casapete
Having just acquired another reissue Danelectro Longhorn and absolutely loving it, thought I'd see if we have any other Dano aficionados out there? My current two blue ones shown - one on the left is a late 90's Korean model, whilst the other is a slightly later Korean 'Pro' with upgraded hardware and (non vintage correct!)vol/tone controls and a 3 way switch. Both sound great to my ears, and really suit the country rock band I play in. The other one is a grey/black sparkle model, again with updated hardware but original style concentric controls. Rather stupidly sold this on BC, wish I'd kept it! Would like a DC bass (in silver sparkle!!)but they rarely seem to come up these days - anyone thinking of moving theirs on please get in touch. Anymore anyone?
Stacker
I used to have an early '90s one in shell pink. You could get some Rick tones out of that wee bass and I don't know why I sold it! Quite fancy picking up a Dead-on '58 one of these days.

YouMa
Lovely looking things very star trek,is it true the company used actual old lipstick cases for pickups i know they were very cheap when the originals came out in the 50s.
skankdelvar
Yes, the original pup covers were lipstick tubes, afaik. Myself, I fancy a copper longhorn (ooh, matron) and I can vouch for the general cheerfulness of Dan's thanks to my Korean U2 RI. The originals are surprisingly cheap for 50's icon guitars - Sears, Silvertone (IIRC) and Dan-badged. The trick to sorting the bendy-bridge syndrome is to straighten it out and add a third round-head screw between the existing two flatheads to stop the centre collapsing. Bit of a balancing act, but works fine and it's cheap. Edited June 15, 2013 by skankdelvar
casapete
I missed out on a copper Jerry Jones Longhorn a couple of years ago, should have got it as they have quite a good reputation as having a better build quality than Danos? Now out of business I believe too. Cheers for the bendy bridge tip - my RI seems okay at the moment, but will keep an eye on it. My other one has the upgraded bridge which although much improved does n't have the ..err...'charm' of the original design!

Jono Bolton
Mmmm... as I thought - not a lorra love for the humble Dano on here?
I like some Danelectros but I reckon not a lot of folk will have one. I had a Danelectro U2 back in second year of high school, so approx 2000/01, I sold it to a pal of my brother for £60, I wish I still had it. bigsmokebass
That silver burst is pretty nice as far as Danelectro's go BSB

12stringbassist
I played this little beaut in Accrington last week. I don't take it out as often as I should, but always really enjoy it when I do.
Junkyard Rocket
I have a blueburst 90s one - it looks just like 12stringbassists one. A few things I've discovered about it over the years: It fits in any case or bag that a telecaster fits in La Bella make a 30" scale set of flatwounds specifically for the dano with smaller ball-ends to fit the bridge Its a lot of fun to play

ChickenKiev
I've always wanted a Danelectro Longhorn. They're just weird. Love them. I'd get two and mod one into a baritone .

AndyTravis
Yup, always fancied a dc...they came out when I'd just started playing and I was skint - and the long scale hodad. One day.
Back to Bassics
Not so many Danos here so I'll add mine. Wasn't crazy about the colour when I bought it, but after adding my own touches I love it. Sounds great too ... Edit: BTW, it's a late '90s MIK that weirdly came with a Dano case.
