  1. Past hour
  2. If you set your A&H CQ monitor feeds on pre fade won't that give your IEM mixes isolation from whatever the sound engineer is doing with the FoH mix, and problem sorted? Or am I missing something obvious?
  3. Bands routinely turn up to festivals using their own FOH and/or monitor rigs, backline, lighting packages etc and throw it on in 30 minute turnarounds. It's pretty standard. We had a 30 minute changeover at Glasto on Friday and in that time they cleared off the previous band, and we put in a backdrop, 3.5m LED tall set-piece flown from the roof, our own risers, half a trucks worth of lights on the floor and all of our own audio kit (consoles, cabling, mics etc). We got it all off again in about 4 minutes afterwards. Festival crews are well used to these sorts of shenanigans. The key is the preparation and communication - which starts way before the gig when you advance your tech spec and start a conversation with the audio provider about what you're bringing and what you need from them. If you do that - by the time you load in to the show you'll have already given the techs there enough advance warning that between you you'll have a rough idea of how you're going to tackle it. You'll probably have dropped your rack in place earlier in the show, got it powered up, already scanned for clear frequencies for your IEMs, have a loom/individual cables ready to connect your system to theirs - the more you can do in advance of the 20/30 minute changeover, the smoother it'll be. If you don't do this and just rock up 10 minutes before your changeover and say "can you plug this in?", you'll likely not be met with enthusiasm, but if you've properly advanced it you'll generally find techs will be plenty accomodating and happy to find a solution that works for all involved.
  4. Yes I Do - Gregory Isaacs
  5. Whilst I take your point, has your drummer’s dad sold 120 million albums worldwide?
  6. Assuming it is a Spector Legend from your description. Almost certainly the knobs are volume, pan, bass and treble. generally volume at the front and pan closest to the pickups, but sometimes spector change that for a laugh. bass and treble should be reasonably apparent.
  7. @Grooverjr: Is Schönberg bad music, because I happen to like it or is it bad, because there are lots of others who don't? (By the way, I am not so keen on Bach, Pastorius, and Nirvana. But I have played or sang some of their work on gigs.)
  8. Very nice indeed, GLWTS.
  9. Excellent condition (pedal almost ‘as new’, box is a little more beaten) MXR Studio Comp. This is famously EXACTLY the same circuit as the MXR Bass Comp, but with a different enclosure. MXR did this to sell it more effectively to the guitar market. To be fair, I think it looks smarter than the Bass Comp. This is MXR’s take on an 1176 comp I believe. Not much else to say, solid pedal, nice transparent sound, effective compression. Cool. £120 inc UK postage. No trades unless you have a Guild Starfire II in ‘Natural’ or a Sire P5R 5 string in white (+money your way of course 😅). Cheers Si

  10. You Don't Own Me - Lesley Gore
  11. I have no idea, I just know my wife likes Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, 90's grunge and dance. Some of the jazz I've played her she has liked and some has just been disjointed noise. I suspect this might be the latter. Not sure if that answers your question.
  12. Ah, like a participation award. That's what the pyramid stage is used for now! The drummers dad is over 80, he likes getting up for a sing, he's not great but he has a go and people seem to enjoy it, maybe I can see if we can get him booked for Glastonbury next time
  13. Thanks for your comments-yes a truly beautiful looking and sounding bass.
  14. Does anyone own or has played one of these? Are they any good ? Where I live it's slim pickings for choice when it comes to picking up a half decent 5 string fretless at a reasonable price however a couple of Dean's have recently come up for sale within driving distance. I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts please 🤔 Thanks
  15. Under Your Thumb - Godly & Creme
  16. Quick update to say I'll be in Manchester this coming weekend, the 14th and 15th June, if anyone near there is keen and it'll save on delivery costs.
  17. the ever so closely guarded line - Cardiacs
  18. I have decided to keep this and move back to my larger pedal board to accommodate it. It is just too good to give up.

@Basvarken: Can't say I could play those monsters, but they do look kool!
  20. Just my two cents... That Jack Daniels, as well as the oak necked instruments are the best looking, because the graphics continue through all parts, including neck. I love that yellow black scheme, but how about tinting the neck, too? 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th fret, should they be black or yellow?
  21. I see some of rod Stewart as miss RB was watching it, even though he was out of tune I did find it entertaining and good for him for having a go at his age, also I think his bass player changed basses 3 times, one looked like an early 70s P
  22. Any Real/Fake book is like that. You choose when to play double tempo, or whatever during playing, or before the session. That's it. I know some songs by heart, but a Fake book library is super helpful. Now, when the books are in PDF format, I can carry thousands of songs with me in just one tablet. Very different that 30-40 years ago, when everything was on paper. My bass bags were filled with paper. And every time some paper was missing. Thanks to you, @Bilbo as well as @ChrisDev and @tomread! Your impeccable work has saved me numerous times. I can also say that MuseScore pages have usually something usable, although the bass is not the most popular instrument there - but for a head start, or chart...
  23. If the music only works as musicianship and isn't something a non-musician can appreciate then is it good music, or just good technique? The best stuff works on both levels, with the musicianship adding a dimension but not getting in the way.
  24. Welcome to the club! Don't call yourself shallow, colour is an important part of a bass! I would not touch a sunburst with a stick 🤪 Regarding bright flats, here's an infodump for you:
