Oh, thanks for pointing that out! 😉 I'm singing it on Friday to a packed house and now I have to remember not to get it wrong. But not remember too hard or I definitely will!

...and as long as we talk about tonewoods, we should talk about toneshapes. Every shape has a resonance, where frequency is affected by density, and stiffness among other features. Neck is one long and moving object when hit. I hate this tonewood discussion because it is always and every time simplified to the wood species and the manufacturer. Physical specs and features do not interest anyone. Lame.

But species alone doesn't completely define wood density, it's also dependent on the climactic conditions where the tree was growing and to a certain degree what has happened to the wood after the tree was cut down. On top of that very few solid electric instruments are made out of a single piece of wood for the body or neck so therefore construction methods are also massively important. In the same way that the sound of a speaker cab is dependant on not only the technical specifications of the driver(s) housed in it but also, the size, rigidity and porting. In both cases trying to assign a sonic characteristic to a single attribute is foolish and pointless.

Wood species, and therefore density, makes a lot of difference in tone, as it directly impacts the resonant properties of an instrument. Speaker size alone doesn't. Interestingly I've noticed that a high percentage of those who think that wood density doesn't matter also think that the cone size does. 🤔

Oh interesting - I have a U4, but I have been using the cheap £20 wireless because it is stereo and having got used to stereo it is hard to go back to mono. I hadn't seen those, I was trying to find something that was stereo that was somewhere between the £20 and £300 range!

Update SGT -DI arrived and 15mins later it was back in its box and a request to return to Andertons was made Now I know why I didn’t keep it, it’s a nice pedal but I still thought mostly the grit wasn’t to my liking and although it had good EQ control I thought for over £300 it wasn’t adding much. For that reason I will keep an amp spare as a backup instead

The new blocks might please some users who were unhappy that the other amp blocks couldn’t be pushed into distortion.

Great choice, that Roland FP-30X, really!

3 of us have been using Xvive U4s for a while, which seems to be a decent mid-price range. Drummer has recently got a Swiff WX520 from Ali Express (they're currently just under £75) which he's really liking.

I know that you’re going to be even busier than before Tom, but it’d be great to hear how things go. We get lots of comments about venues on Basschat, but from the band’s point of view. It will be interesting to hear the story from the other side of the fence.

In fairness that is beautiful.

New amps and Darkglass have confirmed in the comments that they're working on synths... Really thinking an Anagram might be in the not too distant future for me.
