I think this is why I don't work with valves and large voltages. I've read this 2-3 times. It looks like English, it sounds English but I think it's actually in Klingon. Hope you sleep well and I look forward to whatever you do being done.

We're primarily an 80s band, but we don't enforce a cut-off date of 31st December 1989 or ignore anything released before 1st January 1980. The earliest song in our repertoire is Suffragette City (1972) and the most recent is Take Me Out (2004). But they're mainly 80s - here's our full list: Another Girl Another Planet Baby I Love You (Ramones cover) Back On The Chain Gang Bohemian Like You Call Me Cars and Girls Chance China Girl Crash (the Primitives song) Dakota Dignity Disco 2000 Don’t You Forget About Me Don’t You Want Me Echo Beach Everybody Wants To Rule The World German Film Star Going Underground Hanging On The Telephone Happy Birthday (the Altered Images song) Heart of Glass I Don’t Want A Lover I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll (Joan Jett rather than the Arrows) In Between Days Just Like Heaven Killing Moon Little Bird Long Train Running Losing My Religion Love Like Blood Love Shack Love Will Tear Us Apart Mandinka New Year's Day Perfect Skin Pretty In Pink Pride (In The Name Of Love) Psycho Killer Purple Rain Reward Rip It Up Running Up That Hill She Sells Sanctuary Should I Stay Or Should I Go Slippery People Somewhere In My Heart Suedehead Suffragette City Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This Tainted Love Take Me Out Teenage Kicks The Honeythief The One I Love There Is A Light That Never Goes Out There She Goes This Charming Man Town Called Malice White Wedding Whole Of The Moon

Ampeg V4B Reissue 100w Valve Amp. In great condition and always kept in the Ampeg Cover sleeve. Only 6 months old and very light use, gigged it a few times and it's excellent. This is beautifully paired with a matching Ampeg SVT 212A. They both have almost brand new Ampeg Soft Covers too. Only selling as I use my new Barefaced 310 which is magnificent and I would like to purchase the Aguilar DB751 which is on here, if it goes I will probably withdraw this or would trade for a Hiwatt DR103 or 201 plus cash. Happy to help with delivery / meet up somewhere if that helps. No offers, price is firm. The Ampeg V-4B bass guitar amplifier head is a modern reissue of the legendary, much-loved original model that was first released in 1971. The Ampeg V-4B features all-valve pre- and power-amps, with the power amp producing 100 watts thanks to its compliment of four 6L6GC valves. The pre amp comes equipped with a pair of 12AX7 tubes and includes a driver section that is fitted with a single 12AX7 and a single 12AU7 valve. The pre amp also features a three-band EQ with Ultra Hi/Lo switches and a three-position rocker switch that selects the mid tone frequency. To give the Ampeg V-4B a more modern edge, it comes equipped with a -15dB input for use with active instruments, an integrated balanced DI output and multiple speaker outputs.

I've spent some time yesterday and today, carefully commissioning the amp. I found a couple of screen grid connections that had somehow escaped soldering, so fixed that. The amp is working, in the sense that it produces output but I need to tweak the bias circuit as at present it's way too hot (over 200% of rated dissipation), even on the lowest pot setting and 180V mains supply. The over-hot bias is likely responsible for the hum I'm hearing (regardless of control positions). There is no audible oscillation when I raise the master volume, so the phase of the NFB connection is correct. I also used my oscilloscope to check for oscillation outside the audible range, and again there's nothing. I've done enough for today. Working on amps into the evening really messes up my sleep! A bit more work over the weekend and I'll be there.

The classic, I think it is called. P1.

My old one. It has to be said though, whomever decorated this rehearsal room in Sainsbury's colours needs to be humanely destroyed.

I owned a wee J&D P-bass for a while. Was a cracking wee thing 😎 Maple/Rosewood neck. Alder body so pretty light. Think the pickup was ceramic, bright and lively. Never had any issue with hardware. Thought it was a bargain at £104. Great if black/tort is your taste 👍 I'm afraid the gap between owning my PB-20 and the J&D shorty was too long for an honest comparison.

If this amp is that good it deserves a cab that doesn't get in the way or arbitrarily alter the sound. 2 makes immediately spring to mind that would fit that description perfectly.

Bow Finishing in Godstone, Surrey. https://www.bowfinishing.co.uk/ I believe they do the finishing work for Bernie Goodfellow (GB Guitars)……..enough said. I’m not affiliated with them, but if Bernie places work there, they must be good. Probably loads of other reputable finishers within the M25 area.

Damn, decided to go for the 800D given stock arrived in the UK today AND THEY’RE SOLD OUT ALREADY 😡

@Paul Geary much love being given to your boss! For those who don't know, Paul is Nik's bass player 😎

I must dig out my two 1516 stories, one in which it broke the singer’s car, the other in which it created its own horizon rendering it apparently invisible to the human eye 👍

For the last 11 years I’ve been thinking one of these would be perfect for one of my gigs. But now that gig has dried up to maybe 3-4 a year max, so seems a bit pointless! Hope you get yours sorted @tauzero
