  2. Decision made on the ziricote / sapele build. After a lot of back and forth about whether to clear it in nitro, I’m keeping this one natural. It’s currently in the process of being oil sanded through to 3000 grit, and once fully cured it’ll be finished in a satin to mid-gloss wax. The ziricote has so much natural contrast and character that burying it under heavy gloss just didn’t feel right. And the sapele back is starting to show some lovely chatoyance as the oil builds — that subtle shimmer when the light moves across it. The neck will be glossier, so there’ll be a deliberate contrast — tactile body, slick playing surface. Still in progress, but I’m liking where this is heading. MGCS – Made to Play. Built to Last.
  3. If they were of any decent quality, they should be good for another 20-30 years. What about where preamps (and in some cases power amps) generate more harmonics than you consider "low distortion" yet sound big and clean. I'm talking about more common tube amp topologies that are considered clean but don't measure as such. Actually, it's a great speaker when properly designed around and used within the limits of the design. I have a lot of experience with custom variants of this driver that I designed, tens of thousands, and experienced very few issues. Correct, but some cabinet manufacturers didn't truly understand the limits and thus placed ridiculous claims of power handling when playing the spec. game. Then, players incorrectly believing what they were told (marketed to) unintentionally beat the hell out of them. It's all about providing an accurate presentation of the speaker's capabilities.
  4. I saw that it had been sold, was it you jimi
  5. yeah...I think I agree with your generalization I also think Bass Players might be more adventurous (Collective) then Guitar Players (Collective)
  6. I have been considering this dying to maple necks that have sounded good. Dark is the colour for me. Good ideas here.

  10. After a little puzzling, I realised that you meant scratchplate, not fingerboard.

  15. Wampler Terraform high quality programmable modulation pedal. Info from Wampler - 11 custom designed effects blocks, from Flanger to Phaser, Chorus to U-Vibe, Harmonic Tremolo to Envelope Filter, you know everything about it is going to be perfect. In one incredibly small package, you can control any of the 8 presets via midi, you can assign an expression pedal to control ANY of the main five controls, you can run it in full glorious stereo or keep it in mono... you can even split that mono signal to route some effects to go before your drive pedals, or amp gain, and have the rest follow behind or in your effects loop! When you put the Terraform into your rig, you know that not only will you get that legendary Wampler tone, but you will get the most easy to use, hugely versatile and best sounding collection of modulations you could ever want Photos ASAP
  16. @Happy JackJack and anyone else with experience.... Picking up on this old thread, I've recently joined a project where nobody else wants to sing BVs, and a lead plus a single BV sounds weak/wrong... I have zero experience of harmonisers, but I've always assumed they need the lead vocal to "calculate" the 3rd and 5th... However, any idea how I could use one to create the other harmonies from my BV voice? The only way I can think of is singing unison with the LV, and mute that in the output? Any constructive thoughts would be welcomed!
  17. I'm not familiar with them. What's their story?
  18. The band sounds great and the lighting is very nice. Daryl
  19. I know mate, 😁 I have noticed while messing with tuners, there is only a few different ones. The Schaller on the T40, are basically Grover, the Leo Quan, are nothing special, I have a set and there's no difference to STD tuners, it's all a con. Just because they have a 'name' on them.... 😎
  20. Awesome to see Chas ‘n’ Dave in amongst that list!
  21. Sounds like a good gig Dave. I've got my first 2026 gig Thursday night at The Fox Town in Mequon. It'll be a half hour commute. I'm not sure if I'm driving or riding in the van. It's an upscale bar / restaurant that does a fantastic job with local bands. Nice room with a very nice stage. We'll be providing our own sound. We'll bring minimal lighting and smoke. The place has a built in crowd. This is our second gig there. Last time the place was packed. Daryl
