  1. Past hour
  2. So want to see Chronixx, modern sound, roots heritage ❤️💛💚
  3. Some of the more observant among you might recognise this beauty from the Bass Bros competitions website, from where I was lucky enough to win it a few months ago. Unfortunately I’m expecting my new SP-1 shortly, so I've gotta raise funds and this was kinda surplus to requirements as I already have an NG2 5 and a D-Roc 4. The bass itself was almost as new when I got it. There were a couple of very minor scuffs on the headstock, the writing on the back plate had mostly rubbed off, and at some stage the original owner must have lost one of the battery compartment magnets, and decided to double-down when fixing it. So where there were 2 magnets now there are 4! it plays like a dream and delivers all you would expect from the Darkglass pre. It’s also worth noting that it sounds immense in passive mode too! If it wasn’t for the imminent arrival of the new Dingwall I’d be more than happy to hold onto this. I am based in Belfast and would prefer collection, but happy to box up if you want to arrange a courier at your own expense. Comes with Dingwall soft case with wrench kit. Open to reasonable offers but no swaps please!
  4. A process of elimination is the best port of call… Do you get the buzz with the pedalboard powered up but all pedals bypassed? If so, start removing one pedal at a time from the set up. In theory, eventually you’ll find the one lowering the noise floor of the setup and probably amplifying the hum in your pickups. As we know that no pedalboard means no noise, at some point you’re going to find the culprit. If you get to a funny point where all pedals are out and you’re basically just powering a switcher, then we can look at other options. The pedals are well powered and isolated, but it doesn’t stop two random pedals refusing to play nice together. As a side note, I also had some noise issues using a gig rig generator and isolators on a larger set up in the past. It was always one random pedal being a pest. Report back after the elimination test is done. Would be great to get a proper run down of the signal chain as well if you are still having the issues (also, solderless patch cables? Another thing I’ve found a cause of random noise!).
  5. Are you playing nearby a router or anything WiFi?
  6. Big thanks from me too! It was a great day and I wish I could have stayed just a bit longer. So many cracking basses....
  7. Pick up the pieces - Average White Band
  8. Yes! It was indeed spendid. Thank you Rob for organising again. I regret not taking any pictures though! Does anyone have any pics? Rob
  9. Better Than You - 'tallica
  10. What a great day. Thank you Rob and all who came along. Some lovely basses too.
  11. He hasn't seen me yet, but I've just spotted @VTypeV4 in the wild, and doing a bloody marvellous job of making Spear Of Destiny sound great!
  12. I just heard from Ivan that the Ampeg and GK models don't have a gain control, and you can't push them into distortion. Seems like a bit of an oversight if true
  13. Yes, you run an extension cab via the spare speaker jack. As others advise, try before you buy. MB combos are usually pretty portable, so it won't be too much of an issue to take it with you when auditioning stuff. I wouldn't discount a 1x15 without trying it. Edited to add. The extension cab doesn't have to be Markbass, unless visuals really bother you. Shameless plug coming up. I have a Bergantino 1x12, 8ohm, going spare, which would do the job. PM me if it might be of interest.
  14. We've just done our 10th year doing 1976-1982 British punk covers, and still going strong. I'm the only one not in my 60's though, so it's only a matter of time. I've got the folk rock covers band up and running so there's an option of sitting down a bit.....🤪👍
  15. For sale new sealed 4 string set of Daddario half wounds enr70 long scale 40-95 semi flatwound strings
  16. Is white paint not an option..?
  17. Which MB cab do you have? They're pretty light and compact generally, barring the larger ones - 4x10s and up. If yours is a 1x12, 1x15 or even a 2x10, I wouldn't bother. I'd save the money to put towards something else.
  18. 1st class instrument (and no longer in production). Surely, the Holy Grail of fretless? Someone is going to be one seriously happy bassist when they buy this one. GLWTS
  19. Hi all I'm looking for some advice I would like to wrap 3 x Dingwall pickups in a white colour. The pickups themselves are epoxied into the shells and white covers are not available either as an option or aftermarket upgrade. I am thinking some kind of vinyl wrapping (like they use on car parts) might work. Does anyone have experience of doing something similar? Cheers! Danny
  20. I was so expecting to get on with this amp that I binned the original box. However, all the rest of the bits are here, including the posh little bag, UK mains plug, sticker and manual on a CD-ROM. This bite-sized bass amp has been used precisely twice, for less than an hour in total. I just didn't like the constant fan noise, which apparently is a feature not a fault. Would be fine for playing with other musicians I guess, and everyone seems to love these amps, but my main use case was (quiet) solo home practice and it's too noisy. Don't make the same mistake! Full skinny here: https://peavey.com/product/trace-elliot-elf-ultra-compact-bass-amplifier/ Pick up from Hove or UK postage at cost guess I'll cover the postage, then. Hit me with your vexed questions.
  21. Fender Jazz Bass 4 bolt maple neck (1973A). Quite a succesfull design... 😉 Black binding/blocks. Very old black over walnut finish (probably factory refin as they did in those days to comply with custom orders) white 3ply pick guard. Stackpole potmeters (1973), Fender pickups (1972). This bass has been refretted and a brass nut (a trendy repkacement in the late seventies/early eighties) is restored with a bone one. The bass plays perfectly with action as low as you wanna go. Pickup output is very powerfull. This beautiful thing really is as good as an early seventies Jazz Bass is gonna get and most certainly it won’t lose value either. A nice weight of 4000 grams/8.8LBS of groovy funky jazzy coolness. Looots of Geddy Lee , Chris Squire, Larry Graham and Marcus Miller vibes. Comes with (later) Fender case
  22. I forgot to say that it is a 2x10 cab, 400w type bump
  23. I actually didn't think about this. I have the packaging that my EMGs came in which has dense foam with cut-outs for the pickups but I doubt that I am steady handed enough to cut it to fit in the gap.
  24. Hardly used Markbass 152 SH (Stu Hamm) 2x15 bass cab, complete with padded cover. Just been kept in my studio, so still in mint condition. Just the cab is for sale. Over £1000 new.
  25. Tell that to the members of the LSO... Seriously, if you're playing a couple of dozen three and four chord numbers with no tricky melodic structures or rhythms (which is what you refer to playing), you can wing it once you have the basic form down. Other things can be just a bit more complex.
  26. Try to keep this topic up there, as someone will pick it up and provide a solution.
