TBH Country is so formulaic that it doesn't surprise me it could be auto-generated. -

Annoying things about playing bass

I'd ensure logs are seasoned at least a year, two for oak, and have a moisture content of below 20% before burning. As for bass, you need a flashy one as it's all about showing off, so you'll need to stand at the front and slap it like there's no tomorrow, preferably while hiding any guitar players behind you. -

Tom Barney used to play that model for a while during his time in Steely Dan. I saw him use it live a couple of times and it always sounded great. If you’re looking to keep the bass rather than flip it, it should be a lovely instrument to own and play.A friend of mine who is a touring bassist in a well known singer’s band used ESP basses for years as he had an endorsement with them. He always speaks highly of the quality and the sound. In fact I am fairly sure ESP did some work for Sadowsky with the Japanese built Metro Express basses as well.

I hadn't heard of them before this one. I thought they were doing Northern Lights with this one. And I wonder if they've heard Kayleigh? https://youtu.be/2FHhMS43fjY

Geoff purchased a Stingray from me and was an absolute pleasure to deal with. Thanks again Geoff!

So my deepest thanks to @sushiboxfx for the terrific guitar FX units. Sent off already. 😃 The school is still looming for bass compressors though. I’ve bought 2 but funds are now dry (house move with no flooring tapped us out)….. sooooooo, if there is anyone who has a decent bass compressor they don’t use or need, and would be willing to donate to a very worthy cause… please reach out. It would be amazing. Kind regards Julian aka Glassmoon

"AI slop hits new high as fake country artist goes to #1 on Billboard digital songs chart" https://www.theregister.com/2025/11/10/ai_country_artist_hits_number_one/ I wonder if we'll get to a point where the AI system that made the music will want to be credited as the song creator and get the Royalties. -

I've stopped buying thru Amazon as i bought a set of D'addario EXL's and they didn't sound their usual bright tone when i fitted them but had no option but but gig them the following night but they literally lasted 1-2 gigs and they were dead. To be fair these had no signs of being used and the pack was sealed when i got it but no trust in Amazon suppliers that they were genuine strings. Now i stick to Strings Direct, Andertons, Guitar Guitar or other well known shops for my strings. Dave

It is a sociable instrument - not ideal for playing alone, but in a band you generally stand at the back and support the band. It isn't an instrument for showing off, people won't notice when you're doing it right - but they'll notice when you're doing it wrong. ....I think it is guitarists that get made to play bass that'd get annoyed by that. (these are big generalisations though - obviously there are a few virtuoso bass players front and centre).

I have a professional interest in athletes and drug use. I was reading about Victor Conte who was one of the big players in the US steroid scene who died a few days back, and came across this. I wonder how many other quite successful bassists have found notoriety elsewhere.....?

Great read! Beautifully written and fantastic photos, very professional. Makes me want to dig out my CL and 410 from under the stairs, such a waste. - Today

I hadn't really heard of him until Mesa used him to sell the Subway cabs when they were released. I then had to see who he was but he appears to be one of those players that was well sought after and has played with a lot of people / bands. Very interesting style. Dave

Bought around 12 mths ago as a B Stock from Guitar Village. The B stock label is due to the paint dent on the arm contour. I have drop filled it slightly with black nail varnish and it has never bothered me but it is there. I upgraded the wiring to a 60’s style loom from Jagged Offset guitars and had a full set up at PSG Guitars in Radcliffe where my favourite Elites strings were fitted. It has had a bridge cover previously fitted and i do still have the tugbar somewhere. Can provide an old shaped case of needed. Collection would be from Bolton but can discuss meetups and potentially UK postage

Annoying things about playing bass
Steve Browning replied to Firewood-player's topic in General Discussion
Annoying things? Not being able to play something you want to. Luckily I've been playing long enough not to face that one. Pub landlords who treat you as an annoyance when you're bringing people into their pub. Not sure we'd use the final word you use in your last post. Just saying. -

Mermaid Lament - the boats are abandoned on shore and the fisherman have gone. As the mermaids sing for their loss, sounds represent the waves carrying their lament to the beach, while the bass pounds steadily like the countdown of time ticking away...
