A statue of Lemmy is going to be unveiled in his home town of Stoke-on-Trent later this week.

There's a few Lemmy statues already. There's one in LA and one at the Hellfest site in Clisson, France. There can't be many musicians with multiple statues. I think Freddie Mercury has a few.

I am so glad they went with a healthy Lemmy, rather than the very obviously sick and dying one in the Rainbow Bar & Grill. I think he’d have hated that one, but he would have approved of this new one.

 

I will be going to see it as soon as I can get up to the Midlands.

Considering how bad a lot of modern statues are, this one is an exceptional likeness.

 

 

I've nicked this pic of the statue in the workshop, because it's the only image I've found so far that clearly shows the face.

 

Nice detail on the hands too

Apparently it was modelled on some pictures from their 1981 gig at the Port Vale FC ground. ♠️

I may choose to visit the statue at Hellfest in France rather than Stoke on Trent. It does look really good though.

I'm from Stoke so kind of proud of this, but to be honest I've never listened to much of Lemmy's work. I did think he was known as a pick player, but this statue shows fingerstyle. I guess he did both else someone would have pointed it out already?

I got it, I’m just rubbish at remembering to react to stuff!

 

Unfortunately, all my Motörhead vinyl got really badly water damaged. It included over 40 albums (including compilations and bootlegs) and I can’t even remember how many singles (12” and 7”). Including several coloured ones, even my beautiful blue Bomber album. So, so gutted!
 

They were kept separate from my other vinyl.

 

The only ones that were saved were the leather sleeved No Remorse (thanks to the leather) and the 10” St Valentines Day Massacre, which was on display elsewhere; lost the 7” and 12”, though.
