Help with buzz from Tonerider pickup on Ibanez SRMD200 bass
Brim Taika replied to Brim Taika's topic in Bass Guitars
You're absolutely right, @crazycloud, thanks for the reply. Just wasn't expecting it to be this loud. I've reached out to my custom shop about double-checking the grounding and possibly shielding the cavity. -
There is the other side of the coin though... A few years ago I was in a funk-metal band (!), and the guitarist was what you would call an ordinary geezer. Great player, but liked to make risqué jokes about "birds". Nothing to off-colour, or Bernard Manning but some might find it a touch offensive. Which our drummer did... However, he was considerably more right-on than yow, had virtually zero sense of humour and took offence at absolutely anything, especially if he thought there might be some sort of imagined slight against the Welsh. And he'd constantly have a go at guitarman as well as telling us both what we should be thinking. Eventually Mr Guitar left, and that was the end of the band. Which was a shame as he was good to play with , but drummerboy had a poor sense of timing and kept doing overblown and out-of-place fills that he insisted were from "The Rudiments" but always ended at least a beat late and usually much more...

I agree. To be clear, I was referring to everything online, not just social media. It stands to reason that if someone only watches GB News or only reads the Guardian, they are getting that one perspective. Whilst I am sure that most intelligent people get their information from a range of sources, there are plenty that only get fed stuff from Facebook or the Daily Mail.

Democracy does appear to be in its death throes. For much of history there were basically two political parties in most democratic nations. As a gross simplification one party supported the needs of the working majority and sought to level the playing field and re-allocate resources. The other was motivated by the concept of deregulation, free trade and represented the interests of the owners of production. The sorry state of politics now is largely down to these peripheral ideological differences that do nothing to address the problems that most of us are experiencing. Wake up people you’re being manipulated and your pockets are being picked. The circumstances that are conspiring against you are not caused by anyones gender, religion, passport or sexuality and likewise focusing on these things will not pay for your groceries or pay your rent.

It's a single coil J pickup - it will likely hum. -

Having just put together a Hoppus Jazz/Precision thing, I'd have taken the opportunity to reverse the pickup. Nudging the D&G element towards the neck definitely helps things tonally.

Hi All I also got one from Guitar Guitar this week, I've only had a few hours to play with it. Initial impression is that the Amps and Speakers are nicer that those on the Stomp. I have a quick question for the collective. The input meter on the left doesn't go above half way even if I play hard, do others see the same or does this mean that my bass is quiet? I put a boost in front and that pushes it up fine. I wouldn't care but it feels like I'm not getting the full range of drive from the distortions, I don't want to put a volume block in as it uses up a slot. Jury is still out on the other effects but the octaves are nice. I would also like a bit more from MIDI, on the stomp I use the snapshot as a reset so I have a button on my midi controller that always takes any patch back to its start point. The Anagram scenes don't reload so this doesn't work, a nice solution would be a reload patch option which works if you sent a PC message but this would require programming a reset for each patch. I really like having the dedicated reset option. The other thing that would be nice is the option to move blocks to the top row, say 18 top 6 bottom, I like to run a clean octave in parallel but this uses 12 block for the one effect. Let me know what you guys see on the input though, Cheers Steve

And for that I am grateful. It is a word that should only exist in the dictionaries of mad audiophiles.

It's a nice sentiment that social media makes people sound more extreme, but I made the mistake of listening to a LBC radio phone in yesterday while driving... breathtaking both the views of the presenter and the people who called in. If anyone needs an argument against democracy a radio phone in provides it.

I'll also post my other project when that's done. I'm building what I hope is a superior version of the darkray with mostly real musicman parts but that one has a graphite neck as well. It seems to be incredibly difficult to do pots with light up led rings around them? Never would have guessed that would be the stumbling point so far
