  1. Past hour
  2. Plus, at the local level, we find it hard to get people to get off their backsides and pay a fiver at the door to come see us. Please, restrain yourselves from commenting on the quality of the fare on offer, you scamps - you know what I mean!
  3. Indeed. I think you're effectively paying £100 just to be in a room with them. So many of these big gigs are a disappointemnt, too. I'm not a Cure fan really (I've never really tried), but Robert Smith speaks eloquently and passionately about this and I really respect that. Didn't they do something where ticket prices were limited to a price ceiling?
  4. When I saw The Darkness last year Justin Hawkins, in between songs, announced that The Darkness` No 1 fan, Karl, was in the audience that eve. He then said, Karl, as you`re our No 1 fan how about putting your effing phone away and watching us. Did get a big laugh - rather ironically from many who were holding their phones up.
  5. I was heartened to see The Fureys farewell tour is around £25 a ticket and they're playing a huge number of smaller venues. I can't ever see me going to a large stadium again. I would love to see Paul McCartney, but not in a stadium
  6. Aye... But I looked into buying Kraftwerk tickets recently - seemed they were doing the same dynamic pricing nonsense. Tickets at £50odd suddenly leapt up to £100+ for no apparant reason. I wouldn't mind but Kraftwerk haven't done any new music for 30ish years and are now not much more than a tribute band!
  7. This is curious. Here's a flux pic of the Benedetti SCs in my Excess and the mag field (blue) shows through the centreline of the pickup where the poles are. On the pic above the flux seems to be showing as a halo rather than through the centreline. Having said that, I don't know why mine are showing a white halo!
  8. From Ecuador
  9. Likewise, I saw Rush at Deeside Leisure Centre around 1979 /80, saw most of the big name rock and New Wave bands around at that time, never paid more than a fiver. These days I occasionally catch older bands playing the smaller venues (OMD most recently), wouldn't contemplate going to the bigger ones. I think tours used to be seen as potentially loss-making promotion for album sales, now like everything else it's just a money-making machine.
  10. A lot of the Oasis stuff was about generating a false sense of scarcity. So many people attended those gigs to prove they were there and you weren't. A friend of mine went and said that about 80% of the crowd spent the gig filming it on their phones. It's utterly pathetic. I've heard similar stories of Paul McCartney gigs, etc.
  11. Hi all, Rationalising the collection after far too many recent purchases. All prices include postage in the UK. Payment via bank transfer is preferred, but Paypal is fine if you cover the fees. Iron Ether Super Frantabit - Two Frantabits in one box! Arrived this week, and I wanted to love it, but I own 5 bit crushers and tonally, other stuff I have works better for me. These are super rare, and I'm wanting to pass this on to a good home, so am selling it for less than it cost to buy, ship, and pay the VAT. I'm hoping this bucks the trend of crazy scalping on boutique pedals at the moment. Grab a pedal at a fair price, but please don't do it to resell at a higher price! £400 posted. Boss SL-20 Slicer - One of my all time fav odd-effects. This version is, IMO, easier to use than the new SL-2, be it with a larger footprint. Works great, boxed, excellent condition. Velcro on the bottom, but the original rubber feet are included and can be put pack with a dab of PVA. £125 posted. DOD Meatbox - Reissue version. Doesn't need an introduction! Boxed, immaculate. £115 posted. Mission Engineering Expressionator - Purchased from new 3 months ago. Perfect condition. Velcro on the bottom. £170 posted. COG Effects Custom Solid Snake Blender - Two effects loops, each with volume and phase control. One foot switch flip flops between loop A and B, the other engages both in parallel. Amazingly useful, combining a couple of the Boss LS-2 settings into one. Note this has the sends and returns wired in reverse of most pedals (send on the right, return on the left) - I assume to better suit the original owners pedalboard set up. Aside that, works perfectly. £70 posted (a bargain for anything made by COG!). Buy more than one and I'll give you a discount.
  12. I would never pay £BigMoney to see a band at the Enormodome - firstly you can barely see 'em, sound in a huge hanger is usually terrible, there's no sense of intimacy and there's 20000 other people there who've also paid well over the odds. But unfortunately, while people pay stupid prices (Oasis!) the stupid prices will exist.
  13. I saw this at the bash on Sunday, I used to have one. It's being sold by a gent that knows amps inside out (literally). This is a bargain gem. Good luck with the sale, Tony. It was great to meet you in Taunton.

  15. And to think that I saw the Who in 1969 for 7/6d, that's seven shillings and six pennies, and they played the whole of Tommy and a few hits.
  16. Nige bought my Strat neck - all good, quick payment.
  17. Welcome @Hypo199
  18. IME the age of the audience also depends on the genre of the music. Whilst a good proportion of the audiences I play to are in their 50s and 60s there are plenty much younger who come and see us. At the next gig we're playing, AFAIK, the rest of the bands are all in their 20s.
  19. I won't pay it and hate stadium gigs anyway, my next gig is the Undertones at Rock City £35 plus booking fee £5.38 and £1.50 e ticket download I hate these extras that are unavoidable, much as I don't like Government interference it really is time they put a stop to this, The headline price should be the price you pay, it's ridiculous, £1.50 to send you an E-ticket, where's the justification in that? If people didn't pay the high price for the big name gigs they wouldn't charge it, supply and demand init?
  20. It’s a very good point by Tim about the demographics of gig attendance. I don’t think it’s only the bigger acts and venues, either. The more modest venues I attend, like the Flowerpot in Derby, seem to be generally filled with people middle-aged an upwards. Going to see live music seems less of a young person thing now.
  21. Hi all, I have this set and have to say it plays well - no noticeable latency, sound feels right and can drive different headphones (from KZ ZS X Pro to Sennheiser hd650). My only gripe is hiss - when first turned on, it's barely noticeable but then as I play (even a few minutes) it builds up to the point it's really annoying. Not too bad on over-ear cans, but with a relatively sensitive BA in-ear set with lots of highs like ZS X, it drives me crazy. I was wondering if anybody else also got such issues with this wireless set? Cheers, Kuba
  22. Was at the same gig, but we missed most of Janes Addiction beccause my wife was getting a tattoo and it took longer than we had planned for - had to get a taxi from hornchurch to the O2, but luckily it was so late it was easy to get in and there werent any crowds, it all worked well, and enjoyed the gig. But yes, 3 and a bit hours there and back, but we stayed overnight so another £100 or so for a hotel, and the cost of the tattoo, and the shopping the following day, all in all the cost of the ticket was practically nothing! But in general going to london is very expensive, so we haven't been in a long time now. We went up for Too in 22l, but that had been the first for a while and probably the last for a long time (apart from gatwick on the way to new york, but that doesn't really count). There are no groups that I would pay over £100 to see and that seems almost normal for there now.
  23. One thing I really liked getting was a digital photo frame loaded with band pics, old gig posters, and random rehearsal shots—super personal and fun. I used https://www.nixplay.com/ to set mine up, and it's been a cool way to keep those moments alive in my practice space. You can even add or change photos remotely, so it stays fresh without much effort.
  24. That is the joke - selling it for more than RRP (which no one ever pays anyway) after the mega special discount sale 🙂
