IME it is always easier to hear myself if at least one of the speakers is pointing at my ears rather than my knees or my groin. That means either mounting the combo on a tilt-back stand or putting at least one other cab underneath it. Both of those things place top mounted controls (for me at least) in a position that is both difficult to see and reach. The original reasoning behind top-mounted controls is that the amps would be placed on the floor in front of the musicians. Not only were the controls on top but labels were orientated so that they read the right way up when viewed from the back. Since this placement hasn't been regularly used since the early 50s it makes little sense to continue building amps this way.

The mute kit is on it's way from Bass Direct as we speak...

As so often happens with high-profile people perceived by the wider public as hedonists, effectively Ozzy became a stuntman for excess and intoxication. I think a lot of the shock about his passing is based on the common assumption that, despite his obvious frailty, he was more robust than ordinary mortal men. By the time of his death Ozzy and Sabbath were household names and fully embraced by the mainstream media, but I remember when Ozzy and Sabbath were a cult band and hardly ever featured on TV ect in Britain. That was the real Black Sabbath and the source of their legend. In an age where rock stars could get away with behaving badly, Sabbath were a bit more dangerous than most, albeit that they were mostly dangerous to themselves. Never mind The Osbournes, I wish someone had made a reality show about Ozzy's life back in those days. It would've been the most interesting documentary ever.

Be nice to find a set of the correct knurled bolts too so the mutes are easily adjustable mid-gig.

This is a sad one. Just like with Lemmy, I knew it would happen soon but still kind of didn't expect it. Ozzy and Sabbath meant so much to heavy metal. Without them, the music i love wouldn't exist. They must be one of the most influential bands of all time. Today I'll be listening to a lot of Black Sabbath. Starting with my favourite song, Supernaut

I've been working on a pedalboard for the last ten years on and off that allows me to play two synth lines simultaneously, one manual and one arpeggiated off the first note in each bar sampled by a modified EHX Freeze pedal. The idea was mostly inspired by this Freemasons track: This is what synthbass is all about for me. Bombastic, pumping and jubilant. When I had the EHX into the Moment Machine and then arpeggiated into the C4 AND a manual line through the FI, I wore the biggest shit eating grin in decades. It worked so long as I could time the sampling to grab the right note, otherwise I wouldn't have been persisting for quite so long. A single pedal that could achieve all that with tap tempo (ideally without needing to press a button to sample every bar) would be a god send.

Yes, we both believe being helpful supporting products (and especially when problems arise) is a big part of running a business. It’s part of our culture.

Basically, he won at life and completed the game - the gig the other week was the big boss fight and he won. I'm noting that there's no mention anywhere of his cause of death - would be entirely unsurprised to find out he went to Dignitas or something. He did everything he wanted to do and went out with a blast.

OK so I have a PJ Mertro Express as a backup for my 24 fret Metroline. It’s been great for the past year or so then this weekend it “semi” died on me. The bass works fine in passive mode. In Active you get no sound with the bass and treble at 0 if you boost treble it works but it’s noisy. If you. Boost bass again 0 no output. Any ideas before I bite the bullet and replace it ?

Thanks! I was stepping on a narrow path, but I think I managed to pull that off. Wanted to try a matching pickguard and headstock thing for years now. I need to find a cool Squier decal or sticker to put on the headstock, though. I'm not ashamed of it being a Squier. Don't let it stop you. You can always do racing stripes with a wrap foil. I ordered a furniture decoration from a company that had great reviews on "resilience" and happened to have a perfect pattern on hand. Just asked them to scale it down for me and they did it an no extra charge. Here's a mockup I did in MS Paint before ordering (and deciding I will do the headstock, too) - as you can see the result is very close.

Updated pics to show: *Swapped the castors/wheels to slightly bigger but much better quality set. Easier to move without trolley. * Resprayed spk ‘mount’ face (from white to black) using high quality/tough product as the white paint was flaking a bit. This has improved the look and protection. Loaned recently a fellow bass player (who was in a spot) and he raved about the quality of this combo. Actually said it had ‘better’ tonal options than his beloved Mark bass separates🤫🤐🤷🏾♂️😎 Shamelessly bumped for more views… -
Yes, your eyes aren't deceiving you! I noticed that too - the mute springs appear to have been put on back to front. One of the first jobs I'll be sorting, as well as the new black scratch guard which has now arrived.

For sale is my TC Electronic GMajor-2 multi effects unit in fully working condition and updated to the latest firmware. Pictures show it in its usual rack home (rack not included). Although most of the standard effects are aimed at the guitarist I have found the compressor, gate, flanger, phaser and octaver (up and down) etc. to be very useable for bass. I can either factory reset before shipping or leave the presets I have created intalled. It has built in EQ, noise gate, compressor, reverbs, delays, wahs, octaver, tremolo, phaser, flanger etc each of which can be switched in / out from the front panel as required. I have been using this via my amps effects loop and found the compressor (and all the effects) just add their effect without changing the fundamental sound of the bass. Comes with original box and operating manual. You can use the unit in your DAW as well as with your bass / guitar etc. Patches can be easily selected from the front panel or attach a midi-pedal (I used a MidiMoose). There is also some Vyzor software you can download from the net which allows you to interface your PC with the GMajor-2 to edit and backup your user patches. I have also attached the GMajor-2 and Vyzor manuals below. tc_electronic_g-major_2_manual_english.pdfVyzor_G-Major2_Quick-Start.pdf I estimate UK shipping about £10 to £15.

1 rack unit is gone so the only one left is the lower one in the photos. For sale is my used but not abused EMS 500 19" rack case. The rack is currently assembled as 6U but can be reconfigured as 3U, 6U simply by removing some bolts and panels - 10 min job! You can also configure it so the top removes for mixers. The rack is currently assembled to a board with castors which isn't included in the sale and will be removed before shipping.........unless you really, really want it and then it would be an extra £20 and whatever the increased postage is. These are quite special cases as they are modular construction where you can increase or decrease the number of rack spaces by easily adding or removing side and end panels. All you need is an allen key! You can also use them with a mixer installed in the top and the top panel can be easily removed! See the photo of how I had the units set up for my band PA. (None of the rack equipment is included.) All catches etc are in good condition. Rack to rack depth is 48cm. Weight per 6U assembly is 18lbs / 8.2kg. See the attached brochure for more details. The 6U Gator version of this case weighs 13lbs so slightly lighter but is NOT as rigid, road resilient or has the flexiblity options. As these are modular I would propose they are dismantled and flat packed for shipping to reduce the cost. I'll give details on how to re-assemble if you need but its quite straight forward. I've estimated UK postage to be £15 per unit. 6U Rack Unit 2 - the lower 6U rack unit in the photos on its own - £90 / Board with castors - £20 / Both together £100. Shipping Extra EMS.pdf
