hi, it is to cycle through presets without bending down. very useful, last week we did Remember the time straight into Material girl (preset 1 into preset 2) life saver! I like the AMT very much, very capable for its size. warms up the tone quite nicely, can even provide low gain tube hair. loads of options available via switches too. Alembic tube pre based according to description, but I haven’t tried the real deal for comparison.

Short scale bass (30”) Olympic white, alder body “C”-shaped maple neck and a pau ferro fingerboard. Pickups are a PJ configuration which are full size vintage-style single-coils. The controls are volume and tone, with a 3-position toggle switch. Sound’s great and comfortable to play. With good soft carry case. Any trial. Location WV14. Would consider shipping. Cheers Geoff

This is genius; soulful, beautiful, funny and sad.

Absolutely, Chris Wood is about as good as it gets on DB and both MMW and The Wood Brothers are well worth a listen 👍

Musicman Stingray - Such a love/hate relationship
Patrick Francis replied to Linus27's topic in Bass Guitars
It’s refreshing to see so many others frustrated with their Stingrays - I had 4 of them, along with a Sabre and a US Sterling, Back in the late 80’s and 90’s I had very little understanding of tone and gain stages. 87-91 I was using a Trace Elliott sold state amp, (the one with the black light) I used a pick and a chorus pedal. I had terrible tone but I didn’t even know it. When warmer more organically produced rock music kicked in with the grunge stuff, I moved on to a precision and an SVT. I found the Stingray NEVER sounded good with a pick - unless I went for the over the top Cure, Simon Gallup, Disintegration pick tone. They never took to drive as well as passive basses. They had a thin ‘snock’ sound that didn’t fit in a mix. They’re prohibitively heavy. I wasn’t aware of their weight in my 20’s, now I’m 64 it’s a deal breaker. The most recent Ray I had was over 12 pounds, I never picked it up. I have to admit the Sterling was a nice reprieve, fabulous sound, lovely weight, it just felt a little small on me. -

Hi all, here we have my NUX Melvin Lee Davis Preamp. Purchased the original from Andertons in June of 2024, but the DI went faulty, so they sent me a brand new one as a replacement a month ago. I've used it only to rehearse 3-4 times using the Aux + headphone jack. Selling as I'm going back to using amps/cabs, and this (or rather its predecessor) I was using directly into the PA. Here's a link to all the info from NUX; https://nuxaudio.com/product/mldbasspreampdi/ A shortened version of features; IR loader Acts as an audio interface Switchable amp and cab models (need to connect to PC to do so) Drum machine built in when connected to PC (this is a cool feature) 3-band EQ with sweepable kids Headphones input Aux input Switchable drive circuit with blend knob DI out. I'll chuck in the power supply for it that I purchased, as they don't as standard come with one, so it'll be ready to go for any new owner. I CAN post this if required ( for once!), but collection is also possible from Moreton in Marsh (Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire/Warwickshire border). Any questions, please fire away! Thanks for looking!

Interesting you mentioned reverb. I've just been trying to figure the difference in sound between what I thought were two identical fx patches but which felt like they had a distinct flavour through my IEMs at a gig on Saturday night. I've since done a bit of digging and one has a reverb ('hall') block omitted from the other, which I'd not spotted before! Always thought that reverb was more of a thing for vox and guitar than bass, but I've clearly been missing a trick!

Iron Ether Super Frantabit Bitcrusher - price drop
pantherairsoft posted a topic in Effects For Sale
Super rare Iron Ether Super FrantaBit - basically two FranaBits in one box, with foot switches to flip flop between them both, as well as switch between Degrade and Obliterate mode. One of the most versatile and sought after Bit Crushers ever made. Grab this now, without the painfully long wait, shipping, and a massive VAT bill when it arrives in the UK! Now £385, inc postage in the UK. Selling this to buy a Hologram Microcosm (had one, massive regrets over selling it), but will consider the following trades/part-exs: Hologram Microcosm, Maneco Labs Small Nimbus, Iron Ether Polytope, Providence Anadime Bass Chorus, Pedaltrain Terra 42, Cioks AC10.-

Looking to sell my Mesa Walkabout Scout 112 valve combo. I bought it with every intention to use it, but in reality all gigs I'm doing at the moment are all IEM/FoH jobbies and it's only current use is in the home, which of course its overkill for! Would like to hang on to it, and happy to if it doesn't find a home, but the money would be better invested elsewhere. In very good condition, some minor scuffing to corners, a scratch on one of the amp handles and a corroded screw on the bottom radiator but otherwise in beautiful condition. All works perfectly and sounds fantastic. Comes with its original cover too. Of course, this model is the one where you can slide the Mesa head out and use it with whatever rig you please if you fancy it, and the price for the head alone is great! I can't imagine needing more volume at most gigs, and the low end is absolutely HUGE. I'm not going to post this so will happily arrange to deliver or meet somewhere depending on distance, I'm pretty much smack bang in the middle of the country. Trades, I'd consider modern PJB combos but that's about all amp wise, open on other gear. Cheers!

The Johnny Osbourne album Truths And Rights has some organ , not sure if it’s a Hammond , at the beginning and at 2.43 onwards

Standard practice, every time I have pre-ordered something it seems they become available on general sale elsewhere before I get mine, complete waste of time. Bass Direct and the Gallery both had free stock available last week, not sure if any are left now.

Good idea and it works! I did the same for a Zoom B3 a while back. As for the price it seems fair as it's recent enough from launch so likely as new.
