What are you listening to right now?
Stub Mandrel replied to Sarah5string's topic in General Discussion
Two sets plus songs for encores/spare I think. I remember learning all of them although it was rare the have more than a badly recorded tape! We used to take turns having the Dire Straits song book. -
Does that mean I'm now getting more valuable then....

Was just looking at the Jeff Berlin version of Crossroads Rob. I used to play the Cream version back in 80's and been asked to do it in a new band. Berlins version has a lot of bits i quite fancy throwing in but obviously not the superfast bits in the solo 😂 Nice to see the comparison against the original tho. Berlin just fascinates me how he takes a standard song and throws in all his fast fills to make it sound even better IMO of course. Dave

In 1986 it was 20 years old the equivalent of, say, a 2006 Fender. It's now 60 years old, that does make a difference.

Is that the actual set list for a gig Neil ? The rockier songs at the start are the ones i would normally finish a set. Some nice songs in there and a few that i wasn't expecting like Psycho Killer Dave -

My band is looking at this for our debut album, so can I please pick your brains on the process as the website is very light on actual production specifications? 1. Since this appears to be essentially print on demand I assume the CD version is CDR rather than glass-mastered. Can you confirm this? 2. Did Elastic Stage offer any advice for the running order and side length for the vinyl version? 3. Can the vinyl version have a different track order to the CD? I see that your CD version has additional tracks on the end but what I'm interested in is having a different running order for the tracks that are common to both formats to make the most of the strengths and weakness of each format. 4. Can I have different artwork for the CD and Vinyl versions? Or are they just scaled versions of each other? I don't want completely different designs but I would like the "small print" to be at an appropriate size for each size of cover. Thanks in advance.

Excellent. Looking good, Mick.

Anyone know a Luthier who refrets Graphite Necks?
Hellzero replied to HeadlessBassist's topic in General Discussion
Nice AI vomit, you should have, at least, erased the last part and read it entirely as there are some typical AI bullshīt in it. Just in case I had my own luthiery workshop... You can't hammer frets in a phenolic (Richlite is not phenolic by the way, AI mismatched it with ebonol) fretboard without splintering the composite and the frets won't sit firmly, they must be glued in with a time consuming special preparation, hence the complexity of the job. I read your stupid AI text, so please stop patronising. -

I'm assuming by now you've sorted the neck dive? I'm to be the proud owner of a Purple Fandango coming sometime toward end of March. Like you I don't want to go the ultrlite way as the headstock is black - I'd do it if just was wood. what are these wheel weights? are they available on Amazon and how many sets did you eventually end up putting in your control cavity? If you have a link to the device I'm sure I can find othem somewhere. BTW great moniker I loved UFO when I was a kid still pretty good today when you YT it 👍

Another sedate tune from Duke Ellington, the wonderful 'Isfahan' from the 1967 album, 'The Far East Suite'. Simple but stunning. You don't need to be Mohini Dey to pull this chart off!! https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/isfahan-duke-ellington/

LOL, if it wasn't for @agedhorse and @Bill Fitzmaurice I'd probably only ever visit the basses for sale forums
-
Does anyone else feel a small sense of relief when Agedhorse doesn't quote you on a thread about amps? As always valuable insights from the expert (although I'm not convinced 2 ohm capable amps are that common albeit I suspect Agedhorse has a few he has designed)!

That's lovely - another triumph for the thread that pretends it is not encouraging the most extravagant and unneccessary purchases! 🙂

That's the one. Here are some better photos of the one I actually owned: IIRC it was sold on to someone in the UK so it should still be around. Fernandes do lots of limited edition models with custom graphics for both the bass and guitar versions of this. You rarely see any of them outside of Japan.

I’m a session bassist with 20 years of experience, currently based in Da Nang, Vietnam. I’ve decided to put my two main workhorses head-to-head to see how they handle different grooves. In this video, I’m comparing: 1. Fender American Elite Jazz Bass (Ultra pickups). 2. Custom Made Music Man 5 HH (with a unique Solid Rosewood Neck). Signal Chain: Both basses were recorded through my Kemper Player using a legendary Avalon U5 profile for that pure studio DI sound. Watch the comparison here: I’ve included on-screen TABS and Notation for both, so you can see exactly what's happening in the pocket. I'm currently working towards my 4,000-hour goal on YouTube, so I’d love to hear your thoughts on which bass sits better in the mix for you. Does the rosewood neck on the MM give it that extra 'snap' you'd expect? Cheers, Igor"

Have you doubled checked that they are actually different bases and not the one on Digimart being offered by various "middlemen".

silverfoxnik started following Stewart's feedback

Just had the pleasure of dealing with @Stewart for the first time, who's kindly sold me a really cool and great sounding Dave Hall preamp. It was the perfect Basschat transaction because Stewart's comms have been great from start to finish, and the preamp arrived in super-quick time and in bullet-proof packaging. All in all, an excellent experience... Suffice to say that you can deal with Stewart in complete confidence, Folks! 👌 And thanks for the preamp Stewart - I know I'm going to enjoy it! 👍😊 Cheers, Nik
