Markbass CMD 121P combo. Loud enough for stuff?

Recommended Posts

Anyone got one?

I'm thinking about a smallish combo for easy carrying, jams with a medium drummer and some acoustic instruments type thing.

For when I don't want to take my Supertwin rig, and an easier fit in the car when there's more people in it.

There won't be any PA support beyond vocals.

Will it do the job?

I used one in an indie type band with drums, 2 basses, 3 guitars and keyboards, was fine, and we rarely went through a big FOH PA, usually just vocals.

Just pray it does not go wrong.

Yes, and it will sound good.

I carry a Trace Elf with mine, in case of this. Not needed it yet though.

I used one for a while. As a stage monitor it was fantastic, but I found I needed a second cab for small bar gigs with no PA (6-7 piece with horns). For what you describe you'll probably be ok.

I'd consider the 15" CMD version or the Jeff Berlin combo if the size were still suitable. They're only a big bigger but the output of those is remarkable. The Jeff Berlin model in particular sounds much bigger than its size would suggest.

I found that on its own, it wasn’t really man enough - even with PA support. It might work if you could get it up close to your ears. With an additional cab though, it’s killer!

They project surprisingly well (as all MB stuff seems to do). There are limits to what any single 12 can do, but for the use described, I'd say it would be more than up to the job.
