I always loved the way the guitar in this track helped give it a sinister feel and moved it away from just another dance track. Great little solo by Eddie too, not the greatest but it all fits so nicely. I heard this track in the car a few days ago and thought it does sound good
I think it is one of the greatest! It's f***in wild that solo. That's when i love ed the most when he's just killer aggresive and going for it!

5 mins 20 seconds of musical perfection called " 'Cause We've Ended As Lovers" by Jeff Beck and Tal Wilkenfeld.

Makes my spine tingle every time I hear it.

Chezz55.

Albert Lee on Dave Edmunds' Sweet little Lisa. Come to that, anything by Alber Lee, such as Country Boy.

Oh, I love that album, I haven't listened to it for ages! I know which CD I'm taking to the car later today! :)

One of my all time favourite guitar solos must be the one on Thin Lizzy's "Dancing in the moonlight". It's not a difficult solo, which added more to it, as I was able to play it quite soon.... but it's just melodic and beautiful.

Here, from around 2:03
Oh good call on AL. I remember seeing that documentary about Rockpile that that clip is taken from and doing the whole dropped jaw thing that Edmunds, Lowe, Lynott and Huey Lewis are doing. A truly original voice back then, copied a fair bit since, but never equalled.

Another original voice on guitar, and one that I've not heard anyone copy, is Richard Thompson. A guy who really pushes the envelope in note choices, but who just makes it work.

Three spring to mind: there's the Posies' cover of Chris Bell's "I Am The Cosmos", Rain Parade's "A Broken Horse' and REM's "Floweres Of Guatemala ". All are simple, but fit the mood of the song perfectly.
Generally, I'm not a fan of guitar solos though.

I really like John Frusciante's solos, especially on Stadium Arcadium. This is one of my favourites (2:47)

+1 Frusciante just blows my mind with his "feel", he has got it in spades IMHO

This is my fave:

You have taste Mr McNach, you got me listening to Lizzy all day today......what about the 1st solo on the live version of Opium Trail........or all of the Black Rose song.........the solo at 2:30 is the same but I prefer the Live and Dangerous version with the lovely outro as well http://www.youtube.com/watchv=m33yq9UED_g Or how about another of my live favourites.....Jeff Healey ........awesome player.......he sounds like he was wringing that guitars' neck at 1:16

I don't know if it's my favourite , but I've loved Eight Line Poem from Bowies Hunky Dory album since I first heard it in 1973 . It's Mick Ronson at his absolute beautiful , tasteful best ....unfortunately I don't know how to upload any vid that there might be around ...if some kind soul could do the honours , I'd be eternally grateful ...plus you'd be doing a public service !

Thank you :) Any Thin Lizzy is good for me.

Jeff Healey! Good call! I have his first couple of albums and I love his vibrato, so very expressive.

So much music, so little time!!!
