FretsOnFire started following Gear needed for ampless

Wasn't sure in which section to post this but In the times in which I don't have my amp to hand just a bass and a pedal for rehearsals and gigging which one pedal would cover everything I'd need? This might be a silly question but I've been looking at ampless and I'm confusing myself 😂

So the LEDJ 211’S arrived this week and I used them last night when I was “Dad’s Disco” at my youngest daughter’s 30th birthday party (wife’s suggestion, an upstairs hump 😤). Unlike my old iColors, the LEDJ’s use five-pin DMX and you need a minimum 6-channel controller so more expense buying a new controller and three five-pin to three-pin adapters. Anyway, I’m very impressed with the lights, they filled the dance floor beautifully and were bright and colourful. Interestingly, they are almost as heavy as the iColor’s they’ve replaced which I was not expecting, but the level of built-in control more than makes up for this.

I liked a bit of BJH back in the day. Will have a look, Dave.

Proud owner of my all original Mustang from 1973. Bought it from the first owner and sounds the absolute business.

For the most part that has been my experience too. Rowdiness may have been the wrong word and I didn't mean to imply a negative, just a lively audience which may have distracted me from my crib sheet 😀 But there was one gig (as a duo a few years ago) in a local rugby club where it was a nightmare - no separation between us and the dance floor, we both got covered in beer from the constant and energetic dancing with beer glasses in hand, broken glass everywhere, people grabbing microphones (I'd managed to switch mine off at that point) and while there was no actual violence, it wasn't a pleasant atmosphere.

No belt loops.... as my tailor says, why would you need belt loops when the suit is made to fit you perfectly! -
SimonK started following Increase in complete pedal boards for sale
-
I've started noticing an up-tick in people trying to sell already completed pedal boards on eBay. These used to be quite rare, I think because the draw of pedal boards is creating a custom collection of pedals so no one will ever quite like exactly the same things as the next person. I've certainly always swapped pedals in and out one at a time, and occasionally updated the board itself or power supply. So why would anyone buy someone else's complete pedalboard - surely it's better value to buy/sell pedals one at a time? The only thing I can think is maybe something has happened in the digital effects world in the last year or so that I missed, meaning that more people are making the transition to multi-fxs (and yes I know one of the below is a guitar board)?

Was listening to Mockingbird by Barclay James Harvest from the Live Tapes album in the car the other day and thought that was an excellent bassline thru it. Just if you're looking for other suggestions Rob. Didn't see it on your website. Dave

Nicko, what great character -
Up is my TRB1006J. Recently bought a high end 6 and can't justify keeping it. It's been well looked after and had a full service and a brand new barrel jack in June. The previous owner had a ramp installed (very well I might add), there is also dunlop straplocks installed, other than that its all original. I can post but I would prefer not to, I travel quite a bit so Im always happy to try and make a meet up work. Mainly after cash, but try me for trades. Thanks

I’ve had to pause accepting new contributions. I just don’t have the time to review them all properly. But every now and then, something special comes along that’s worth making an exception for. Bill Bruford - Fainting In Coils | Jeff Berlin

I just posted a redraft of the Anthony Jackson/Michel Camilo transcription for 'Piece Of Cake' as I noticed a couple of errors.

Last night's gig report later. For various reasons I haven't played with the blues band for months. Just got a setlist and have to learn several songs before I leave at 2:30 for the gig. Hopefully a couple are straight 12 bars...

Before last night's gig. Guitarist (in jest) "I forgot to tell you were detuning by a semitone tonight" Me "Don't worry, if the bass is off it's everyone else who sounds out of tune"

I had one of those gigs last night with a Tribute band and same thing, some different keys as the singer was also a dep, different arrangements, starts, endings etc. Kept me on my toes trying to guess what and when the breaks would be and how the songs would end. The most uncomfortable was that many of the starts were different to the original records which you only discover when you start playing what you know and it turns out that they don't start like that anymore. Makes starting the next song an anxious moment. 🙂 But overall it was a nice gig.
