Mykesbass
This one may be a little over-indulgent for some tastes but hey, let's celebrate some amazing writing! Japhet
Absolutely gutted. Fabulous song writer and artist.
scrumpymike
Yep, heard this on the radio news earlier; another big talent gone. First came to my notice in Joe Cocker's excellent band Mad Dogs and Englishmen but he did stuff with pretty much everybody who was anybody. That's another giant down. jacko
Heartbreaking. I first heard him on the Concert for Bangladesh LPs and have loved his playing ever since.
chris_b
Very sad news. Two of my favourite numbers, Joe Cocker's Delta Lady and Freddy King's Going Down, were written by LR. Edited November 14, 2016 by chris_b
Japhet
This is a beautiful tribute to Elton John. Very moving. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M001JpWB_Ms Great man who wrote some gorgeous songs.

chris_b
In the early days he was also part of the Phil Spector "Wall of sound".
blue
Leon, one of the best. He's way high up on the list of only once in a lifetime artists. This one got me sad. Blue
drTStingray
Sad news indeed. The noticeable thing is nearly all of these guys whose fame started in the 60s and 70s are now in their 70s - except Bruce Forsyth, whose in his 80s. It is a sobering thought that time marches on - even Ric Astley and Mark King look (relatively) old to me.

We had a bit of a golden age for the arts (and other things too) during that period and given that many of the stars of that period would have been around twenty at the time (obviously there are exceptions) then they are now all approaching that kind of age when the reaper comes to visit. Doesn't make it any less sad though and probably means that 2017 will suck too

Some we know very well most we've never heard of. Blue

Stratford on Avon if anyone's interested.
Hobbayne
Leon's version of Jumping Jack Flash at the Concert for Bangladesh was incredible. And the little story he told about his lady at home in bed while he goes out on the town always makes me smile. He also played bass for Bob Dylan as well in that concert. What a guy! RIP Leon.
