  1. Past hour
  2. I have a similar bass (1975) albeit with maple fretboard - yours looks all original to me and in very nice condition. Would be a very good deal at the price you've set in my opinion. Good luck with it!
  3. Thank you
  4. You only need half of those If you got rid of everything fret wise above the octave and every part of a fret on the two treble strings, you could make it a hybrid fretted/fretless and do all the pointless noodling on the bits real bass players don’t use 👍 #joking
  5. Today
  6. The necks on these are very nice
  7. The maximum output of many modern amplifiers is stated at 1% (sometimes 10%) THD (total harmonic distortion). Trace Elliot used a 0.02% level at maximum output. I wonder if this means the TE amps were capable of higher outputs but with increased THD?

  9. Wow! And a fine job you did sir (as indeed did you all) 🙂
  10. Hi all, I have just bought one of the fretless epiphone jack casadys and it is absolutely incredible, my first fretless bass and I have fallen in love! I have decided that I want to use it as my main bass creatively (at least for a little while) and will do some mods to it to make it more fitting to the music I play. I am thinking of adding a bridge pickup but have no idea where to start. I think I know how I would go about installing it but I am unsure what pickups to consider. does anyone have any advice? Also if their are any luthiers based in Suffolk/Cambs/Norfolk/London who would be interested in taking on this sort if project please reach out! Cheers, Harry
  11. Well it was pretty good. Refreshed a few toons for Saturday.
  12. I asked them about that. They said no at the time. It wasn't until Tanja from MIG got involved that it came through to Rough Trade, via Proper. Mind you don't get annexed in Canada.
  13. Welcome Steve.
  14. Hi folks, more stuff from the spares draw. These are very lightweight tuners and the one that Low End Lobster has been fitting to his Sire basses as a drop in replacement. This specific item seems to be particularly hard to find anywhere at the moment. It is brand new and unused. £35 inc. P&P to UK mainland Here are a couple of pics and the link to Lobster's YouTube vid on the subject.
  15. Aww Lee. Love you mate. if anyone buys a bass off Lee (think he has a couple up for sale) I’ll post a brand new set of EB slinkies to the buyer.
  16. Hi folks As part of my ongoing gear clear out I have a Warwick Rockpower NT 1 power supply rated at 9V 200mA. £7.50 inc P&P to UK mainland.

  17. Portable Appliance Test. Hence PAT test is, like PIN number, a misnomer. but everyone says it. Checks electrical equipment that's connected to mains to ensure no-one will get a belt off it ...in theory. The test...Checks the plug earth pin is connected to any exposed metalwork and checks there is no leakage from live or neutral to ground. Venues and health and safety oiks think it makes electrical kit safe to use and that it's lethal otherwise. I have a PAT machine and a roll of stickers and a log book of stuff tested. Easily done, I'm m not convinced it's worth the fuss but easier to do it than convince a health a safety oik that it's a waste of time.
  18. Too long, too boring, enjoy, don’t think I’ll be selling this now
  19. Ok, so this is flat out too long and probably a really boring watch but I just got caught up in the sounds I found. The lower gain stuff I could play for hours. I don’t think I’m going to let this go, still got to see how I feel about the DCX but for what this is worth I think it’s just great to have lay around.
  20. Rehearsal this evening. Bass Terror, mid and bass 12 o'clock, treble about 12:30. Gain about 2 o'clock. Great sound despite strings nearing end of life (Fender nickel plated). All songs but one tones full up, neck full volume, about 30% on bridge. One song went neck only. A bit of slap, lots of fingerstyle, a bit of pick. All sounded good, no trouble cutting through.
  21. Well I have one for sale 😇
  22. I fixed it since by adding another layer, the first layer always retracts a bit. I tried two types of UV resins before and they're both terribly, terribly stinky. Let me know which one you use that's hopefully smell-free I also managed to lose my UV flashlight since... 🙄
  23. I am involved with a lot of teak in the marine world, and looking at that grain, I’d say it’s more likely from the mahogany family. Pictures of the end grain would be helpful - in my experience old slow grown teak tends to have a very tight and regular grain pattern with no great variation in the thickness of the individual growth rings.
  24. Folks on here may be aware of the stellar work of NI builder Golden Era Guitars and his previous SC Relics output. I've owned and played this guitar a couple of years, having tried it when a friend owned it and begged him to give me first refusal should he ever come to sell it. It's unfeasibly good but I have another T-type that just edges it (and cost considerably more), plus I've just made my first foray into the dangerous world of Gardiner Houlgate Guitar Auctions, and have something I need to pay for... Here are the specs, courtesy of the included COA: Built in March 2020 Body Custom Paisley with Ocean Turquoise Metallic Burst Curved Neck Pocket Nitro Finish Lightly Aged with Craze Checking Neck One Piece Maple C Profile 9.5" Radius Aged Tint, Nitro Finish Electronics Radioshop ID Pickups 5-10 Overwind on Neck Paper in Oil 0.047 Tone Cap Treble Bleed CTS 250k TVT Pots CRL 3 Way Switch Hardware Gotoh Weight 7lbs 2.5oz The guitar comes with a nice light aluminium-finish hard case. (I'll add a pic of that once the daylight returns.) Looking for £1,300 - no trades thanks. Although I prefer to avoid courier delivery, I am not averse to a little drive out and meet-up, within reason. In fact I'm always happy to meet another Basschatter! I live in Swindon, Wiltshire. The delightful photos below are from my friend's 2023 listing. You can propbably tell that he's a professional photographer. Obviously his Vox amp is not included. I think the only difference is it might have had Schaller strap lock buttons whereas it currently sports a more traditional set. Currently strung with Elixir Optiweb 10s.
  25. I was fortunate to buy my NXT from a classical player who had this end pin stand as well as the tripod. I can confirm that the NXT works much better on the end pin and does allow you to use arm weight without the bass springing backwards and forwards. The only downside is what to do with the bass when your between sets and whilst I’ve seen some clever clamps that allow you to use the tripod and the end pin stands, they’ve all been from the USA so prohibitively expense (and that was before tariffs).
  26. That's good to know. I've a bunch of wood from an old front door. I'm pretty sure it's mahogany but I was wondering if it might be teak. No particularly noticeable smell when cut.
