TimR Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago Looking to replace our home office chair. The current one was selected by my son as a computer gamer chair. It's been heavily used and abused and needs to go. I'm looking for something that I can sit and play bass on. ie removable arms or arms that can adjust well out of the way. What are you using? Quote
Mykesbass Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago If you can afford one, the Herman Miller Aeron is unbeatable. 1 Quote
velvetkevorkian Posted 17 hours ago Posted 17 hours ago If you can't stretch to an Aeron the Ikea Markus is adequate and has removable arms. 1 Quote
TimR Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago A search for 'lift up arms' with Office Chair, Gaming Chair, musician's chair comes up with a few ideas. https://amzn.eu/d/0rmqpAr Gaming Chair https://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/modul-Studio-Chair-Black-and-Grey/5889?origin=product-ads&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22258054978&gclid=CjwKCAiA24XJBhBXEiwAXElO3xJyDdPbrq7F3sGRBxa_hAq3q-dlTLleDRrYUjB-6z0xhpQ1o7LIhRoCn7kQAvD_BwE Think the IKEA one isn't going to work as ideally want the arms on and off. And the Herman Miller ones are what we use at work. Keeping hold of a working one is impossible. I'm considering chaining mine down. 😬 Quote

People wont risk using it. 3 Quote
NickD Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I bought this in May 23 (assuming it's still the same one they're sending out, but I pulled this from my previous orders, and it looks the same). It's been used pretty much daily, and is still solid and in great condition. I find it comfy enough to work in when I'm WFH, and it's fine for playing. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0B48VRLFN?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title#averageCustomerReviewsAnchor Quote
Woodinblack Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I bought a boules mesh chair as I work from home and I wanted a decent chair (actually, my wife wanted to throw out my old chair as it was very grubby), and it was without doubt the worst chair I had ever sat on, no idea who it was moddled on but it was terrible. So we contacted them back, they sent a cushion, and that didn't cut it. So we wrote back and they said I could swap for a different chair, so I swapped for a Master chair, which was also on sale at the time and it is the most comfortable chair I have had. I never worked out how one company could produce two so totally different chairs! Anyway, that one is fantastic Quote
Bolo Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I picked the Ikea ALEFJÄLL. High chairs don't really add anything for me, I just wanted good lower back support. The armrests are just long enough to support my elbows and short enough to not get in the way when playing bass. Quote
jonno1981 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago (edited) I bought one years ago when covid hit and I started working from home. It took me ages to find one where both armrests would fully swing away. This is the one I got and it’s great. https://www.hjh-office.co.uk/air-port-backrest-mesh-seat-leather-professional-office-chair.html Blimey, this was £270 in 2020! RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) This topic is most useful . I’ll be looking for something myself in the not too distant ! A friend of mine has a drummers stool , which might be something to consider also. I think it’s made by protection racket 🤔 Edited 1 hour ago by RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE 1 Quote
