  2. Johnny, Don't Do It - 10cc
  3. Session bassists aren't just working in studios, they're playing live and touring with bands as well and thats where you might use something more interesting. Cradle Of Filth might be looking for their next bassist (there's been a lot) and they might want you to use an active bass with super bright tone and a huge effects board. They'll then fire you mid tour because Danny Filth got out the wrong side of his coffin that morning.
  4. A lovely Luthier made Jaz body with curly maple cap, Mahogany body Finished in clear Lacquer Neck pocket fits Fender sized necks Will come with the new bridge and strap pins on it Weight is just under 3kg's with the bridge and pins on Maple cap is 10mm thick Much better looking in the flesh Price to include shipping to the UK
  5. Couple of pedals not being used atm. Vapour trail, Easily one of my favourite anolog delays. Very similar to the carbon copy but with more flexibility. £80 posted Also one of my absolute favourite underrated fuzz sounds is the (now discontinued) Ebs Fuzzmo, cuts through the mix like a dream. £70 posted Both in perfect working condition, couple of tiny chips. Always happy to hear trades.
  6. I guess they're a lot younger than me and don't remember the halcyon days of bass rich pop, funk and fusion ☹️.... or more to the point, know that their audience don't. oh I feel old.
  7. To be fair, it's just as likely to be a Precision with rounds, but those are the two main reference sounds that most producers want!
  8. bastards!! be nice if the sound in their heads wasn't always a passive precision with flats 😂🤣
  9. I honestly think the Neve is the most usable preamp I’ve ever had. Brilliant thing.
  10. Added the Dirt Mixer, still not decided on which drives I want but for not I’ve opted for the Venus, Dagger and Halberd for a pretty wide range of options. Recording in a couple of weeks so still time to change things around. Still patiently waiting for a smaller version of the Bass Driver from EAE so I can go back to a more compact board 🤞
  11. Definitely don't show up with a Dingwall, Rickenbacker, Spector or anything else which is the tonal equivalent of a sledgehammer. If they don't want a full time bassist in the band, then they probably don't want an interesting bass sound. They want a Fender and they'll probably eq out all the character from it.
  12. QSC CP12 Active PA Speaker 1000 Watts One of two - priced individually or for a small discount if sold as a pair. This speaker is as new and has not been used since purchase. It comes with additional QSC waterproof cover for outdoor use. Very powerful speakers however I’m downsizing and selling my larger portable PA gear. Street price is £579 cheapest I can find so this is a good saving. The covers cost an extra £67. The user manual is included. I have two of these for sale. I can knock off £40 if you buy the pair. Pickup definitely preferred but talk to me if this is impossible. UK only. Postage would be at buyer’s cost and I’d need to source packaging as the boxes have been recycled. These speakers get glowing reviews in Sound on Sound magazine - https://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/qsc-cp-series I own a pair of QSC CP8s which are perfectly fine for keyboard monitoring and rehearsal PA so these aren’t needed now for personal use. Specifications from QSC below - Features Class-D amplifier with 1000W peak power output Selectable contours (presets) for quick setup Advanced DSP with Intrinsic Correction™ Superior sound quality and speaker protection Directivity Matched Transition™ (DMT) ensures uniform coverage across the entire sound field Suitable for use as a main PA, stage monitor or instrument amplifier 35mm pole mount socket Lightweight and incredibly portable Specifications Configuration: Two-Way Active Low Frequency Driver: 12'' Cone Woofer High Frequency Driver: 1.4'' Compression Frequency Response: 49Hz - 20kHz, -6dB 47Hz - 20kHz, -10dB Sound Pressure Level: 126dB (Maximum) Nominal Coverage: 75° Axisymetric Amplifier Type: Class-D Amplifier Power: 1000W (Peak) Input Connectors: 2 x XLR/TRS Combo (Line and Mic/Line) 1 x 3.5mm TRS Stereo Output Connector: 1 x XLR (Mix) Controls: Power 2 x Gain Mic Boost Push Switch 6-Way Contour Selection Switch Indicators: Power LED 2 x Input Signal LEDs Input B MIC Selected LED Limiter Active LED Power Supply: 100V - 240V, 50Hz/60Hz Enclosure Material: Polypropylene Grille: 18 Gauge Powder Coated Steel Dimensions: 516mm x 350mm x 323mm / 20.3'' x 13.8'' x 12.7'' (H x W x D) Weight: 13.7kg / 30.3lbs

  13. As per title used briefly on a shortscale Stingray. Cut for 3+1 or 2+2 basses. Lightly used. Price includes UK postage. PayPal please.
  14. Starr Sport, Canvey Island on Saturday evening. Decent night with a good crowd reaction. A few issues during soundcheck with feedback and a resonant node that seemed to appear in the second set that I wasn’t able to resolved whilst playing. Oh well, it didn’t seem to detract from the performance too much. I think we’re going to have to dial in a ‘gain safety net’ for the vocalists, their mics are just way too sensitive and complain they can’t hear themselves during soundcheck then they're too loud during the actual performance. Typical lead singer thing! Second gig with the Anagram pedal and I feel I had the eq dialled in much better this time, punchy and articulate, and the the drives sounded much better. I also set midi control up with BandHelper to save double footswitch pressing to switch presets. I need to spend a little more time with this. PC changes were fine, but CC changes are hit or miss. Next stop, Cow & Telescope in Southend in two weeks time (with a much needed holiday inbetween).
  15. Stripping a cab is the easy part. There's a skill set to be learned in covering with Tolex or similar, especially if there is piping involved. The 'easier' way is to paint with Tuff or DuraTex paint, but any decent finish will eat up any cost benefit from having bought the cab cheaply in the first place. Maybe worthwhile for one's own cab, but doubtful as a financially-viable operation. Unless it's a case of needing a new hobby, of course.
  16. I loved Guy Pratt's story of the punk days, when everyone had adopted names like Rat Scabies, Fester Pustule and so on. People used to assume he had done similarly when he introduced himself.
  17. Bit of a misleading question then, asking us "does such a thing as a decent, lightweight sub-woofer actually exist?". I took "decent" to mean "capable" (not an unreasonable assumption), but it turns out you don't actually need 'capable'. Silly me, eh? I'm impressed that you posted yesterday, then managed to do "a lot of research" and also buy a sub, all in the space of 24 hours. Why bother asking on here in that case? Had you told us you already had a MarkAudio sub', we'd have likely suggested sticking with that (I would). 23kg is hardly a behemoth. I'm 72 and have no trouble schlepping my Fohhn XS22, at 25kg.
  18. That’s a great looking bass
  19. I think it was Captain Sensible (born Ray Burns) who said that he and some of the early punks changed their names to help avoid the DHSS from sniffing around too much as they were still claiming 'the dole'.
  20. I did a session where I took my passibe bass loaded with my finest Fralin J pickups and it went through my Jule Monique pre. It sounded glorious as I put it down. In the final mix it sounded like a bass. Producers do not want the sound in our heads. They want the sound in their heads. That will be a sound they have been listening to for years. Not our fanciest, shiny basses. Also, they will not have time (or sadly, the interest) to audition several different flavours of bass.
