That is Bs! The bass has come from a bad batch of poor quality control ! First thing I would do if it were me , is to condemn them on trustpilot , farce book , X etc .You could also point them to this topic here ! If you are still in the timeframe , then you have your consumer rights . You’ve done me a favour by mentioning Guitar Guitar , who will be avoided by me in the future . On a slight tangent ; I did post a topic about cort space 5 a couple of weeks ago ,regarding the fluctuating prices. I’ve since seen that the price for the green one has gone down to £679 .However I had a look at the picture and it seems ‘off’ . What I mean by that is it looks like these basses are being churned out by the shed load without much due care and attention imho ..similar to yours ! It’s put me off of wanting one now . If I do go for a 5 string , I’ll choose a completely different brand of headless . 1 Quote

I don’t know how many days you have had it , but as I say that is unacceptable on so many levels ..especially the attitude! I don’t know how long you have left to return it , but take it up with your credit/ debit card …and then crucify them on the sites I have mentioned right away ! 2 Quote

That’s a disappointing response, maybe point them towards this thread where experienced bass players are mostly in agreement that it’s not acceptable , really hope you can get this sorted 1 Quote

Mokl Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) It is, but they don't have to cover returns costs if it's unwanted. In this case they're saying there's no defect..... if defective they would be obliged to cover return postage. Tricky one Edited 4 hours ago by Mokl Quote
MichaelDean Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago It does seem odd that they wouldn't at least organise a courier and deduct the cost from your refund. They must know that they get cheaper rates. Maybe try asking if they can do that? 1 Quote

I did ask them to do that, but they said it wasn't possible which is strange as they state if a return is found not to be faulty then they may deduct £9.99 from the refund to cover the return so clearly, they get much better rates with DPD than I can, but say they can't do it in this case. In that case you still have time to return it . Go onto those sites and shame them ! Maybe have a look on moneysaving expert or similar for a template to write to them. Don’t be fobbed off on the phone ! Do everything in writing. Cc the head office/ ceo on an email . 🤞you get the desired resolution Quote

Cornwall Steve Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I'd put my hand up and confess I couldn't live with it either. If I accepted it, I'd also be forever worried others would feel the same when it was time to sell it on. Quote
neepheid Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago It would bug me. I mean my Epiphone Jack Casady's flamed top isn't book matched, but at least each half isn't wildly different from the other... Do these retailers think we don't talk to each other? Attitude's a bit rum, I reckon. Quote

41Hz Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago (edited) I asked to escalate to a manager. They’ve now come back and said they can arrange collection for £25, which still doesn’t makes sense because 1. The bass has a fault, so I shouldn’t pay anything. 2. Their own policy is if you return a faulty guitar which they find to be non faulty, they then charge you £9.99 to cover the return shipping so where does £25 come from? 42 minutes ago, Lozz196 said: Have they got a picture of a more matched one in their site, if so there’s your argument, you wanted one that resembles what they’re advertising. Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I have bought a lot of guitars & basses online, both new and secondhand and so far I've not had a bad experience in buying new instruments with just the stock pics shown, however when I bought my GuitarGuitar exclusive AAA Gibson Les Paul standard, GuitarGuitar listed photos of each guitar, so I had a choice of over a dozen and knew exactly what I was getting visually as well as knowing the weight (I chose the lightest one, which also was the one with the best figuring). Just to be sure it wasn't a dead lump of porridge (it isn't) and as I am lucky enough to live a few miles from the Epsom branch, I was able to have it delivered there so I could check it over very carefully before accepting it. Come to think of it, I believe most of my other instruments with a natural or sunburst finish have been bought secondhand so I was able to see pics of the woodgrain before buying. My Ben Gibbard mustang is a good example of this, it has really nice grain in the Ash where the joins between pieces are not very obvious, whereas I've also seen examples with mismatched and/or ugly grain, which I'd not have been happy with if I'd bought unseen. Mudpup Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) You mentioned that the neck wasn't properly finished and needed sanding earlier didn't you. Doesn't that make it faulty or not of satisfactory quality and consequently it should be on them to cover the cost of return under distance selling regs? If the finish is inconsistent on the neck it's undisputable surely? Edited 1 hour ago by Mudpup Quote
