Just got myself this little beauty today. Had been looking for a 7-pounder (or under) and this came up at exactly 7lbs. Although it’s heavier than my Superlight TT I’m finding that playing full scale basses standing up is becoming a bit of a stretch hence my search. Got it from Guitar Village, my first time of dealing with them which I have to say was excellent. Sounds and plays beautifully, as I’d expect. I’m not really into fake relicing or blocks but somehow these just seem to really suit this bass.

We had a similar issue once, and it turned out the venue staff just didn’t fully get what we needed. Took a direct chat with the manager to sort it.

The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm

I got the same call - was just about to post here about it. Wasn't expecting that, I ordered it last night with the only delivery option being next day (which I assumed would be Tuesday). I'm not in any rush.

Hi Rog, I had, for some years, a fretless USA Sub. I bought it off here, as I recall. But it was a conversion. Perhaps it was this one that you saw? I have no recollection of seeing a factory fretless from this series, but others may have more info. Cheers Crispin

There's a lefty version too, and I've contemplated getting it but they only offer it in black I would get the shell pink version in a heartbeat if they announced a lefty. They're rather lovely, and the current (second) iteration had a nice hardware upgrade, now sports a pickup selector (the first version only had volume and tone, and both pickups were fully on at all times) and a bound roasted maple neck that looks lush. -

Hi, Just a quick question, does anyone recall if the Musicman USA sub bass was ever available as a fretless, I have a vague feeling I have seen one for sale many years ago but that might have been a conversion? I have both the active and passive fretted versions, I absolutely love them, they are my favourite MM basses and would like to add a fretless if they were ever available! Cheers Rog

I was caught by my girlfriend while practicing these moves with my headless bass, and was met with a sarcastic "What are you going to do with that short little thing?" Of course the last thing I want is to be made fun of because of the size of my instrument, so I immediately took out my extra longscale headed bass. But then it struck me I can't have people thinking I have something to compensate for... So instead I have just ordered a Kala U-bass. Stay tuned.

Thanks. I absolutely hate finger screech. I don't have the patience or inclination to wear in new zingy rounds anymore. I've put my Fender 9050L flats back on. Whilst doing so, I briefly had 2 of each string on, and made a comparison video to remind myself of the horrific nails on a chalkboard screeching of rounds. I've no idea how people can play stainless steel rounds, as even for Nickel plated steel, I can't get used to the feel of the XTs under the fingers. I'm guessing it's just hard to go back when you've tried and enjoyed the feel of flats. Maybe I'll still try the likes of Elixir Nanowebs & DR Sunbeams someday, but for now I'm more likely to stick with my Fender flats for a while as they are settling in well, and at some point try out other flats. I am liking the 'flats with a pick' thing, smooth feel and lack of squeaking, so maybe flats are my thing after all.

Not funny as such but I thought this was a good place for it….

I have pouches (think they’re neotech) on my straps which were originally intended to hold the packs from my Line6 G30 - and they still do - but now also work for ‘bug’ style systems by just extending the transmitter with a patch. I’ve got some that I made with inline sockets and also just some inline jack-to-jack connectors which are arguably just as good if not better. All you see is the patch coming out of the pouch on the strap - can be any system you like in there.
