My experience is that it is really variable and depends upon who is in charge in individual yards. To be fair the main issues are now in how the wood is grown, slow grown softwood is becoming rare and the species planted have changed. I noticed a steady downhill slope in the 30+ years I was restoring houses and I've a barn full of reclaimed Victorian timber 'just in case'. When I was doing this more regularly I used to check out the timber whenever I was in a yard and bought up the good pieces when I saw them which saved a lot of time compared with having to drive round looking to see who had the best stocks half way through a job. I'm such an old curmudgeon

I don't want to sound like a sychophant, but here, Basschat, is 'the place to shop'. Sometimes you may have to be a bit patient. I've bought some cracking gear, and recently bought a cab I've always wanted on here. I don't think there's anywhere more trustworthy and fairly priced.

IMA posted an IG story about this in response to ‘lots of questions about the price’ He stated that it’s due to high quality components and sparing no expense on subtle features, as well as development times etc. Said that the profit margins aren’t massively high in the industry and that it was all justified. Personally think it looks cool and really rate Ian and his content/energy etc… I’m sure there’s A LOT of people that can justify spending this much money on a pedal, or will happily spend it because it has his name on it... Personally I’m not one of those people. Would be interesting to see how how it compares to some of the other previously ‘high end’ equivalents… although this now makes them look like budget options 😅

Which definitely works (he says that it doesn't in the comments, let's see what he says to my reply on that).

Thank you so much, we really appreciate the feedback

Thank you so much, we always look to improve wherever we can, but we are only human like you say

Five days on, no updates 🙃 When I've bought kit from Japan, I seem to remember GB mail services giving a GB tracking number.

Wait a minute...... You mean I was supposed to actually use those 3 strings that aren't "E"? Well I never! 😉

Another big thank you to Bass Direct from me too. Been going periodically since they opened, most recently to collect my Cort Space 5 which was set up absolutely perfectly. Haven't put it down since! Mark and his team have always been helpful and knowledgeable, makes it worth the 4 hour round trip!

So you agree? Metal is noise to you, jazz is nonsense to me. I don't see the difference.

Thanks @Mike Brooks, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to that. I think I saw Thunder in Brum when they were supporting Marillion the early 80's and they were absolutely not my thing at all back then. I shall have to have a listen and see what I think now I no longer wear a Script for a Jester's Tear t-shirt and cowboy boots 😊

Does anyone know why, or have any theories as to why it's priced like this? I don't mind spending a few quid on a great pedal, but I feel like I'm missing something here.

As per title. Superb condition. Fantastic neck & fretboard. 9lb 8oz. Original hardcase, certificate, scratchplate etc all included. Collection Darlington, may do half way meet. Feedback available. SORRY, no courier, trades or offers. Try to find a cheaper one! Very reluctant sale. Many thanks for looking, Karl.

But the Nords are in the Blue finish below it? The SR500N-MAM

Be prepared for a looooooooooong wait. There is my 35" headless travel bass with hex pickup to build first! 🤣 As a complete aside, I've had occasional access to a MakerSpace over the past 18 months, close to the client site where I have been working away, and have been dabbling with laser engraving & 3D printing, relearning parametric CAD and some IOT stuff. Sadly the client is choosing to end the engagement early this month so I won't get to grips with the X-carve CC router. However I know I want one in my retirement workshop!
-
Well, that isn't a new new finish is it? the SR500 has always been brown. I always viewed that as their actual base serious model, if you want nords you go up the number range.

Just another reason Reverb's the place to shop
binky_bass replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
I've always found Reverb an awful place to shop... Almost every seller ups their price to compensate for fees, so if buying from a retailer via Reverb its far cheaper to buy direct. Most of the private sales have stupidly high prices. Its not bad if you are a private seller selling at a fair price as things normally sell quickly in the backdrop of the typically really high prices! -

I think the splash of grey in my beard gets me slightly less disrespectful treatment on Denmark Street than I had twenty years ago.... Go in, get ignored, ask a question, get treated like rubbish, some bloke walks in tk buy cheap strings and says he produces for random persons 1, 2, 3 and the staff may as well have wafted him with palm leaves and fed him grapes while carrying him around in a sedan chair.
