The neck pickup being that close to the fretboard would be a bit muddy. Better to have the additional pickup near the bridge to approximate jazz spacing. Imo obviously

I thought these were all sold, or was that the carbon fibre ones? How's the neck dive if its so light? ...asking for a friend... -
HeadlessBassist started following Sterling ray 34 history
-
I had one of the early Ray34 models back around 2009(?) It was pretty good all in all, but the early pickups only did a 'fair' impression of the MM sound. I sold it on quite quickly when I got a proper natural SR4 with the Piezo bridge, and later a Stingray 5 from Nick Smith. I must say, some of the current ones around £12-1400 look lovely, particularly in the Spalted Maple Blood Orange Burst finish. Haven't tried one in a long time, though.

Gretsch G5442BDC Electromatic Hollow Body Short Scale Bass
Pinball posted a topic in Basses For Sale
Impending retirement means that I need to de-clutter, beginning with some of my beloved basses. A Beautiful bass bought from here in 24, with a great sound, which I am just not using much. It is the real deal with gorgeous looks and construction in my honest opinion. Someone out there will love it. It is also loud enough to practice with without an amp IMHO! Happy to post as it comes with a generic hard case that fits archtop basses "The Gretsch G5442BDC Electromatic Hollow Body Short Scale bass guitar has a comfortably short scale at 30.25", and is armed with two powerful "Black Top" Filter'Tron™ bass pickups, giving it an electrifying deep-end voice and identity. The double-cutaway hollow and bound body offers full bass tone and balance, and is finished in Transparent Red." Note: I have been asked about neck dive, just in case you are worried about that this is my answer. "I can't say that it has bothered me,. Being an true hollow body/archtop It is very light and hangs horizontally, but it feels normal to rest my right arm on the body, which pushes the neck upwards to a comfortable, natural playing position. It also feels good sitting down. I imagine that the longer scale Gretsch hollows may have serious neck dive". G5442BDC Spec sheet.pdf-

Hipshot BT3 Bass Xtender / drop tuner. The BT3 is for pre-cbs vintage style / reverse wind style basses. I had it on my Fender Roadworn Precision which was sold some time ago so it was removed and put away. Here’s the bumpf from Hipshot. https://hipshotproducts.com/products/bt3-bass-xtender Price includes UK postage, comes with installation instructions and in original packaging, and includes a ferrule and screws. Cheers!

Yeah I wish more companies got onto it. I tried doing it myself with sparkle rattle cans, and then tried again with glitter and clear coat, but both times were a bit of a disaster!

It is quite a wonderful album and mixed by Errol Thompson, I remember reading about it a long time back and it was mentioned that he was experimenting with various sounds to add into the recordings, it’s not until you listen closely you can hear a doorbell at the end of the track chapter 3, there’s also ringing telephones and water sounds, and yes the basslines are superb, from memory another album I’ve still got which I bought from around the time is Fat Man Ridim Section – Bald Head Justice which is Robbie again and Errol Thompson, similar bass tone I think , I actually bought the album not knowing much about it at the time and was totally blown away with the basslines, I was just starting out on bass and learning them on the old cassette tape 😁, another album I must dig out one day

HeadlessBassist started following Bass Bash in or near Lincolnshire?

If it was Lincoln or Newark, I'd bring a pile of gear along. I'm half way between Nottingham and Derby.

Sounds awesome as ever. I’m loving my Anagram, so much better than the QC, just need a bit of time with all the other pedals to see if it will replace absolutely everything.

Hi All, Genuine rare US-made Musicman Sub for sale. 4 string, passive. Comes with a soft gig bag with assorted spare strings and a strap. Selling because I no longer use it. Good bits: Good usable condition Fantastic tone Recent strings Intonation good It does NOT have the original plastic pickguard with the metallic pattern on it - I hated this and replaced it with a far nicer looking item. There is a chip on the main body near the volume pots as you can see in the photos. There are a few marks on the back of the neck too. Neither of these have any impact on the feel and sound of the instrument - it's a gorgeous piece of kit and comes from a relatively small run of 'Sport Utility Basses' (hence SUB) apparently Musicman lost money on these and didn't make them for long. Would prefer to meet up rather than post 'cos it's heavy! Looking for £650 ono. Reduced - £595

binky_bass started following Ibanez LACS. Anyone got any hands on experience with one?
-
Has anyone owned an Ibanez LACS? As I understand, the LA Custom Shop only build artist used guitars/basses and occasionally prototypes. You cannot order a LACS nor can you buy one directly outside of certain special build runs that are incredibly infrequent. Curious to know if anyone ever owned one/played one etc?

Just in case anyone needs to source a Sire neck
bass_dinger replied to rainbowreality's topic in Repairs and Technical
It's at times like this, that basschat needs a "wow" response icon. That is almost a nominal fee, or £25 for administration and the neck is free. "Thanks for buying a Sire. We are committed to providing you with ongoing support for your instrument."
