  1. Past hour
  2. Thanks again — I'll get a set ordered.
  3. Regarding boutique P basses, I think the law of diminishing returns is particularly pertinent. Most bang for your buck is to be had at around the USA Fender price point, in my opinion. That is not to say that less expensive versions are not worthwhile. A £5000 Olinto ,on the other hand, might be somebody's forever bass, I'm not putting it down, but despite never having played one myself I would wager that it sounds and feels like...a P Bass. Probably a very good one but essentially still a P Bass. As I've previously mentioned in other threads, there's a certain point with vintage and boutique traditional Fender-style basses where what your paying for is magic realism, not anything tangible or actually necessary in a practical sense.
  4. I have one from the early 90's. I am quite a light guitarist and do not actually play much acoustic. So it lasted very well. Then one of my son's friends picked it up when they were rehearsing here. The finish got battered pretty quickly. I feel your pain.
  5. I've pretty much no experience with valve amps, but I think they'd often quote rated power at 10% (or sometimes, I think I've heard, 3%) the reason being that their THD is in excess of 0.1% even when they're not clipping. In the context of valve amps, the power rating has even less bearing on the actual volume - as the mighty AC30 attests!
  6. Yeah, I don’t know how many there are… but not many!
  7. I cut them as I don’t like too much wrap on the posts. This is what my headstock looks like…
  8. I don't tell which brand I use, but I recommend you to do some trials with the B. The best sounding gauge has been .120, and I have tried many. Find your favourite, that works with the bass and your fingers.
  9. If there is an eq, you can do it, if not, buy one. I do not know any eq box from modern tce. They had a 2 band parametric pedal back in the 80's, and a 4 band rack unit named as 1140/1144/2240 (HS).
  10. Gator bag for small keyboards, controllers, multi-FX, pedalboards or just tonnes of 'stuff' for gigs. I think it's the GK2110. Inside dimensions (L x W x H): 57 x 29 x 10 cm Outside dimensions (L x W x H): 59 x 33 x 11 cm According to Thomann It's been my 'Everything I could possibly need and lots of things I will never *ever* need but they're good to have as spares' bag for years, you can cram a mind-boggling amount of things in there. It's done somewhere in the region of eleventy billion gigs, so it's very well used and a bit tatty in places naturally relic'd which adds tonnes of mojo. It's structurally sound, decent padding, no holes, zips work well... years of life left in it. Front pocket for even more (slightly smaller) crap that you won't need but you're going to take anyway because you're a bit OCD. Great for butter, plays like metal, will only increase in value etc etc Would consider trade for a Wal (with cash my way) The picture is upside down, but the bag is the right way up in real life. £17 posted or a tenner collected from Bewdley DY12

      • Haha
  11. Thanks, that is very reassuring. Do you remember whether you cut them, or were able to use them full length?
  12. might suit other amps £1.99 each on gear4music search for "Eden COVR"
  13. Today
  14. this week on NZ Trade Me Pedulla MVP Tobias Classic V Alembic Mark King 1966, and 2x1972 Fender Jazz Stingray , Rickenbacker, Warwick options
  15. Me too, it's rubbish.
  16. Not great where I live (Hants), but I don't expect it to be. Specialised items tend to be thin on the ground away from major centres of population, unsurprisingly. Say, for example, that one in ten thousand people play the bass and so will have the occasional instrument to sell. In the Greater London area, with approx 10 million inhabitants, there are likely to be a few hundred to choose from at any one time. Move to where I live and you'll find a couple of dozen at best. Better players (excluding the rich and famous who have bought a mansion in the country) tend to live in major population centres because that's where most gigs are. Unless you want a used Squier, there ain't likely to be a lot to choose from.
  17. 😳 Mark
  18. Space - that's a nice idea. Wish I had some.
  19. on the NZ Auction site this week there is a Gibson era "Classic" which is the neck through model it's a 5'er and I'm thinking about it , if I could try before buy would be helpful
  20. Like the other replies, in my last band, the guitarist would bring an idea or riff, quite often a full song, we'd jam it out, see what worked where and added what we could. If it sounded good, we would keep on developing until we were all happy, and a finished song would emerge. If someone didn't think the idea had legs, it'd get shelved or adapted/morphed into something else. If someone came up with an idea for a riff or lyric or something, again, it'd get worked on until it became a song or it was decided that it didn't have legs. It's a shame the singer started taking over, especially with the lyrics. But that's another story.
  21. USB to usb c, into the dodgy eBay adapter, into a lightning to usb c adapter then a lightning to usb c adapter if I then power the dodgy eBay adapter with a lightning charger, the iPad seems to recognise it but it’s doesn’t charge it. i suspect the cable set up is wrong so a link to what I need to buy would be massively appreciated 😊
  22. That's a great looking bass. I love my custom Overwater - probably the best bass I've ever owned. If I wasn't trying to slim down my bass collection, I'd be all over this. Good luck with sale.
  23. I’ve ordered an XS-1, despite my gut telling me to go for the 100. Features wise, the 100 is simply the better pedal, and the point above about the 1 + expression being pretty much the same real estate is valid. However, that last point is mitigated as I use a 4-way expression pedal splitter (so one expression for 4 pedals). Given that I expect to be using this predominantly in a single way, and am pretty used to live knob twiddling, I think I can get away with the 1. If I’m wrong, but it performs as I hope, then I’ll upgrade to the 100 in time.
  24. You shouldn't need a driver, you just have to connect to the iPad by USB and then core audio should see it. I don't know about cubasis but I assume it should see it if it is available. What sort of interface are you using?
  25. Have fun with this thread guys I'm out 🤭
