Hi Dave, The Electric Bass Guitar is a support instrument. Sure, you can take a solo but I don't think that was what it's original purpose was. Daryl

I play fingerstyle but i'm not snobby about it and enjoy good bassists no matter how they do it. If its good, its good. Simple as that. I started with a pick for first few yrs then got into Jazz rock and changed to fingerstyle but i was caught between both styles and chopped and changed depending on what i was listening to. I liked Jazz rock but was mainly playing classic rock or prog. Eventually i settled on fingerstyle and just found it easier. I can play using my index finger as a pick but struggle with an actual pick and end up getting cramp after a few songs. Dave

I'm with you on that. Most people don't want to witness a complicated bass solo unless they are extreme bassists themselves. I personally don't want to hear a bass solo at a gig unless its RUSH of course. Dave

Richter MX2 - Active Balance Control

Richter MX2 - Active Balance Control. Used but in full working condition. 10mm shaft - For full specification click here. Can be used to balance 2 magnetic pickups, or mix a piezo signal with a magnetic pickup. Comes with the battery connector, which as you'll see from the picture was been cut short (previously connected to a battery box), so the wires will need extending/connecting to a battery clip. I'll throw in a battery clip for free if you need one, just ask. £60 including UK delivery - please contact me for other locations. Payment via bank transfer (preferred) or PayPal. I also have a Hipshot piezo 5 string bridge for sale (click here).. happy to do a deal on the pair 😉

They are all just freakishly good. I saw them live fairly recently and was not disappointed. I played that first album to death when it was released. Still have the vinyl today. -
Just got in from a gig and turned on the TV for Glastonbury and greeted with an act called ANOHNi and The Johnson’s, WTF was I watching and listening to, I just don’t get it, music just sometimes goes in some strange directions.

Sounds like a good plan to me. My reference to epoxy cracking was it terms of a layer of filler rather than an epoxy glue that you are proposing with veneer. My only concern with your method is how well the edge of the veneer/epoxy will feather back to the original finish, before you apply your new finish. But, if you intend using automotive style poly rattle cans, Halfords fine filler spray might be enough to mask the join.

I think the app choice depends on your choice of control device. I use the Behringer X-Air Edit app on a Microsoft Surface Go, but I have X-Air Edit on Mac, and the iPad app as back up. I’ve tried Mixing Station and I can’t get away with either the ‘skin’ or the complexity of the app. The workflow is pretty much the same as any other analogue mixer, but without the massive amounts of outboard you need in the analogue world.

A cautionary tale regarding Royal Mail
Sparky Mark replied to MrDinsdale's topic in General Discussion
Previously, I think RM wasn't allowed to leave items on doorsteps and had to leave a card so you could arrange another delivery attempt or collection from a local RM depot. It now seems that due to cost cutting initiatives and the employment of casual staff, RM really don't offer any better service than the other couriers and just leave packages wherever it fancies. I've recently received a RM proof of delivery photograph showing my package wedged in an unknown letter box. It's a real shame that RM seems to have joined the courier race to the bottom. -
Ok, I thought with the combination of playing a Telecaster body style bass and usind a pick I could trick people into thinking I was some sort of groovy guitarist. Lol Daryl

Did a test this evening. A local sparky lives adjacent to where the stage is going to be set up. He's provided us with a feed with minimal volts drop <5% when tested with a 6kVA load on the end (2 kettles!) Just need to keep everything dry if it rains on the night.

I've just got in after Gary Numan's warmup show in Frome. That was a spectacular show. He's definitely more industrial rock than synth pop these days. Great night.
