Think of the neck pickup volume as your master volume, and the bridge pickup volume as the "hollow twang" knob and you'll be ok leaving it turned down. Under no circumstances should the "hollow twang" knob be turned up on its own 😆

I’ve mostly been using green preset 1 and that covers a lot of ground for me. I’d still buy it even if that’s the only sound I can get out of. It’s so hard to get a nice “chowmph” that feels organic and responds to your technique but this one is the one that feels and sounds right for me. Even my 3leaf Trifecta can only do so much. Simply wire the pickup in parallel as it's what makes the sound of the Stingray (even the fiver model) coupled to the typical 2 bands EQ preamp that the Musikding classic preamp reproduces very well. It totally depends on what you're looking for, flatwound strings can be really great sounding just like roundwound strings on any bass, not only Jazz Basses.

I just got back from a first session with a new rock and blues type band. We are all middle aged and up. The lady time I played bass in a band, the bass was by my knees, but now it's past my waist. I'm old....😩 I played a Sire V5 through a tech 21 VT Bass 500 head into an Orange OBC 115. Really nice sounding, but not a lot of projection at floor level. I might switch out for a TC Electronic k 212 (also a lot lighter). The material was pretty much all new to me; my background is punk and metal but I really miss playing. Some of the stuff had been really difficult to learn , and I need to work on my charting. I'm not sure if this will last, but I'm giving it a few practices to see if it gels.

Had a rehearsal today with the local pop classics and northern soul covers band with our new dep drummer which went really well for him. We covered a couple of sets. 2½ hours of playing, 2 hours chat!
