Went for a wander up-town today and spotted this beastie in a pawn shop window. Amazing what's out there if you search. It's up for £6,500 btw, and no, it's nothing to do with me or anyone I know either.

Bass is located in Queen Street, Edinburgh, should anyone have that amount in their small-change piggy-bank, btw.

Ā

Then I know the shop. Pass it fairly frequently. Will give it a look. Not that I would consider buying it, even if I had the money.Ā

I’m guessing it’s the old Duncanson and Edwards shop on the corner of Frederick St / Queen St?
Glad someone else is still selling musical stuff from there. I have a nice Strat purchased from

there in the early 2000s, was a great place.Ā

Tjords? What's that about?

I remember someone posting about the same bass here back in 2019. It's sat there unsold for at least 6 years. Judging by the wear on the bridge it was played at lot by someone. Kind of sad it's not getting any use. The pawnbrokers could probably put it up on Reverb/Ebay at that price and sell it in a few weeks.

You do find some gems occasionally in Pawn shops... I've bought many a guitar from Cash Converters over the years, the 3 quite unbelievable ones that spring to mind are:

Ā

ā— The original Warwick Vampyre bass, serial number 1001, which in Warwick terms IS no.1. This was confirmed by Hans P Wilfer.

Ā

ā— A Gibson Les Paul signed by 35 artists including Aerosmith, Guns n Roses, Alice Cooper, Meat Loaf, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath etc.

Ā

ā— An LA Custom Shop Ibanez Iceman owned and stage played for years by Sam Totman of Dragonforce.

Ā

None of the above Cash Converters really knew what they had... Makes you wonder how/why some people give up these gems.Ā

Years ago, when I was broke, a guy I knew found a a Yamaha TRB 6-string made of some fancy, exotic wood for about €100,-

He asked me for advice, 'cos he had no idea about such things.

Had I not been broke and/or had it been a 5-string, I would have snapped it up.

Instead, we flogged it for about €900,- (it needed some serious TLC) and split the money.
