantastic. I can’t rate them enough!
  17. I now have said 12 string and this is now £400.
  18. Gotta love a USA Sterling, a better all rounder than a stingray in my humble opinion.
  19. Pride and Joy - Stevie Ray Vaughan
  20. Today
  21. Ur So Gay - Katy Perry
  22. I think I have just worked out what this might be! Only two weeks late 😁
  23. This is a vocal line, not bass, but listen to the first 22 seconds. The note she finishes on catches folks every time.
  24. Problem solved. I’ve decided to put the bass for sale and I was about to bring it to a tech to see what’s going on. However I tried pluggin it into a different amp (a friend’s Trace Elliot Elf) and to my surprise it was totally quiet. So I tought it should be something into my amp system. My cab, an Accugroove Tri112L, has two tweeters: both were set at 100%… as I dimed those to 50% the noise was gone, even if I stand in front of the amp!
