  1. Past hour
  2. Surprised you didn't recommend this. It's woody by definition.😀 I'll get my coat
  3. Agreed, I need to gig the Hofner Club and my Gibson Thunderbird more often. Daryl
  4. Thanks Dave, We have 3 " hot" gigs in a row under our belts now. This Saturday we're doing a Harley event with a 12 noon start time. This won't be The Harley Motor Restaurant . I believe this will be a dealership event. Daryl
  5. A fair few answers there, much appreciated. I will check out the suggestions mentioned. As always it's a question of available funds. If I could afford it I would just buy one of everything ! 😆 My current amp will do about 300 watts into one of the 2x10 cabs, 600 into both cabs, however each one weighs 21kg which is the downside to it. My fitnmess is currently ok but I'm not getting any younger, and am built like Mr Bean, so really just trying to make things a bit lighter, more compact and manageable for me to lug around when it comes to it. Both my electric and the acoustic do sound great through the current rig though and have found the room eq/ hi/low pass/notch section on the amp to be a genuinely useful feature. I am intending on this being a 3 piece, 4 at most, no full drum kit, more percussion/cajon so nothing too intense. Gig wise small-medium pub size venues will be the aim initially.
  6. Maybe Gregory Peck (The Wooden Actor...)..? ...
  7. You could try running the search in google with site:www.basschat.co.uk/<the for sale area you want to search> and -sold
  8. Beautiful! Daryl
  9. That's what I call a "high end" gig. Nice. Daryl
  10. They made semi-acoustic models.
  11. Great price for one of these 😍
  12. Becky is a lovely person, engaging, very chatty and a delight to be in the company of. I know Becky deps with said Metallica tribute when they need a bassist too and stayed over for random vegan breakfast à chez Dood when they played this way a while back. Definitely works very hard managing/publicising Fury and playing in with Mercyful Fate. Great work ethic and "can do" attitude. What was it Nathan East said? "Attitude + Aptitude = Altitude"
  13. All prices reduced yet further (22 Aug 25) and delivery to UK included. I made space on my pedal board for an HX One. It replaced my the pedal I thought I'd never sell, my Creation Audio Grizzy. So I now have 4 pedals sitting around doing not a lot and a hankering for a Stomp Black Country Custom The 85 Octave £75 TC Electronics 3rd Dimension Chorus £15 RC Booster in photo is sold. Flattley Poison Ivy Fuzz in photo is sold. Grizzly now sold. All in top condition. In fact the 85, 3rd Dim and Flattely are like new. All boxed except for the Grizzly (I will keep looking). Velcro'd as per the photos. Peter

  15. Those Roswells look a bit lovely! I might put those on another one of my violin basses
  16. Today
  17. I know a nice place to have a burger and pint in Caernarfon that isn't fun to get to from here...
  18. I don’t know how big the magnet is on the back of a Celestion 12” speaker…. but that’s what I used as a bass rest for about 5 minutes. Then it dawned on me what I’d just done. Schoolboy error.

  20. If you know, you know. Considering you joined here 3hrs ago and are already asking this question, I doubt people will respond as you're likely to be confused for a certain Mr Hall

  22. Hi All, Our band's debut album is now available on Bandcamp and the usual other streaming outlets. Recorded at the excellent Crosstown studios in Liverpool earlier this year, we're pretty happy with the results. Please give it a listen, any feedback would be greatly appreciated. https://awkland.bandcamp.com/album/epithreat Cheers folks! Neil
  23. Although a humorous answer, this isn't a bad example. Even if you bang a big wooden box, play the strings of a cello, acoustic guitar, mallet the notes on a glockenspiel, they all have certain characteristics in common where you should be able to tell that said thing is made of wood. (Unless you're the amateur sound engineer I encountered who seemingly couldn't hear anything above about 1khz..) Therefore, it wouldn't be out of the realms of possibility to suggest they have a 'woody tone'. And all have a lot going on in the mid-range frequencies, over, say, hammering a lump of steel or slapping someone around the face with a kipper. Yes, don't get pedantic, there's always the odd exception to the rule and as I said earlier, the rest of the signal chain can make a big difference too, but, isolating the instrument alone, those woody frequencies are in broadband mids. Another trick is to roll of the very low bass frequencies and have a gentle roll off in the treble. The Bergantino B|Amp has both low and high pass filters on it that are brilliant for carving the ends of the frequency spectrum. Brilliant!
  24. Depends I suppose. I think I could play whatever in my hard rock band, but in my life I've been in two bands with an 'image', pop punk and indie. I guess the extreme example would be a tribute band.
