Come on Eilean Denys midnight runners. First ever single I bought!

I think even by the OP's generous rules this one can't qualify - five or so hits and one classic album Searching for the Young Soul Rebels. Great album. And who can forget the classic balls up at Top of the Pops where they performed Jackie Wilson Said under a huge projection of the darts player Jockey Wilson

Controversy alert!

To the average Joe, casual listener I'd say these two were one hit wonders.

Rush - Spirit of Radio
Yes - Owner of a Lonely Heart

Nah, Yes had Wondrous Stories way before that!

Loved Lena Lovich....didn't she do the original of another one hit wonder - I think we're alone now?
The original vs of that is actually Tommy James, better known for 'Mony Mony'. Lovich (and later Tiffany) are both cover versions.

I've been beaten to a few. Still:

Birdhouse in your soul - They might be giants

Satellite - Hooters

Bennie Hill - Ernie (the fastest milkman in the West)

Goons - Ying Ying Song

And for rubbish, as well as the grandparent songs, there's Sigue Sigue Sputnik's truly dreadful Love Missile F1-1.

Ridiculously good song that one.

Moody Blues - nights in white satin
Jefferson Starship - Jane
Eagles - hotel california

Van Morrison - moondance (sorry someone had to)

Funny, until today I thought I was pretty much on my own with this one, but it seems to have quite a bit of love on this thread :)

makes me grin every time I hear it; the rhyme of "work" with "clerk".

That song by Plastic Bertrand that I can't pronounce as I don't speak French
Just say: "A mower! A mower!"
Oh, you meant "Sahr plahrn poore mwah"

That reminds me: Telex: "Euro-vision", the famous send-up of the whole Eurovision concept, with live unconnected Moog modular and suddenly fully polyphonic Multimoog. :D

I should really have remembered this as we do it - "One of us" by Joan Osborne.

Despite the film, I still like "Take my breath away" by Berlin.

Top Gun is great if you fast forward through the non-flying bits. Someone on YouTube has pasted all the flight scenes into one clip. I think the title sequence is one of the best ever, synth music included.
