I'm in, although it's not going to be much of a challenge because I live somewhere that provides zero temptation. It will at least make me think before burdening anyone who decides to come and visit with things I don't need anyway.

Marc S started following Where can I get some decent bass sized straight edges?
-
As per my title - I'm looking for a couple of straight edges, suitable for bass. I've tried searching online and eBay, and despite including the word "bass" - the search comes back with guitar sized straight edges. Ideally, I need a notched 34" edge, but ideally I want a plain (non-notched) straight edge too. I've looked at Toolstation, but couldn't see anything suitable. Any links to known decent suppliers are very welcome. Happy New Year fellow BC'ers 😀

I’d love to, his family do sounds like an absolute hoot. However, word is that we’ve been booked for next year already. That said, after I’d left a couple of aggressive, coked up boys came up to our guitarist and said, “You were shite!” Our guitarist is a big lad and, unbeknownst to them, a former kick boxing champion. He just said, “Don’t do it,” and they took his advice. After that, I might just kick it into touch next NYE. What is with some folk, you’re perfectly entitled to not like us, but don’t come up and actually say it. The mind boggles 🤦🏻.

Bravo @skankdelvar, I look forward to your stab at Merry Crassmas by Crass next year. Mind you, 8 entries and only 6 voters? We can't even get ourselves to vote, let alone anyone else 😁 -
Interesting. Looks like a stripped down version in terms of having purely bass focussed patches, and buttons to directly access these, a smaller screen, but otherwise very similar to the GX10. Wonder if Boss abandoned this as the GX10 covers everything this does and a fair bit more? Or if it's still planned for release? Just spotted that same eBay site has a Boss GX-1 for guitar also "ex demo". Makes me wonder if this might be a clone / scam, if neither are on the Boss website?

W1_Pro started following Hamer Blitz bass?
-
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/187850638336 This is an odd thing. It would be very cheap for an actual Blitz bass. I can't find a pic of a Blitz online that looks quite like this one. They seem to have a straight 'P' type headstock whereas this has the droopy/raked (delete as applicable) Explorer type. In fact, the bass is the very image of an Epiphone Explorer save for the Hamer transfer on the headstock. Right down to the shape of the scratchplate. Anyone with any knowledge of these things care to share an opinion?

Some more Pastorius but this is Felix! From the 2013 Yellowjackets album, 'A Rise In The Road'. this is the tune 'When The Lady Dances'. Great little tune that has some interesting harmonic shifts but the groove sits nicely. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/when-the-lady-dances-yellowjackets/

That is weird, it literally only exists on that eBay advert. i wonder if it's a prototype?

It's back up to £475 now. I assume it was a mistake that took a while to rectify over the Christmas period. I remember a similar thing with, I think, an EUB and amp package a few years back. I ordered one of them but it never came through. Cynical me wonders if it's done on purpose to get folks looking at the site over Christmas and New Year. Although the Fazley Jazzes down from £175 to £63 (with the 10%) came through OK.

Comparing it to the American Elite was never going to be a fair comparison, as the Elite is the best of the Fender American Deluxe lineage with an 18V preamp onboard. But I have compared it to a prototype Nitro Okoume Jazz with roasted maple neck/fingerboard that Silky999 built, which has Fender Pure Vintage 66 pickups in it, and it's not far behind. Obviously the cheap Fazley pickups aren't going to be as rich sounding as the Fender ones, but it has a nice Jazz bass scooped sound and it's very nice to play.

I’ve seen several 8 string Hagstroms go in our local market. I was kinda shocked to see several around from the old days. A girl in a local punk band is making them popular again. Good player. She drives the bus.

So why bother next year? Why don't you just slope off to the keyboard players NYE family!

Already done... except I hung the slip cover on the washing line in the sun.. Seems to have yielded a bit of an improvement.

Hows it compare to the fender? As they're side by side there. Feel, weight, sound etc.
