Choose a 5 string bass for £500 (ish)
Cornwall Steve replied to Cornwall Steve's topic in Bass Guitars
As a retired pilot I'd never recommended playing on any aircraft runways 😳, but Yep there's something for everyone. Just a shame we have to kiss (or ought I say 'play') a few frogs along the way 😂 -

Yep, she's a bit of a legend isn't she. Mind you she's had her pick of smaller scale basses with quite a few manufacturers falling over themselves trying to get in on the scene. And despite the obvious parental and sponsorship grooming, the young lass certainly has the talent and charisma to charm. Wonder what she'll be up to 10 years from now. Still playing I hope.... -

For sale: Source audio dual expression pedal. £70 plus postage Description (from Website) The Source Audio Dual Expression Pedal delivers precision response and smooth action in a durable cast aluminum housing. The Range Adjust Knob sets the bottom point of the expression range. Plus, a special Sensor Output connects directly to any Hand®, Soundblox®, Soundblox 2, or Soundblox Pro pedal for real-time control over filter sweeps, effect modulation, LFO speeds, wet/dry mixes, drive levels and more. Great condition. Barely used, boxed with leads. Postage will probably be about £10?

I'll do me best. Failing that, for the right bass, I'll stick in some EMG or Aguilars or whatever else takes me fancy come the time. -
It is adjustable via the standard MIDI CC for portamento though.

has anyone had any experience with these? I recently got a harley benton one https://www.thomann.co.uk/harley_benton_amp_iso_2.htm I'm really amazed at the thing! on a hollow wooden stage it made a huge difference in sound and tone

Scarily easy as I've just figured out! Another nail in the coffin for aspiring originals artists hoping to "make it", just as streaming has already proved to be? I suspect that where the industry is heading could well be similar to where classical music has ended up with performers, in our case covers and tribute bands, being custodians of a vast library of music that is already much loved; with occasional new material to sit alongside the great songwriters and composers of the past: read ABBA to Zeppelin for Bach to Stravinsky. The Times They Are A-Changin'...

Incidentally, I found this video: which says in the description "M-VAVE ANN BLACK BOX is same as the original BLACK BOX, they just emphasized the ANN Training capability of their device."

I had a problem with the Boss working in my acoustic and the workaround was to use a TRS-TS connector. So I got a right angled one and as that also ‘worked’ on my other instruments I could use it when I felt it was sticking out a bit too much… There were also some jacks it didn’t like and it wouldn’t operate the power so I kept an assortment of washers that went over the Boss jack and made sure the power was activated. All stored in an old glasses case…

Sorry I probably wasn’t clear enough. I meant dismantle the XLR plug that is stuck in your PA amp module. Undo the screw on cable gland on the plug, withdraw the innards from the XLR plug and then reach inside the housing of the plug that will still be stuck in your PA amp module to release the latch with a small flat head screw driver.

Tone Hammer 210 combo.... Looks nice. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
Musicman20 replied to spyder's topic in Amps and Cabs
I do think Aguilar lost a lot of what made them great when Korg acquired them. They've barely done anything to move forwards, expect increase their prices significantly. I still think their Tonehammer Pre and DB cabinets are absolutely fantastic, but by now I'd have expected them to move on with brand new ranges. Now that I see the criticism of this combo, I can see why people are surprised at the design of it. They would have been better to make a combo like TC/Genz did with either a cradle or a separate 'shelf' on top of the cabinet (that is totally covered), and kept it at 500W. At the price this combo will be, I'd expect an exceptional 2x10 that can handle most of what a mid level amp can throw at it (say 400+ w). In the UK, I'd probably go for Ashdown now with their UK manufactured combos/amps. -

The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm

Absolutely not unreasonable. Some people like to have an idea in their head that is probably more suited to recording than playing live. In my 80s band we have a sax player who also plays keys. Even if he didn't play keys I'd want more sax all the time!!! You don't see many bands of our ilk with a sax player, and when the sax player is good you should make them the star of the show IMO.

I’ve been doing some gear restraint(abstinence)//basschat challenge here and I’m really happy with how this setup’s turned out. My in-ear monitors translate exactly what I dialled in at home, and the FOH guys have liked what they’re hearing so far.

Well I have my ideas, will wait to see what's revealed! But I'd have thought now is the time to do said reveal, what with the publicity/interest associated with NAMM.
