Yep - it's about 200 pages, of which 150-odd are transcriptions. It shouldn't be considered a biog.

Uh ok so more a learning tool than the story of Duck's life?

Anything Duck Dunn is good. . . . but if you can't get his bass lines from listening to the records you need to sharpen up your playing by ear more than you need transcrpitions.

I didn't buy it for that. I bought it for the first 50-odd pages.

I didn't say that.

I'll certainly be checking it out.

This kept coming up on my Amazon recommendations. The lengthy wait put me off but perhaps one for the Xmas list.

Ditto
Did you read the amazon review ? Some muppet complains that there is insufficient biography and too much transcription

They could have saved 75 pages by getting rid of all of the tab ;)

True but then it would have been dense and impenetrable

A corollary to that would be; They could have saved 75 pages by getting rid of the dots. So why don't you just buy it, rip the tab pages out and post them to me? I'd like you to be happy with your purchase.

I'm dense and impenetrable. That's why I need tab.

If we all had the eyesight required for dots we'd all be musical genii and virtuosos would be ten a penny.

Fifty years this year since Duck first came to the UK with the Stax Volt Tour. There's a celebratory concert at the Royal Albert Hall to commemorate it on Sept 1st.

i still watch his performances in the Blues Brothers movies (particularly Funky Nassau) and hope one day to be halfways as capable. And to be able to "turn goats p1ss into gasoline" of course.
