  1. Yep 500W minimum in class d for me, though that’s a rock band with 2 loud guitarists. Maybe less watts with an analog amp. I used to have a rumble 500 combo and it’s a great amp, but preferred the tone of the GK mb212 I replaced it with. Still use my GK combo a fair bit but always feels a bit safer taking a separate cab + amp, plus small backup class d.
  2. Thanks for the comments. I’d certainly get some medical advice if it started happening frequently, just hoping it was a one off and wondered if anyone had experienced similar.
  3. Halfway through a song in the middle of the second set last night my index finger on my plucking hand completely curled up. It was a very strange feeling and though my brain was telling it to move it was completely frozen. I managed to finish the song using my middle/index fingers and then manually uncurled it with my other hand gave it a good shake. it then felt weird for the rest of the set like it was about to happen again. Really worried it could be the start of focal dystonia that Scott Devine has. I’m hoping it was just a one off and a combination of being a bit out of practice, the drummer playing faster than usual and possibly me digging in a bit too hard caused it. Anyone else ever had this? Was it a one off or did it progress? I’ve another gig in 2 weeks and concerned it might do it again.
  4. Yeah, that’s very unusual! I only use a pic when I have to, currently 1 song in our set and yet I’m always buying the damn things, really not sure where they disappear to? Dunlop max grip 0.88 for me btw.
  5. Sometimes you can sort out a dodgy pot by twiddling it from min to max 20-30 times, worth a try, though from your description it sounds like something else.

  7. Yeah, it’s a lot harder than I though, we do have 6 gigs in the diary for the coming months but these are mostly repeat bookings from pubs we have played before. We had to turn one down recently because I wasn’t available so part of the reason why I’m keen to bring in a few more is to redeem myself🤣
  8. I play in a Rock covers band. Our singer normally books all the gigs, we do OKish, probably averaging about 1 a month with most of these being repeat bookings. I thought I’d better pull my weight a bit more with regards to gigs and see if we can get into some new venues. A few weeks ago I contacted 10 pubs that I know have had bands before. I mostly used Facebook messenger giving a quick overview of some of the bands we cover, highlighting the number of Facebook followers we have and the number of positive reviews with a link a link to our Facebook page. Out of the 10 pubs contacted, 8/10 didn’t respond, though I think 2 or3 were showing message unread on messenger. One said they would pass the details onto the person that deals with bands - no response so far, the other said they had all their monthly music slots filled but would consider us if they put on any more bands or have cancellations. Am I doing something wrong or is that pretty much par for the course? Any tips greatly appreciated.🤣
  9. I’ve just bought a new BB734A which arrived yesterday. Sounds and plays great. Only issue I have is when I play the D string (and the G to a lesser extent), the pbass pick-up makes a click/clacky sound as my plucking finger touches it, obviously you wouldn’t hear it playing at gig volume, but it is a bit annoying playing at home. The pick-up covering the D/G string feels a bit loose and I think what is happening is it is getting pushed down a fraction when my finger strikes it then springs back up, clicking on the adjustment screw. Anyone else had this issue? - I can get rid of it by lowering the pick-up to increase the tension and get it a bit further away from my fingers but then the D string is a bit quiet. Do these have foam or springs underneath? I’m thinking I could add more foam, or put a small bit of rubber inner tube under the head of the adjustment screw to quieten it down. I’ve not had this on any other basses including a BB735. Pick-up height is currently about 2.5mm fretting on the 21st fret. Anyone else experienced this?
  10. Just found it even cheaper on BAX, with delivery by Thursday instead of 4-6 days quoted by dv247 so have pulled the trigger, hopefully no issues with BAX 😬
  11. Have DV247 sorted their act out, or is it still best to avoid? Tempted to treat myself to a new bass and it is a bit cheaper and in stock with them.
  12. Yeah I suspect that has something to do with the overall equation. Was surprised at our last gig when the landlord gave us an extra £100 over what was agreed and wanted to rebook even when it wasn’t particularly rammed, but then again I don’t know what a typical Saturday night without a band would have been like.
  13. Could the landlord be referring to the profit per pint after all the fixed costs, wages, rent etc. in the context I’m interested in we can ignore the fixed costs.
  14. Ah yeah, think I’d googled a US shot at 44ml, 30x 25ml shots would equal about 50p a shot assuming they paid £15 for a 75cl bottle
  15. I read somewhere a keg of beer works out at around £1.50 a pint so they should be making £2+ a pint. Also soft drinks must only cost them a few pence so bigger profits on that. Likewise a litre of JD is £20 and you’ll get 22 singles at £3.50 a go, so works out less than £1 a shot. Though having said that I think in some cases the breweries force them to buy from them at slightly inflated prices.
  16. Just wondering how many extra drinks a pub has to sell hiring a typical band at £250? As a very rough finger in the air, I reckon the pubs make around £2/drink - obviously there is rent/bar staff/heating/electric etc. but these are fixed costs that they’d pay if the pub was half empty. So maybe around 125 extra drinks to cover the cost of the band? Does that sound right?
  17. I find those Marshall 412 guitar cabs can have some weird dispersion effects and sometimes moving a few feet can help. Other thing you could do is get a pair of decent over ear headphones - this will quieten things down a bit and protect your ears - you can get one of those cheap behringer p2 headphone amps and take the DI from your RM800 so you can hear your bass. I really struggle to play if I can’t hear myself properly.

  19. Thanks for the detailed explanation @EBS_freak, I’ll take a good look through the thread you mention, currently I have 17db dB attenuation in my earplugs so 26/27 dab would be a big reduction. I guess I could also style out wearing noise cancelling headphones on stage, I think in ears would be a better look! I’m surprised nobody makes something like the retrofit ACS driver I mentioned but like the ZS10 with a good number of drivers that can be easily retrofitted into custom plugs without having to resort to irreversible silicone sealant.
  20. @Paul SThat looks pretty good, ideally I’d want something reversible that still gives some hearing protection, I wonder if there is something similar where the tips are the same size as a standard filter. @EBS_freakWould it really be that bad? Ordinarily I’d be wearing noise reducing earplugs anyway and I’d still intend to use my 212 combo on stage, so I’d have thought adding even a single driver would sound better than just earplugs alone. We tried in rehearsal and I was using Sony over ear noise cancelling headphones and it sounded really good.
  21. Not heard of them, who makes them? I assumed the acs ones are the same shape as the filters so you wouldn’t have to silicone them in - would be good to be able convert back to earplugs if the the drivers suck.
  22. I’ve got some ACS custom earplugs and noticed for £99 I can convert them to IEMs https://acscustom.com/uk/products/in-ear-monitors/universal-fit anyone tried these? Or tried something similar, I presume you replace the filter with a driver?
  23. Certainly great news @lancer managed to order without issue. Really tempted to put in an order. I thought there was an EU rule that below 150Euro the shop could cover the duty/vat, but above that figure the duty has to be paid to the courier by the recipient when it’s delivered. I think I read that was the situation with Thomann orders, unless the rules have changed?
  24. I also suspect there is something wrong with the pricing, has anyone successfully bought anything from them. Was tempted by the ABM600 IV at £506, but they are listing the ABM300 for £511 so something isn’t right.
  25. Just stumbled across these - £80 and opto based rather than digital. Not seen these mentioned much on here, are they any good?
