Playing with Rings on ....

So as recently married person i've been struggling a bit to adjust to playing with my wedding ring on ...  in fairness it's a pretty chunky affair stylistically ( no fancy gemstones ) just Big ole silver with engraving. 
Most of my bandmates are married too , The answer from both girls was ... move the ring to your pick hand ....  which i've been doing , but for gigs i'd be terrified it would fling off , my solution so far has been an eggcup on my desk I'd lose my head if it wasnt attached

So asking the wider community ... who plays with rings ... left right , wedding fashion ... should i just try to adjust ? Am i being foolish  ?

Only been married about 9 months myself, and prior to that I'd not worn any jewellery besides a watch. You're not the first bassist/guitarist I've heard mention that the wedding ring required some getting used to, but I must admit I've not found mine getting in the way at all.

 

The only time I've really noticed it is when I'm playing slide guitar, and I can hear it clinking against the slide on my little finger!

Three wedding rings (consecutively, not concurrently) and never had any problem with any of them.

I don’t have a problem with it either, but we’re all different.

 

One band mate used to take his off and put it on a necklace while gigging. Seemed a sensible solution.

Wore a wedding band for years without problems but then found I was getting a ganglion regularly just to the right of the ring finger of my left. Moved the ring (with Mrs Bats blessing) to my right hand and alls been well since…

As soon as I got my wedding ring, I found it seriously uncomfortable to play whilst wearing it. Haven't gigged wearing it for a very long time.

It took me a while to get used to mine but I don't notice it most of the time now. Sometimes I'll hear it hit on the frets a little if playing unplugged. Not an issue though.

Not for me. I just don't get on with any jewelry. I love watches but can never keep one on for more than a few hours. I tried various rings over the years but am always too conscious of them. My dad will be celebrating 60 years of marriage this year and he hasn't worn the ring since the wedding day! He doesn't like the feeling.

I haven’t worn my wedding ring for many years because I became sensitised to the nickel in it. But it was always slightly uncomfortable as I have slightly webby fingers!

I am left handed with my wedding ring on my left hand, it just doesn't bother me at all. The guitarists are both right handed and they take off their rings because they find it interfering.

When I restarted gigging about 20 yrs ago, I realised I couldn't get used to playing with a ring on so I just stopped wearing my wedding ring altogether, and I have not worn it since. I used to take my watch off for rehearsals and gigs, and keep it in my pocket, but since I've been wearing an apple watch, playing the bass seems to inflate my number of steps for the day so I keep it on to boost my stats.

In truth, I'm waiting for someone to say thay they take it off whenever they play a gig "just in case they get lucky."

 

I found it curious for a while after I got married, but got used it to after a few months.

I suffered trigger finger in the ring finger on my left hand and it locked.

I haven't worn my ring since then (a few years now) as it always aggravates the issue.

The ring sit's in my wife's jewellery box now.

I use one of them silicone rings. Does the job, never liked wearing a metal one, it always felt heavy.

No problem playing bass with my wedding ring on, but I do take it off when playing Cajon and am terrified I'm going to lose it one of these days!

I lost my wedding ring many years ago. I dont really wear jewellery but I wore it for the wife. It did get on my nerves when I was playing.

Fortunately the missus wasnt that upset when I lost it and said I dont really need to replace it. So now I dont wear anything on my fingers.
