Wouldnt want to split hairs, nor argue with wikipedia... which is always right :D But I clearly remember hearing Cyndi Lauper being interviewed on the radio, on a Saturday afternoon when the single was current. and stating how much she dug the Roy Orbison track, and reasons why she covered it etc etc Orbison was a little bit out of fashion at the time I think..

Don't know much about Lauper, but always had a passing interest in Orbison. Wasn't he doing the Travelling Wilburys stuff while Lauper was reaching her peak?

I was playing in the Bhuta tent. Can't remember when (you know how it is ;) ).

I started going to/playing there at the second one and went to about 8 or so. It was awesome in the early days but I think it's lost a little of it's vibe along the way.

Still got loads of mates from up that way so may venture there again next year.

I was DJing at the time under the monikers of Paul Torch and Torchcore. In fact, it was the Wickerman that got me interested in bands again.

I think they were a victim of their own success. There is a small break-away festival up in that neck of the woods run by the original guys that that got me involved, Eden Festival. Looks lo-key and grass roots so may give that one a go, it's a bit of a trek from london though.

If we are allowed to post our own stuff (Jake!) here is my old band's sleazy New Orleans style cover of Tom Waits' Yesterday is Here, which i am still fond of

:D

I'm going to be naughty too then ;)

This is Kit Richardson, on her own, covering Private Universe by Crowded House. I love the lyrics to this song, and Kit sings it beautifully.

There some great covers on that Metallica album! I like their version of Queen's Stone Cold Crazy.

Can we include people covering thier own numbers - one of the best I have heard recently is Tom Jones singing Delilah mariachi style at the Jubilee concert. Brilliant.
