  1. Past hour
  2. Thank you. That’s alarming and outrageous by Selectron. Sorry for your loss. Will check out that thread too.
  3. I have the mxr. I think it’s more your touch on this pedal for ain’t nobody than the pedal itself. I think you have to get used to playing the pedal like a musical instrument itself. I just wanted this to get one synth sound though am using this as an octave and a chorus pedal too. I saved the three settings I need on preset one and two, three and four and five and six as I’m using the foot switch to change presets. Just in case I miss one. overall for live use it does the job.
  4. My experience was generally positive until I needed a repair. I owned both the Briefcase 2x5” combo until redundancy forced sale and the Bass Buddy preamp (basically the front end of the Briefcase amp). All was well until the Bass Buddy developed a fault and went off to Selectron, the so called UK service centre. After almost a year and numerous chase ups Selectron decided my Bass Buddy was unrepairable and wanted a ridiculous amount of money to return it to me that I didn’t bother, swearing to never touch another piece of PJB gear. Might also be worth reading the thread “Phil Jones in crisis” posted in the general discussion section by @cetera here before parting with any cash.
  5. Price Drop To £300
  6. Aaaargh! Why don't i ever bump into one of those incredible deals?!?!
  7. Not sure if I'm gatecrashing this thread here but I've recently hauled this oddity out of the Big Pile Of Near-Forgotten Basses: It's a 2004 Aria STB-GT, which would seem to fit the hybrid bill as it's an Aerodyne-ish P shaped body with a Jazz-proportioned maple/blocks neck, plus an MM pickup in the correct position! The original pre was pretty horrid - and constantly drained the battery, so I cleverly converted it to passive with series/parallel switching, only to find it sounded worse. So I sort of gave up - which is a shame as it's a great player and (IMO) looks amazing. However, 10 or so years later it's back on the slab as we speak, having a well-deserved hose-down & about (this afternoon, hopefully) to be fitted with a shiny new Retrovive Stinger P!
  8. In the days before he was flat out with Wal Paul Herman did a great job on a very badly mangled FL Jazz board 👍
  9. Return to gigging for me last night after a medical "holiday". The Rebbels played a new venue, Bluebird Social Club, Longham (just north of Poole and Bournemouth). My partner said it was "a dump" last time she went there, although that was decades ago. There was a vintage carpet on the floor, but it was tidy and the tables and chairs were new and pristine. At 7pm it was empty. I took both my Fender Aerodyne and my Kala U Bass Solid Body as I am recovering slowly from a rotator cuff/shoulder injury and could not even pick the Fender until last Wednesday. However, a good practice session at home was encouraging, and I started playing the Fender. After about 5 songs, it was clear that I would have to switch to the Kala. By this time, the audience had swelled to around 40, although the place still looked empty they were enthusiastic, clapping more than was just polite applause and some line dancers were on the huge dance floor from the start. The audience reaction seemed to energise the singer, who was not only on the top of his game vocally but great in between songs. Despite the audience size, we were paid £25 extra and immediately booked again for the new year. I returned home happy 🤩, but knackered.
  10. A good luthier could probably restore the board, a better solution if possible 👍
  11. Bought this from Bass Chats Petey a few months ago. Lusted after one of these for ages and was delighted to finally get one. It has some brilliant tones in it and wonderfu neck too. It is in excellent condition and looks like new. It is currently sporting Rotosound flats which I fully intended to change until I realised I liked them. It comes with a TGI Extreme padded gig bag which is more than sufficient if you're transporting it by car. It also comes with a long strap too. Unfortunately I can't get on with large body shape of this when playing standing up. Sitting to play is no problem though but I don't want to do that a gig. Pick up or meet up in the Northwest. Don't want so post this as I don't have a hard case for it.
