That guy is Alex Norton who plays Matt Burke, but read this, courtsey of Wikipedia ' Numerous sources have incorrectly asserted that Brian Connolly was a half brother of the late actor Mark McManus (who found fame in the title role of detective series "Taggart") but they were not related. Mark "Taggart" McManus was actually the nephew of Brian's foster father.'

I had thought the same as you,but something was in the back of my mind that said otherwise.

Nick Harisson the loner(theme from Budgie)

Was listening to this the other day I'd forgotten how much loved this theme and the great bassline what a great bass tone and bassplayer.
Anyone want to have a guess who it is on bass?

I just clicked the video and listened to it on my computer. If I didn't already know the theme well, I'd be saying "what bass" as I can hardly hear it on my speakers. best way is to listen on a decent set up or with good headphones, that way the slowly dripping honey, sounds of the bass really come through.

The New Avengers theme is also a great one for bass. been wondering what the bass line for that is for quite some time. I tried to replicate it but never get it quite right ?

Barney Miller is another famous bass driven TV theme. Unlike the New |Avengers though, that one seems to be all over the internet, so an yone who is vaguely interested to find the music can do so quite easily.

Rentaghost has a simple but elegant bassline (contains the original opening, the newer opening and full end theme):

I'll also add Jigsaw (skip to 29 seconds):

I think the original was a Tom Scott piece called Gotcha. Poss Neil Stubenhaus on bass?

Edit. Wikipedia says Chuck Rainey.

My apologies for resurrecting an old thread; however, after a search, I see you are aware of that very nice Barney Miller bass part that I was going to post.

I was surprised that this wasn’t mentioned. Chuck Rainey plays the bass part.
