  1. Past hour
  2. Had a solo gig in Leicester which was just hard work. The venue had had some issue with noise complaints so a local came in with a sound monitor thing while I was setting up. Told me I had to be under 90db. I pointed out that even without playing, the busy bar full of people talking was 95db and when I talked to him loudly it shot up to 110db. He set up his device. I ignored it. Then a big group of fairly “refreshed” punters came in and were in total disbelief that I didn’t know some obscure song they insisted upon. They kept trying to play it to me on their phones (like that would make me know it suddenly?) so eventually I told them firmly no, it wasn’t gonna happen. I sensed the atmosphere get quite aggro for a bit and I didn’t take my eye off these guys through the second half. I just played singalong stuff I thought drunk people would like to stand up, dance and shout along to (which turned out to be accurate) and things seemed to get back on track. By the time I’d finished and was packing down everyone seemed to have chilled out a bit (though I did get the classic demand of: “Go on - set the kit back up and I’ll sing it for you blah blah…”) Some other cool punters there who were very appreciative and a decent enough size crowd. Glad to get out and get home tbh. Gear - Mackie SRM350s, Allen and Heath ZedFX10 desk, Shure SM58, Simon and Patrick SP6 guitar with a Seymour Duncan Woody pickup, small effects board (tuner, compressor, EQ pedal). Alas no pics from last night. (Imagine an acoustic guitar and a mic stand and you’re pretty much there).
  3. These are compensated necks so you don't have to move the bridge. They bring the nut the 2" down needed for medium scale 😉 (Although the 14mm tuners required aren't standard for Fender/Squier basses of course!)

  5. And an actual keyboard synth will do the job even better.
  6. I have owned too many high end basses that I can count and 1 of my top 3 was my adamovic fbc solo . I miss it every day and sold it for peanuts but I'm glad I have sold it to a very talented musician Stunning bass Good luck
  7. 🤯OMG! That's up there with an Ibby Thundercat. Is this the most expensive Ibanez bass?
  8. Verrrry nice indeed. Thanks for posting.
  9. Heel access truss rods are actually easy enough to access/adjust without removing the neck if you have the right tool. All of my basses have heel access, and the tool to adjust cost less than £15. I guess it’s a bit of a pain in the arse that you have to take the scratchplate off, but I’m not too fussed about that personally.
  10. Today
  11. @Downunderwonder I had exactly the same thought overnight. I can't see how just picking it up by the chainbar would do any serious harm. Certainly you could cut yourself because you are grabbing the sharp bits and it would be a good effort given where the center of balance is on a chainsaw. More than likely he picked up the thing he was cutting and moved it without paying enough attention to what he was doing.
  12. The Torture Never Stops - Frank Zappa
  13. Nice bass, just treat it better than Paul Simonon did his. Personally, I think it needs a tort pick guard.
  14. One thing that puts me off the Vintera range was the lack of easy access to the truss rod. If I had a real desire for a vintage style instrument at that price I would have to accept it but, I don't.
  15. chorus or flanger effects were very popular in the 1980's also roundwound strings
  16. I love Ibbys (I have a bunch and 2 more incoming) and that one is pretty, but it's not $8k pretty.
  17. Pump and Squeeze Me - Wrong Direction
  18. (Get A) Grip (On Yourself) - The Stranglers
  19. I also have an early copy of Led Zep II that is of interest to record collectors. It's got a purple lower label, contains different song names and the sleeve artwork is lighter. I'm not really up on it but a couple of friends have made noises and faces at it over the years.
  20. I reckon "There are no marks of using" is gonna sting the craftsman who reliced this beast! GLWTS
  21. I have The Police Sixpack coloured vinyl with incorrect labels on some of them. They're just jumbled up. It never really bothered me as a kid as I never played them as I had the songs on the albums and the original singles. The six pack was always treasured.
  22. I would argue this is one of the best mid sized pedalboards available. Basically a pedaltrain 2 but not as deep. Wheels in the lid with a suitcase style make moving this around a dream. https://www.boss.info/global/products/bcb-1000/ Dual lock will easily come off, I spent 3 days cleaning this of the old velcro and have been unable to commit to it since.
  23. I used this as a very high end practice amp. I would run a bluetooth adaptor into the Aux in and it just sounds great. The mojo control is very unique sounding and can add a huge phatness to your tone. Works great as a DI, headphone amp, IEM mixer, 1/4 in or XLR out of a nice tube DI For more information https://www.cranborne-audio.com/camdenec1