  12. Completely agree.
  13. Apologies, just realised I've hi-jacked this thread. Sorry, I thought I was in the other thread. I'd repost but @stevie's response is very good. Let me see if I can move things around. Rob
  14. Blue Arran has no foam rollers in, I think their statement of "Huge Stocks" on their front page is not quite accurate TBH. I'll pass on the tinting at the moment. I'll never get it right. These rollers are exceptional value on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325770386035. Message understood on sealant If the rain would stop,. I can test making a recess in some scrap wood. Already got the foam. Not sure what you mean here, I'm expecting to glue the front panel in. I was also going to glue the rear panel in, but could use foam gasket as you suggest and screw that in. Is that what you meant? Glue the front panel, but screw the rear panel and use foam gasket. If I do that, I might have to recess a 20mm section on the rear panel as it'll stick out. Its flush fitting and anything would make it stick out. The Fane has two rounds of dense foam on top of the metal ring and underneath the metal ring. You can see the bits missing to allow screw access. Is this the gasket? or should I put adhesive foam between this and the wood baffle? I was going to say I have loads of t-nuts as I use them for aluminium extrusion, but I suspect you mean these rather than these which are also called T-Nuts Same name and different nuts, I'll check in the garage, but easy to get. Well...... I do have a decent crimp tool but I much prefer solder. Back to the bathroom it goes. Thanks for the comprehensive reply. Really helpful Rob
  15. Now see, for £170 I would have ignored everything from my quick review. That's a fab price for what you're getting!
  16. G&L JB2 Tribute in pink. Great sounding pickups with a lot of tonal options avilable. In very good condition. Neck feels slightly fuller in the hand from front to back. Balances very and is very lightweight at 3.9kg. I have used this about 3 times on gigs and have been very happy with how easy and comfortable it is to play. Unfortunately I have once again realised I prefer a precision pickup, so no point in at sat here at home when it could be put to good use. Pick up or meet up in the North West but can post if required.
  17. Been eyeing this up for a while. If i can shift my Rickenbacker any time soon id be all over this. Have a bump on me
  18. Completed sales: In January 2022 we added an auto lock feature to the Marketplace. If you are successful in your sale, simply add 'sold' or ' withdrawn' to the title and the listing will automatically lock. This means other users will see that the item is no longer available. If the sale falls through for any reason and the item becomes available, please contact a mod to have the listing unlocked.
  19. What bass is it? If it's Fenderesque, save yerself a few £££ and take a punt on (more or less) any Chinese seller on eBay.
  20. As ever, your photos are perfectly good. GLWTS!
  21. Today
  22. Sale only at the minute ideally but could pontentially consider trades ideally with cash my way (via pm obviously)
  23. Orangebox EVA-HB Chair - no armrest version
  24. Interesting. Wonder if hes the same guy who imported all those CIJ's back in the mid 2000's, as you rarely see them for sale.. and to have so many?
  25. Like new and purchased in March so still under warranty. Used 6 times and really looked after. Built like a tank and loud. Collection preferred but I will post after receiving cleared funds. Get in touch if you need any more info. Thanks

    BC 8" cab

If you buy white, you should be able to make whatever colour you want with some acrylic colourant. I've done this myself with colourant from Polyvine. I've never tried tinting white - so I've no idea how much you'd need. To get a good textured finish, you'll need the special foam rollers from Blue Aran. They're not the same as the ones you can buy in DIY stores - the foam is much coarser. You can buy them from Ali Express but I haven't seen them anywhere else. If anyone knows another source, that would be useful. If you can recess the input panel, you'll achieve a better seal - and it will also look better - but surface mounting works also. Don't for goodness sakes mess about with sealant. Use adhesive foam strip. 2mm thickness is about right. I'd use screws on the rear panel. Plenty of them. I'm assuming you're gluing the panel in, but do use foam gasket otherwise. Fixing the speaker with T-nuts and bolts (likely M4 or 5) is the preferred method, but woodscrews should work on this size of speaker. If the Fane is already gasketed (which is unusual), you won't need to add any more. If you really need silicone sealant, you haven't built the cab properly. Unless you have a good (i.e. expensive) crimp tool and the correct crimps (there are different specifications), solder the terminals. It's fine. You don't normally need removable panels to access the inside of the cab, as you should be able to gain access through the hole in the baffle for the driver. By all means, make the panels removeable for testing, but once you're happy with the cab, I'd glue them in. Sealant has no place in a speaker cabinet!
  27. Bass Guitar by Bernard Reed, who also played Bass on 'This Will Be' by Natalie Cole from the same album. Great player!! Natalie Cole - This Will Be | Bass Transcription | Bernard Reed
